  1. Is Arcadia Central also a ghetto.?.. I have looked at it online for rent but have not viewed in person it yet ...maybe will not bother... Anyone can tell me?
  2. remember Thailand was neutral in WW 2....
  3. Does anyone know when we will actually learn of what will occur on 01 January 2024? Maybe they will wait until new year's eve. Or better still announce it on 24 or 25 Dec to maximize matters for farangs?!
  4. Aha! The real reason why the Thai government want to screw foreigners out of money we have already paid tax on= Thai government to give 10,000-baht digital wallet to citizens despite criticism | Thaiger (thethaiger.com) " distribute a 10,000-baht digital wallet to every Thai citizen over the age of 16"
  5. So this means that "Pension/retirement income(see TaxTreatises)" will continue to be treated in the same way as before for those on retirement visas.....right(?)
  6. The following information is widely being advertised right now on the internet: "The good news is, if you move to Thailand to retire, you will not be taxed on income you receive from overseas. These include pension, interest or any other source of income from your home country. Tax in Thailand only applies to money earned within the country. It’s crucial to note, however, that you can’t work while on a retirement visa in Thailand." https://thethaiger.com/guides/retire-in-thailand/do-you-need-to-pay-income-taxes-when-retiring-in-thailand
  7. If I apply for a 1 year extension (retirement) that does not mean I will be in Thailand for the next 180 days. Only that my visa is over 180 days. But I agree they will try to grab more money from us and they will do anything to achieve that end, whether legal, or moral or fair.
  8. A poster above quotes a Revenue official who says: "The collection of PIT on overseas income will be primarily based on the principle of self-declaration in conjunction with the use of digital technology and international information exchange systems …" Assuming this quote is accurate what it means: Unless a person living in Thailand is currently filing tax returns and paying tax it is not easy for the revenue department to get tax from that person who is outside the radar of the tax collectors. Also privacy laws apply to banks and their customers. The immigration department are not tax collectors and if a person applies for an annual extension that's' for the year ahead and the applicant may say he or she will be be spending less than 180 days in Thailand in the forthcoming year.
  9. One view is that this new provision is aimed at taxpayers in Thailand to fix a loophole re assessable taxes. Exemption to those who are subject to a double taxation agreement and especially retirees who will be unaffected by this. Too much scaremongering in many of the postings here. See article below from KPMG. -Nothing about taxing income earned abroad and not brought into Thailand. -Nothing to cancel double taxation agreements, etc. "KPMG’s observations Previously, Section 41 Paragraph 2 of the Thai Revenue Code was interpreted differently: the assessable income derived by a Thai tax resident from employment, a business carried on overseas, or from a property situated overseas, would have been subject to Thai personal income tax only if the said taxable income was brought into Thailand in the same tax year. However, the new interpretation means that foreign-sourced income brought into Thailand from 1 January 2024 onwards will be subject to Thai personal income tax, regardless of the tax year in which the income was derived. Affected taxpayers should be aware of the Thai personal income tax implications and take this new interpretation and their tax residency into consideration when planning to repatriate foreign-sourced income into Thailand. "
  10. Currently have monies transferred from Wise UK to my bank here in Thailand. Due to possible new regulations I want to know what legitimate etc methods are available to get monies coming to Thailand without being received into my Thai bank account. I suppose I could send money to a Thai friend with a bank account here but that would be risky as the Thai may -unintentionally of course - forget to gift me my money.....???? Can i send the money here to somewhere like Western Union for me to collect it? Or something similar? I have Thai credit and debit cards. Is there some way to get a debit card from a different Thai or non Thai bank here and use that for expenses? { Wise do not issue cards for persons residing in Thailand at the moment} Thx any input!
  11. If a person send money from overseas to Thailand to a Western Union office here which pay out in cash then surely the Revenue Dept are not advised about this?
  12. Question: As the law currently stands in Thailand if I send money from overseas to my Thai bank account in Thailand the bank is not allowed to inform the Thai revenue dept? Correct or not?
  13. Last time I did my retirement extension I provided the TM 30 document from immigration given to my Landlord. It shows my name. address and passport number. This is I assume the screenshot mentioned above. Seems this document acceptable without "receipt of notification". ( same like 90 day confirmation -instead of receipt-given on line)
  14. Just use your email. Can use a friends mobile. No need a box for annual. If u cannot register contact True and ask why.
  15. Can watch premiership on line. No need for a box. 1 day or all season. One day charge is 179 baht: can see the matches live and in English: Checkout (trueid.net) But not free so maybe pay 179 baht is beyond some peoples budget....
  16. I notice at CW immigration(BKK) at the check in area there are counters marked "TM 30".
  17. I also want to know . Assuming we are kept waiting until after our reporting date...do we still get 7 days grace before needing to go to immigration?
  18. I listened to BBC radio 4 today. Some "expert" was trying to say how complicated this case is. Not complicated at all. The BBC presenter -a public figure- and for whatever reasons fancied affairs with younger males and likely used his position, money and power to further that. When he was confronted with exposure the cowardly presenter is now hiding behind apparent mental illness as an excuse, and using his wife to do the dirty work.
  19. As the so called teen thru his lawyer is saying its rubbish and no evidence of wrongdoing; the presenter of course will admit nothing. What the parents would say in Court is hearsay without the teens evidence. My reading of the case is that if money was paid that can prove nowt without the victims' evidence. Even if there is a photo of the presenter in his underwear: nothing wrong with that and it also proves nothing unless the teen says otherwise which he will not either about that or anything else to implicate the presenter. However loud the parents scream and shout their allegations cannot prove anything in Court without their child or an admission by the presenter. Of course: I think we can all guess who arranged and financed the lawyer...and many of us now know the name of the presenter.
  20. In Asia you can often get away with murder, but stream football matches without a license= they will get you!
  21. Its the remains of a UFO. When the occupants arrived they took one look at those people greeting them and were so shocked they fled so quickly leaving what is depicted in the photo...
