  1. I was pleasantly surprised in February to find out I didn't have to schlepp to Soi 5 for a photo. I use Maneerat on Soi Post.
  2. I do. Done it heaps of times before I got my 'retirement visa'. Well, 3 times. TIT, it's only wrong if you get caught.
  3. Why are you paying for him, is he work-shy?
  4. This. Sammy Thailand won't touch a "foreign" model. Been there done that (Si Lom service centre).
  5. I've only read Private Dancer and No Money, No Honey, the latter being about Singapore. I've forgotten most of NMNH, the only thing I recall is the response of a working girl to a question about paying for sex. Her response was "where got free <deleted>?" ???? I use the term quiet often as it's a bit more exotic than the old "free lunch" adage.
  6. Just ignore the guy. You say black, he'll say white and vicey-versa ????
  7. I don't know how I know this, maybe I saw it in Asia Books in Royal Garden Plaza once but the title is "Hello My Big Big Honey". Google says it was first published in 1992. I have even heard of Thailand in 1992! Someone is trying to flog it on Amazon for seventy-five bucks. https://www.amazon.com/Hello-Letters-Bangkok-Revealing-Interviews/dp/0867194731
  8. do what do you eat with the sweet and sour pork that you order from the local Chinese, hot chips?
  9. that's how it works here man, accept it and move on with your life.
  10. Or those who don't want 800k baht festering in a Thai bank account at near-zero interest rate for 25 to 30 years.
  11. I assumed that because he couldn't find it he was using the email client's download function and that it got saved to some random temp location. Hard to debug with limited info.
  12. Depends on the browser but you can usually find the location of the Download folder pretty easily. Slightly less difficult than trying to work out where the "Inbox" copy got saved to.
  13. Download a copy from the TM47 website. Simples.
  14. maybe he is bored with the tales of woe already, I know I am.
  15. Pre-Covid there were many reports on here of that exact scenario, ie they'll try and force you to return to your passport country. The reports said that they'll try and force you to sign a document that's in Thai only. I can't remember the specifics but the document says something like "we can do what we want with you now". Advice from a few affected people was NOT to sign the document and to not give in to any bullying either by the Immigration folk or the airline folk. Stand your ground and insist that they let you fly to a nearby country. IIRC they wont allow access to the internet so having a phone with Thai SIM card and sufficient credit is a must. You'll be locked in a windowless shared room until your flight is ready to depart.
  16. There were a couple of recent-ish reports on here that claimed Poi Pet were refusing exit on the basis that the person would be denied re-entry. Same situation as the OP, lots of Covid stamps. In one case the poster still had 1 of their 2 per calendar year land entries left but was still refused exit. I don't know if the IOs who do this are being harmful or helpful. Perhaps they can sense that the 'perpetual tourist' only came prepared, funds-wise, for a quick out/in so if they let them exit, then what happens? How are they going to get to Phnom Penh and onwards with 50 baht and a packet of ciggies in their pocket? ????
  17. How does your wife make the roast beef and Yorkshire pudding then?
  18. if you fall so easily at the first hurdle then perhaps Thailand ain't the place for you. lots of little niggles like that here, adapt or fail.
  19. Use an agent to open a bank account and move on with your life. The only downside is that your have to queue up in the bank behind a bunch of technologically challenged farang who don't have a mobile internet data and so can't download the banking app. Or worse, don't have a local SIM card ????
  20. Three grand a month in Bangkok won't buy you luxury, heck it will barely get you an apartment. Luxury is 98 Wireless, Lambos and Wagyu steak, breakfast at the Mandarin Oriental.
