  1. Well I have to say well done to the police here sorting this out. It may not be the crime of the century but credit where credit is due!
  2. Is it still nigh on impossible to get to Hua Hin then, it taking longer than a weekend in traffic? Or perhaps the road works are done. It is hardly surprising Pattaya comes out on top really.
  3. Topic is about an old US guy taking a jog in a Pattaya park being assaulted, by a Thai. What are you on about?
  4. Well in this case it was an older retired person so most of your comment off base. He said he had to hang about a good bit and in this climate not my idea of worthwhile for a few thousand baht.
  5. I did have a pal get involved as a crowd extra which made his day.... and yes, he lives here!
  6. Hmm, hardly a convenient time to be woken up!
  7. I believe there is slight rise at 2nd Rd. Probably more evident when under a foot or two of water. Buakhao used to be a low lying swamp years ago, water filled and with plenty of vegetation, hence the name 'white lotus'....
  8. Darn look at that trench, and not shored up in any way. Hardly likely to hold up in the heavy rains.
  9. Got over 10 years on me and doing far better. A pity it's not safe to do.
  10. Just report it and a Mod will trim it away! All you seem to do is add to it and join in!
  11. Makes me think of great closures of the roads and inconvenience. Some Tom Cruise film closed down Manhattan in NYC for hours, I am sure the regular folks enjoyed that!
  12. Now don't expect too much of them. But they have come a long way from the days of sitting in the AC, Lek Hotel lobby sofa, watching the TV. I also once came across a police car on the track near the lake with 2 policeman inside asleep. (The joy of stealing their wheels was just a thought).
  13. I presume we talk of Big-CX, and coincidentally I was stood craning my neck, looking up, and talking to a friend on the upper floor there Tuesday. My attention had been called to the ceiling by a large receptacle gathering the drips of rain water. Furthermore, I am told by someone who has a view over the roof, that there is big installation of solar panels going on. What appears to be supporting electrical panels are being fitted on the far side of the car park, which you will feel narrowing your entrance from the rear North West Corner. I do hope the roof can take the weight, the underlying ceiling obviously isn't doing well.
  14. You mean close it again for road works?😄
  15. Thanks. I always thought it continued on past Lukdod and joined Nua nearly opposite the bus station. Lukdod does list itself as on Yume..... Anyhow, the Klang/3rd junction always was a flooding spot...so much so that I used to call it Pattaya Klong not Klang.
  16. There is a junction of Paniad Chang and 3rd Rd? Don't they run parallel?
  17. I was in town about 9am Tuesday and although we had a bit of heavy rain then there was no flooding in (South of Hellfire jcn) Buakhao bar a few puddles. Was it a lot earlier and had time to drain away?
  18. Infamous for flooding. It used to be a swamp and has aspirations to be one again one day!
  19. I believe he is referring to another incident some time back and his comment is fair. Yours isn't.
  20. Slightly off topic but I nearly hit a woman catching fish flapping in the road when I drove home yesterday (Tuesday). I guess the OP refers to the heavy rains Sunday evening..... did it drain off more quickly or are all the drains that have been laid a failure? No standing water on Buakhao , nor 3rd on Tuesday despite getting more rain.
  21. 'Monitoring and preventing any violence'? Inclined to say getting involved and showing how it really should be done....
  22. Well it is supposed to be closed to traffic in the evening and night at it's most busy times. Although motorcycles were on the move when I have been there.
  23. So far they have not done so bad in the last few years, dare we say the drainage at R-Con has helped? I seem to recall getting stuck in that area multiple times each year in my early days here. Watching the water level climbing up my bike in fear or riding in it with ruined footwear.
  24. I used an agent and pretty sure they supplied only one original of residence certificate and medical certificate... for my two licences. I got the cute girl who helped me to myself too.
