  1. Too right..... My nearby Shell station, they totally ignore my efforts to speak Thai and it seems most of them manage a bit of English. Usually young kids... dare I suspect the schools are getting better?
  2. Oh you know him do you? I hope he knows Beach Rd is not in Naklua unlike you. (I will put you on ignore and do us both a favour)
  3. Do many folks out there actually use Bolt to order a M/C taxi? Personally I don't as there are groups of the WIN guys seemingly everywhere.
  4. My opinion carries as much weight as yours or anyone's here, just less acidity.
  5. Various regional offices having their own special requirements is such BS. I used to use my savings account, but was always in fear of not updating the book for a while, then you would get a consolidated entry... that would not specifically prove you had retained the 800/400kbaht as stipulated.. and I just feared getting grief over that. Now I use an agent, they seem more liberal of things when one does!
  6. I know this is an old post before someone tells me! Having same issues with Mountain Spring, for a while now. Unreliable, won't answer the phone, when he does we get a line of BS! Might see him every 12-18 days.... which isn't often enough. It's hot lately, and I got MIL (aka sour puss) here, and her and my Mrs consume more water than the elephants at Nong Nooch. Might be where I live, 12 km North of town... maybe wants me to cancel.
  7. You might be lucky to get them., although more familiar calling them to get rid of snakes! It's a point.. who is it best to call... them or a hospital ambulance or who?
  8. I do not understand why that is necessary..... (he mentioned Bangkok Bank)..... I have accounts with BB and I can update the books without a transaction, and an update line is printed. This occurs with my savings and my fixed deposit books. I accept this is not the case with some other banks.
  9. No, not at all. I suspect this guy is looking at a LTR Visa option.
  10. I have always felt positive about the Markland, despite it's age... but agreed VT6 prices are a bit higher. My pal who owns 3 (maybe 4 now) there must be doing well. I regard Naklua as not a good option... Naklua, to me meaning North of The Dolphin.
  11. Or perhaps fried with a little basil leaf....as I overheard a local say when visiting a rural temple with many turtles.
  12. I bought a sump pump from Homepro many years ago, submersible. That would do the job easily if you can get power to it.
  13. So, from showroom to scrap yard all in the light of the same day. Nothing left but the monthly payments!
  14. We do our best to make it home, sadly the authorities do make it seem a temporary arrangement. I suspect it will get less hospitable in the coming years.
  15. jacko45k replied to danoli49's topic in Pattaya
Probably better known as Soi SIam CC Rd.
  16. Why not VT6 if being near a Mall is important?
  17. The big Reung Ruen buses are quite sedate these days.... amble along never going too fast. In fact they have a beeper that irritates the driver at 90 kph and above (IIRC). Being able to get off at Sukhumvit in Bangkok means you are soon on your way to your destination. I can be dropped off at North Rd easily, and usually on return get dropped off at the Rong Po market junction and the wife is there in minutes. There and back same day.
  18. I suspect the usual boy racer trying to make his pickup go like a Porche.....
  19. I suspect all of them..... if one can climb a little fence.
  20. You were at the back or the front of that class? Be fair, none of us were there and given the reporting record the tale could be completely misrepresented. I suspect a teacher trying to encourage 'productive discussion' may well be told by superiors to get back with the program. As to schooling in the West.. my recollections was of 'silence in class', standing quietly when the teacher arrived, the odd person getting caned and a board duster being thrown at me now and again. I certainly do not see improvement in behavior and certainly not knowledge levels in the modern approach... and now teachers have to deal with woke attitudes and gender confusion!
  21. Sadly my thought too.... and let us not have any moronic comments like a 650cc is not a big bike!
  22. Yes, I have given up on mine....expecting grazing camels one day soon.
  23. I was watching some Thai channel last night and there was some large indoor meeting going on. Mask wearing was going on, but not 100%, perhaps 40-50% wore masks. Intrigued by what made some wear masks, but it is their choice and I don't let it bother me.
