  1. Personally I haven't. I have got my little screwdriver out and fixed the odd little thing and re-tuned the TV!
  2. I expect people who were brought up in Hawaii, Tahiti, San Tropez and the like might well not see Jomtien as attractive, more pretty low and scruffy. Others who grew up in Glasgow, Burnley, Mansfield or New Delhi, it looks okay. I certainly know a lot of retired folks who have chosen Jomtien. Sure, if I had a lot of money, a Caribbean Island mansion would be nice, like Eric Clapton or Richard Branson, but I do not. One pal waxes lyrical about the sea view from his balcony, A cramped couple of square yards he shares with an AC compressor, drying underwear and towels and a few potted plants.
  3. Or more simply there is a preponderance of Brits in Pattaya......
  4. Not really way over...I see 500 charged, 400 would be a good price.
  5. Nonsense......I was walking around Pattaya today. Loads of attractive women to be seen, quite pleasant if not a bit hot. Who the heck mentioned temples bar you, I certainly did not. You have no idea why I chose Pattaya, and as usual you are just trying to bait posters, trolling.
  6. That said... the underpass was completed to schedule. It appears it can happen.
  7. Darned right, both those places would make you suicidal rather than run riot!
  8. There was some issue wrt buying up land for the high speed railway and the proposed line got moved East IIRC and hence the station got moved too....I read an article in the Newspaper we cannot quote or link to and big ideas of a Green Line, then Yellow to Sattahip and Chonburi, and Purple to #8 school, and then a Red Line, which will run from the Eastern National Sports Training Centre on Chaiyaphruek 2 Road to the dolphin roundabout. Saw some artist drawings of wide open and clean spaces you could never imagine in Pattaya in thousand years. There is already a flyover at the Sukhumvit crossing to get on Hwy 7 so the monorail will be high up over there!
  9. Well there was discussion about that about a year ago, it was proposed to be out closer to Hua Yai, but the recent maps, like posted here on Asean now, we seem to be back at the location of the current railway station, near Soi Siam CC Rd.
  10. Since when? Anyhow nothing to do with the topic....which is about the banks requiring facial recognition for transfers.
  11. Thai Post got mine there for a reasonable cost and convenient, as the Mailbox place is in the Mall....the couriers are maybe more reliable and probably faster and probably 10x the price.
  12. Drink more beer, a pot belly lowers your centre of gravity.
  13. I am still scratching my head over the phrase was diagnostically undressed , was this done by the medical team?
  14. I don't live central, and the places I use are not like the Pattaya bars at all.
  15. There has been roadworks dawdling on the North bound carriageway of the Railway line bypass for over a year now... and that is the road to get to the Railway Station... of course not directly, one has to make a U-Turn at the Siam CC junction to do that... which is usually jammed up with traffic.
  16. Neighbours, what you going to do? Mine torment me with their barking dogs... not a day goes by.......... Have you got your balcony door open that the smell comes in? Buy a small metal kettle, and see if you can pour water onto a smoldering spiv that is close to the railings below... but first buy a Rambo outfit for when they come calling, big blades and bandoleer of bullets etc...... get ready for war.
  17. Compare it perhaps to what retirement would entail in say a UK northern town. It's cheaper, for housing transport, food, entertainment...taxes. Despite what you say, a bit of female company, (with no strings if that is what you want) is a cheap option, and pleasurable. It's safer crime wise. There is large number of like minded people who usually speak your language. You are invisible in the UK....(handsome man here) One can venture away from the bars......I have not been in one for some months. Do you believe I could live in a pool villa in the UK for anything but many multiples of the cost? Oh, and the weather is better... who the hell ever wants to see snow again? And often, the women back there are borderline repugnant, fat, attitude and take no pride in their appearance. Pattaya has beaches, lakes, entertainment, western shops and supplies, and a couple of highways to come and go.
  18. And doing so can cost them dearly as they are declared sanction busters and penalties come into play.
  19. I was thinking it was on one trip there years ago, many scams relating to transportation.
  20. Yes, although with them in most positions of power and decision making, quite a barrier.
