  1. In reality, that is mostly what the assistants located in the stations do too, as well as helping foreigners with procedures....I also fear the Chinese going it alone in Thailand....would not trust them an inch.... I really can't see this flying beyond maybe a few joining the FPAs. How good are the Chinese speaking Thais? Generally any that are English speaking simply aren't fluent enough and hand off the foreign issues to a volunteer!
  2. No comparison made, I simply meant we have foreign guys working with the Thai police.....and have had for many years... do you deny that or just making silly comments yourself?
  3. Not sure I said they were all ex-Western police, more acting as police here. But some certainly were, so no need to correct anyone!
  4. Well that was my thought too, if we have a system already, use it.... although both these elements were Western based, and I wonder if they would slide under that control well. Do they have the English skills...quite a few of these TPV/FPA guys are polyglots.
  5. I also wonder who these tourists from other countries are that trust Chinese police!
  6. Most rubbish seems to be drink containers, those transparent ones with a domed top, I believe used for iced coffee and similar.... often left on walls and the ground (and ironically on top of refuse containers) with a little liquid still in them.
  7. I suspect a few with truncheons will be stationed next to the shrimp at the buffets!
  8. We have not got any official ones, so how they will be allowed to operate in Thailand as yet to be defined. If at all. I doubt they will be given much powers above and beyond what the current volunteers have..
  9. Perhaps save in the long run... apparently the old stuff keeps getting burned off their backs!
  10. They will be going round Thailand soon telling them not to talk about Taiwan!
  11. We have had Western police for many many years, as the Tourist Police Volunteers and the Foreign Police Assistants. They have pretty limited authority and have to have regular police with them and no power of arrest. Probably find them sitting around playing with their phones.
  12. Agreed, truly nonsense........
  13. No different than my early plans many years ago....based on a minimum of 5% p.a. interest on bank deposits, and 50 baht/£!
  14. Well a lot of locals financed their Friday night session with a loan on the strength of this windfall!
  15. Although it is no stronger than regular Leo.....unless you notice the extra 0.1%
  16. Generally I have found Pattaya far cheaper than Bangkok..... especially if you want a beer with your food. Never really use fast food chains though.
  17. Not sure about that... most of them seem to just hang around waiting for the next food cart.... and will still be there at closing time. There are a few Nationalities that like a chubby one so they all have an opportunity.
  18. Of course there are, Nong Nooch, Dolphinarium, Ramayana, Tiffany, Sanctuary of Truth, Island Tours, T21 , Mini Siam, Elephant Village, etc etc are not aimed at pxss heads from Millwall.
  19. Who rattled your cage?
  20. I think the driving in say Saudi was better than here......
