  1. Well this did not happen 'where you come from'.. so a redundant point. Thai women like to be photographed and the people are naturally good natured.
  2. Initial reports stated gambling, and the police modified their story as time went on. It was a fiasco that is for sure.
  3. Moreso than that of a rapist policeman..... take your pick, she has nothing to gain, he has a lot to lose. As previously stated, the truth may well lie elsewhere . Perhaps you watched too much Perry Mason as a kid... a policeman may not need the lawyer....
  4. I was thinking coconuts probably not too heavy.... compared to say a water delivery one. Not enough weight and grip in the back, can be an issue with these rear wheel drive, front heavy pick-ups.
  5. Agreed. Some damned fools think they are still sat at home in their bedsit!
  6. Not to mention whether or not this working vehicle had any tread left on the tyres.
  7. I suspect they can do just that, are you confusing Thai law with that of another country? They can search you on the street, without warrant, something that surprised me when I came here.
  8. Yes, I stand more corrected... I recall quite a few tales of how Indian women suffered being groped on crowded buses.
  9. Yes, the copy-cat ones that do not offer as good a rate. Beyond that TT is the way to go.
  10. I was thinking along the lines of them doing it to their own women but point taken. Foreign women going there I would not recommend.....heck been there a few times myself for work and would in no way consider going as a tourist.
  11. I can think the idea that an adult is posted near the emergency exits, so they can be operated quickly... and not when there is no need, would be good. The one in the roof looks to be too high for the kids. Other than that is CNG the right fuel for them?
  12. I suspect he would not think of behaving that way in India too. Alcohol and ignorance!
  13. Thanks, I was perplexed somewhat!
  14. Well done..... I declined to stand in line with her wheelchair bound mother......
  15. Remember the guy with the swelled up leg!
  16. Cutting off ones own nose to spite ones face..... I would rather hand over 50 baht for a 1km ride that trying to cross the dangerous road in the heat and strong sun.
  17. Done properly it is quite a job, a complete strip down and cleaning and lubrication. Quite comprehensive and a lot of effort. Servicing and repair by OEMs is very expensive, I have done it for my Tag, heaven knows what a Rolex would be!
  18. They are so tiresome insisting on utility bills or something as proof of address and then are unhappy to see a Thai water utility issues bills in Thai (go figure), and even use Thai years (ours +543). How about a certified translation?
  19. Hardly.... for sure not as many options as Bangkok but if one really wants to see paint dry Hua Hin or Udon. Plenty of entertainment in Pattaya....
  20. The tendency is to expect better behaviour of the elder person, ie an adult, in this case one in a position of authority. There are yes, 2 sides to any story and then there is the truth. If you want to believe what a Thai policeman rapist claims then buy that bridge yourself.
  21. I used to get a taxi home after a drinking session near Walking St, boy did I suffer some aggravation and overcharging. Bolt was a Godsend if I can manage to operate the App!
  22. Name already in use, wasn't there a Pig and Whistle in Jomtien? Anyhow, the soi 7 place is now a new hotel/restaurant development.
  23. It's vegetarian week, they put the price of everything veggie up especially for it!
  24. Yes, of course schools here don't seem to have the facilities but that is where I learned to swim. No excuse in tourist areas though where there are pools a plenty.
