  1. Or those who don't want 800k baht festering in a Thai bank account at near-zero interest rate for 25 to 30 years.
  2. I assumed that because he couldn't find it he was using the email client's download function and that it got saved to some random temp location. Hard to debug with limited info.
  3. Depends on the browser but you can usually find the location of the Download folder pretty easily. Slightly less difficult than trying to work out where the "Inbox" copy got saved to.
  4. Download a copy from the TM47 website. Simples.
  5. maybe he is bored with the tales of woe already, I know I am.
  6. Pre-Covid there were many reports on here of that exact scenario, ie they'll try and force you to return to your passport country. The reports said that they'll try and force you to sign a document that's in Thai only. I can't remember the specifics but the document says something like "we can do what we want with you now". Advice from a few affected people was NOT to sign the document and to not give in to any bullying either by the Immigration folk or the airline folk. Stand your ground and insist that they let you fly to a nearby country. IIRC they wont allow access to the internet so having a phone with Thai SIM card and sufficient credit is a must. You'll be locked in a windowless shared room until your flight is ready to depart.
  7. There were a couple of recent-ish reports on here that claimed Poi Pet were refusing exit on the basis that the person would be denied re-entry. Same situation as the OP, lots of Covid stamps. In one case the poster still had 1 of their 2 per calendar year land entries left but was still refused exit. I don't know if the IOs who do this are being harmful or helpful. Perhaps they can sense that the 'perpetual tourist' only came prepared, funds-wise, for a quick out/in so if they let them exit, then what happens? How are they going to get to Phnom Penh and onwards with 50 baht and a packet of ciggies in their pocket? ????
  8. How does your wife make the roast beef and Yorkshire pudding then?
  9. if you fall so easily at the first hurdle then perhaps Thailand ain't the place for you. lots of little niggles like that here, adapt or fail.
  10. Use an agent to open a bank account and move on with your life. The only downside is that your have to queue up in the bank behind a bunch of technologically challenged farang who don't have a mobile internet data and so can't download the banking app. Or worse, don't have a local SIM card ????
  11. Three grand a month in Bangkok won't buy you luxury, heck it will barely get you an apartment. Luxury is 98 Wireless, Lambos and Wagyu steak, breakfast at the Mandarin Oriental.
  12. it's only confusing if you don't stay up to date with the changes. the whys and wherefores are discussed here quite regularly. but TIT so up to you if you don't want to join the conversation.
  13. Sorry I guess I misunderstood your post.
  14. My agent in Pattaya charges 'roi neung' for a 90-day report as of 1 April 2023 but I think that's for their existing clients and not walk-ins. They used to do it for free as part of the package but times change etc.
  15. And I just realised I got a SWIFT/BIC code too ("Outside the UK" tab).
  16. Not true, I just opened a GBP balance in the Wise app and got myself a UK bank number with a sort code and an IBAN (whatever they are).
  17. the 1,900 baht is for the service they provide. not giving you your 100 baht change back is them trying it on and hoping you either won't notice or won't say anything about it.
  18. my post was in jest however you can't see the heat post of it anymore ????
  19. I heard those stories too. I guess that's why I paid only 160 baht for a ticket from Ratchadamnoen Klang all the way to Koh Samui when the same trip was 400-something baht at Sai Tai Mai. Robbing the bagpackers subsidised the cost ???? Now that I think about it, I read those stories on the old Lonely Planet Thorn Tree forum which sadly has now disappeared.
  20. tell 'em to leave their money on the fridge! ????
  21. It's hidden for some reason, this thread might help you... https://aseannow.com/topic/1289709-cant-complete-online-tm30-registration/#comment-17967036
  22. Some rogue Immigration Offices are still persisting with the old rules because...reasons. We even had a recent report that online TM30 was unacceptable and the poster is required to visit the IO after every trip away.
  23. Homie in the photo ain't no white boy. Ain't old either. Just sayin'...
  24. Under the new rules he doesn't have to do another report when the gets back home, unless he's coming back in on a new visa. Bangkok have been complying with the new rules so the OP's case is strange.
