  1. Let us hope so........ although I recall the company I worked for allowing some parts to be made in China that failed and forced some very expensive retrofits!
  2. I was thinking they had all taken the kids to the beach!
  3. Sadly, these things take time to resolve despite all the negative publicity...... examples might be jet ski scammers, pickpocket and gold grabbing Ladyboys and pickpocket teams on baht buses......a few police patrols should deter most of these.
  4. Cute, pity they failed to get the pointing at each other picture!
  5. Yes, it does leave one feeling ambivalent.. on one hand thinking 'if you can't do the time' etc, but on the other it is very worrying that what comes over from his tales is there are so many sadists working with the police. An alternate picture to the beautiful Phuket landscapes.
  6. I saw many bad examples when we first got them 8 or so years ago, before the rouble took a nosedive from parity, a daily feature. Even women struggling with paralytic men at the airport..... I wondered that they would be even allowed on a plane.
  7. I had tracking on the outgoing and it seemed to move well on the Thai end.... but at that time lots of UK strikes going on.
  8. Yes, I recall quite a few of my UK letters had this Dutch stamp, some bank statements for eg. Don't get hardly anything now, all statements available on-line. I got my proof of life demand quite quickly, January 2023.
  9. Theoretically, they check if you complied when you do your next extension anyhow.. I have not heard of anyone getting any punishment for not doing a 3 month bank report.. then again, who wants to tempt fate! I once never got told to do mine.. so didn't, no issue. Since then I got lazy and pay an agent to do the legwork... all works well.
  10. On Threppasit...... not sure about that. Hasn't it been a roadworks nightmare for a few years and bad prior to that?
  11. Same with wine too! Had a giggle at many locals being sure they got their selfies in with the wine glass and bottle prominent at a restaurant. I was going to get one myself with my beer, it was expensive Heiny, but never bothered!
  12. Now and again, I believe it proves it's worth by helping catch some bad boys...... personally, I have never done a TM30 for myself, and been here many years! Not sure it forces tourists into overstay.... most know nothing about the requirement.
  13. I recall when we last had a surge of Russians come here years ago, I had issues a couple of times with them trying to get in front of me at supermarket checkouts..... not had that happen, so these must be polite and well mannered Russians.
  14. The accountants took over.... trim expenses, leave prices alone!
  15. Odd to bring in those less palatable choices!
  16. We were told not to involve the locals and alcohol production was always via foreigners......
  17. The Extension requirement is that you maintain 800k for 3 months after renewal, or you would be in default of the Extension requirements. Jomtien, (and one or two other offices) have made up the need to prove it has been complied with at that juncture. There is not actually an order to do that. Not related to 90 day address reporting.......(also not required if an agent got the extension either).
  18. At this time, I still feel range anxiety is a reality with EVs... we all suspect the quoted figures are a 'best case' scenario. I used to have battery anxiety in my first ever car if driving with lights, wipers and trying to demist screens.....
  19. But is this the fault of the UK postal service or the Thai one? I count my blessings that I am allowed to live full time here in Thailand and receive the state pension.. although it being frozen is wrong. I hear Oz guys do not get the same treatment. They need to protect from fraud, but like National Savings, remain too attached to the Postal Service...out of date.
  20. Other than it killing you at 30? His appearance seems to suggest something unnatural.
