  1. I guess you're not French then ????
  2. I'm a peasant so fancy and fine mean the same thing to me. But I guess you can have fine dining, ie. quality ingredients prepared correctly, without fancy tablecloths and annoying waiters ???? I met a French steak chef at a nightclub in Bangkok last year and duly promised to visit him for a le steak at his fine dining establishment which happens to be a few minutes walk from my gaff. Then I looked up the prices on the internet and ordered KFC instead. Maybe when the markets pick up a bit more I'll bite the bullet and see what this bleu business is all about. I'm a fan of medium-rare Aussie Wagyu but I guess I could branch out just the once.
  3. Aren't we supposed to ask for bleu at a fancy steak joint?
  4. It was free when it was first launched, you could mine Bitcoin on your desktop. Well I guess not entirely free as the CPU time costs money.
  5. Well I'm going to have to take your word on that because last time I did that the hidden in-app spread from USDC to AUD was atrocious, something like 2 or 3 per cent. And that was on top of the appalling 0.2% trading fee on the exchange, hence why I stopped using CdC's services.
  6. Almost forgot...if you sell BTC to fiat and the sell price was higher than the buy price then that's a CGT event. Either the UK or Thailand will be expecting their cut. Not paying tax is even worse than using an agent! ????
  7. Correct. Also the conversion from BTC to fiat costs him a pretty penny because Crypto(.)com only let you do such conversions inside their app and not on their exchange. The spread for in-app card top-ups is horrendous, or was the last time I used it about a year ago. That, and the crappy VISA exchange rates make the fancy metal composite card a paperweight. At no time in the process he describes does the Bitcoin network ever get used, it's all off-chain and registered only in CdC's database. The merchant has no idea that crypto is involved unless they feel the weight of the card and start asking questions. Now if he said that he used the Lightning Network to pay the merchant I'd be more impressed but even then you're using a third-party and not directly interacting with the BTC network. And don't get me started on the fact that you can't get a fancy metal card if you're living in Thailand so one would have to lie to Crypto(.)com about one's place of residence to get one (and buy and stake a considerable amount of CRO to get all the alleged perks). We can't abide that sort of fraud now can we? What's next, using an agent to get one's "Retirement Visa"? ????
  8. Would you mind listing the branches where you did this? I need a new Bangkok-based back account and CBF going to CW for a CoR.
  9. May I ask which bank & branch only want a CoR? I've recently been given a much longer, more onerous list of requirements at a nearby branch of a major bank (BBL on Surawong).
  10. @DrJack54has already covered that in his 2nd post above. In short, no.

nah ChatGPT will never be as awesome as Aseannow ... it's been programmed not to call you an idiot when you ask a question and it doesn't leave sad and confused emojis to try and annoy you. one out of five stars ????

  14. It was the Poms what brought the rabbits, innit?
  15. "Farang" doesn't mean non-Thai. Chinese are not farang.
  16. everything's a con if you're brassic ????
  17. Thanks for the update.
  18. Elite Retirement Visa? There ain't no such beast. What you're referring to is the Privilege Elite, or PE Visa and it's a Tourist Visa. As @DrJack54mentioned, the costs quoted for this visa are one-off payments to the company that manages the program and are not held on deposit in your bank account.
  19. good idea. a lick of paint would be nice too, those bare walls make it look like a prison cell. I'm reaching for my antidepressants just looking at the photo ????
  20. Where are you getting your target of $15k from mate? In-country retirement visa and subsequent extension(s) require ฿‎800,000 in the bank. At current exchange rate (BBL TT buy rate 33.94) that's approx. $23.6k not $15k.
  21. my understanding is that they are handled by the regional offices. in the other thread that I mentioned one chap said he submitted just before the due date but got no response. so he called his local office a few days after the due date, they looked him up and said sorry we'll get on to it right now and then he received the approved notification shortly thereafter. based on my own online reporting the notification date and therefore the next reporting date are set by the system. eg. if I submit at 8pm tonight then that is the notification date, not when the IO picks up my application from the job queue. so if they can see your pending report then it should be a simple matter of them approving the application. yerr I know, TIT ????
  22. Have you considered calling them and asking them to investigate? I recall other threads where dudes have had success that way in similar circumstances, or claimed to. I guess you'd need to be serviced by an office that picks up the phone.
  23. I always do 90 day online, takes less than a minute to prefill the data and hit the submit button.
  24. it seems you don't read this forum... https://aseannow.com/topic/1290807-overstay-on-visa-exemption/ or even this actual thread... https://aseannow.com/topic/1291486-please-help-with-overstay/?do=findComment&comment=18003134
