  1. Visas are not issued within Thailand (except VOA at the airport for some nationalities and Elite Visas) , what you talk of is converting a Tourist permission to a Non-Imm-O. A Used Visa stamp is put into your passport and a 90 day permission with it. The most common reason for this is retirement, to then go on to a 12 month retirement extension... It could also be used for marriage, and on to a marriage extension. The reasons are usually the propose of working, stay with Thai wife, study or retire in Thailand . There are many other Extension possibilities, but many require you are already on a Non-Imm-O Permission, Just interested as to which requirement you will fulfil.... years ago people had to leave Thailand and be issued the Non-Imm-O at a neighbouring country embassy/consulate.
  2. Perhaps this weekend it will be, there is a hot weather forecast for Southern Europe.
  3. Wasn't he into real estate... many form their own companies.
  4. That just seems to be a dislike of people who have plenty of money...... envy maybe?
  5. The only 90 day Visa you can get in Thailand is by converting a tourist to a Non-Imm-O entry, usually based on retirement. What are you thinking of?
  6. A couple of markets on Buakhao...
  7. That would leave an impression.
  8. Have to put money (800k) in the bank or pay an agent a lot...... (advantage might be to get a retirement extension to cover future years), If it is a one off trip I think Orchis idea of METV is best.... or a single+extension+border bounce)
  9. Well he only got away with 5000 baht, which may well be a good result compared to an employee getting tabbed. I like the idea of loud siren to scare him off... but not locking the door!
  10. What is OMG in this context, certainly not Oh my God?
  11. Yes everyone complains when they are here, and also when they won't come back!
  12. Well there was a recent case of a local guy getting roughed up when he complained to a group of youths on the beach. I would like to see the odd police guy on patrol if it simply deters the thieves who will inevitably go there otherwise.
  13. No, this is simply another regular maintenance item that has been left to deteriorate for many years. It got to a point where it was dangerous to go into the tunnel from the bright sunlight into the dark gloom.... and trying to get headlights on, sunglasses off....
  14. I think locals are quite generous to such people, and I hear many instances where someone regularly supplies them with food and water. Health services are probably lacking but so they are in the West, you have to go seek them out,
  15. It seems to have increased a little in the last six months though don't you think?
  16. Well I also have concern that locals are attending nightclubs carrying weapons..... young immature punk kids, bravado and alcohol do not mix well with that. Fortunately not the type of place I will likely be in! But added to the youth wars on Bali Hai a bad direction we are heading in.
  17. Not sure.... cynically feel Thailand will keep going while Western countries work to catch up on that issue!
  18. Yes, they sounded rather naive,,, did the Singaporean look like the German?
  19. Go away, you are arguing for argument's sake. Too much pot I suspect. Another for the sin bin!
  20. If ever we needed a brass band emoticon!
  21. Not really in Pattaya area.... Boo hoo he is wearing a mask.... so important I will post it on a forum.!
  22. For some reason I thought of the big junction of Jomtien 2nd rd and Soi Bun Kanchana. This place is beginning to sound like 1940s Chicago,
  23. Nonsense.. applying terms like 'face diapers' and winging on about a few Thai folks wearing masks is the act of a cry baby who probably holds a grudge over having to wear masks some years ago in the bank. We all know some nationalities in particular have problems being required to comply. They should mind their own business, what some random Thai strangers choose to do in their own country is up to them. Hardly breaking news! Not wearing a helmet is also a choice..... Thais make it every day.
