Living in Thailand vs living in America?
Lemsta69 replied to jack71's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
hyperbole much? that's simply not true and you know it. if you're going to criticise the place at least get your facts straight. -
Australia's not improving, it's devolving. thanks in part to the rednecks but also the newcomers. this is why I left the godforsaken part of Sydney that I was living in... https://www.news.com.au/national/nsw-act/crime/two-women-found-dead-after-shooting-in-southwest-sydney/news-story/d13d6ca80f6a35fea3dca6231095d615

this came up last year yes and no; PCR and RT-PCR tests are actually different tests. the RT stands for "Reverse Transcription". "A reverse transcriptase (RT) is an enzyme used to generate complementary DNA (cDNA) from an RNA template" it is only possible to detect the SARS-CoV-2 virus using the RT method. therefore the "PCR" test performed by the London clinic will in fact be an RT-PCR test. but for some reason the clinics in London have decided to use shorthand and have dropped the "RT" just to confuse everybody. I guess they year for days of yore when they were a world power ???? last year there was at least one report of a traveller being held up at check-in, and rightly so, because the certificate said "PCR" but the IATA rules said "RT-PCR". check-in and immigration staff shouldn't be expected to be scientists. however there have been no recent reports on here of travellers to Thailand encountering this issue.

that, and some people just love to complain. there was a thread called "why are there so many haters in here" and quite a few members quite bluntly stated that not only do they like complaining in here but they have a right to do so and that we should just "move past". pretty hard to do when there's 7 or 8 pages of whining ????

oh thanks for the clarification. in that case I agree, the dude is a tool. me and my buddies do trips like that and have a great time. well we used to when we were younger and less flush. cockroach and mosquito infested dumps give you something to talk about years later. that's if you survive the malaria and dengue! ????

that's part of the charm of living here though. makes it a hell of a lot more interesting than boring old Ferrangland ????

Hua Hin to Suvarnabhumi Airport bus service updated

I wouldn't know ser, I've never been to Hua Hin. but if I ever do go it won't be on a rickety old bus. AOT limo or bust! -
flying everywhere is not at all adventurous. doing it the way you described is much more fun and you have stories to tell. if memory serves, the Penang to Langkawi ferry doesn't take that long and it's a nice from your "dive" hotel on Chulia Street to the ferry terminal.

Bangers to Patts is a two hour trip and that only costs 118 baht. so Swampy to God's waiting room should only be 236 baht. somebody's skimming from the top, this needs to be reported! ???? -

Tourist reporting to immigration
Lemsta69 replied to Gwen1234's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
except that the missus and her mate are mostly correct. a TM30 is technically required. hotels will mostly do the TM30 for you after you check in using the online system. but if you stay in a private residence then technically they should be reporting you as well. either by a visit to the local immi or via the online system. but as Ubon Joe pointed out, not worth worrying about unless you need to do something at immigration like "extend your visa" or 90 day report in the event you decide to stay longer. if you can't show a printed TM30 receipt then expect to cop a B2,000 fine.
