The 900 queue cards for free covid testing at Wat Phra Sri Mahathat, Bang Khen District, ran out at 6:30am leaving people disappointed

May I ask a dumb question.

Why do so many Thai queue for testing.

    Some for MANY hours.

A few months back the Thai health office issued a statement that said all Thai nationals must be tested for free and treated for free for Covid at any hospital private or government.

But society is the rich and poor, them and us here.... two different worlds and the people in this queue dont have the confidence to pop off to a private hospital and demand a test..... as they would probably be refused even if they had a copy of the ministerial statement with them and if the refusal came to light it would be a misunderstanding, the same as the enormous bills that came to light given to some who did go to a private hospital for covid treatment.

I was fined once in a very similar situation as you are in, eighth day of a seven day grace period and it had also occurred over a weekend.  I don't really see how an agent would help in this situation but then I don't use agents.

Maybe it would help because an agent and her colleagues at immigration are aware of your substantial contribution yearly to the coffee fund and nit picking over 7 day grace that might be 8 days by a weird way of counting perhaps better left to discretion...... but this is Thailand.

People tend to treat being late to report the 90-Day Report to being on overstay which is quite foolish.  The difference in severity of non-compliance couldn't be more stark.

On the contrary I have my visa expire date constantly in my mind would never give myself the hassle of an overstay as the consequences are unpleasant and extremely stressful, but a 90 day can get overlooked however not a hanging offence.

They include the report date in the 7 day count. Monday would be 8 days counting it that way.

Oh dear, would I be better going to the agent who did my retirement visa and simply pay her 500 baht report service charge rather than risking an over zealous immigration officer who doesnt realize i contribute yearly to the coffee fund by way of my visa, who insists on charging me 2000 baht for the 7/8 eight day discrepancy if I go in person.?

It can't be done online if overdue.  Go on Monday and see whether you are within the 7 day grace period according to the way they count it.  Worst case you face a 2,000 baht fine and notation made in your passport that you filed the 90-Day Report late.  No further consequences follow from the late report.

Thanks due date 5th July so Monday being the 12th would be exactly 7 days.

  6. Just realized ive overshot my 90 day report.

Now at the 5 day late stage, can I still do the report online today? if so which browser must I use? is microsoft edge ok?

Which is the latest correct site to use for this report?

If because I am late I cannot do it online I can go to immigration on Monday which will be day 7 over but i presume still inside the 7 day late grace period and no fine.?

    Thanks in advance for advice.

  7. If you book a flight out of here and have a pre flight test a day or so before at a BKK lab where they send you the result later in the day by email, guess if you are unlucky enough to be asymptomatic and have a positive result.....................what then?

Your in a  Bkk hotel staring at an email from the lab positive for covid, youre not flying out and their are no hospitals beds available in the Bkk area....... a worrying scenario.

Guess you go back to your home area and isolate but any travel bus plane etc would put your fellow passengers at risk..,,,,,,,,how are positive tested Thais in Bkk going back to the provinces for treatment or hospital bed going to get their without putting others at risk of infection?

I was just stating what would happen if you just ignored all the red tape and just jumped on a flight without prior tests and form filling in, they would likely stick you in quarantine even if you arrived from an amber zone

In the same boat as you planning to return, researched a bit seems you cannot ignore the red tape.

Coming from Thailand you will need a 72hr pre flight neg covid test to check in, and a passenger locator form filled out with booking ref no. for prepaid day 2 and 8 covid tests......yet these covid tests kits are available free at Uk pharmacies.

My biggest concern is packing up ready to go flight booked then heading to Bkk and getting tested at a lab ....and finding I am asymptomatic but positive .....then what would happen ? possibly escorted to a field hospital, not sure how the authorities would handle it?

This would have to be brought completely under control before another wave can be called a fourth wave.

Does it matter what they call it, Thailand has clearly been inundated with the pandemic for well over a year which was never been under control just concealed.

All the 1st wave 3rd wave 98th wave nonsense is just a further deflection from the basic negligent policy of extremely limited testing nationwide which perpetuated a virtually covid free illusion for a long while with some hopeful souls believing it.........and actually congratulating these egomaniacal clueless idiots.

similar story, but no so much widely reported, is that phuket governor decided to allow domestic tourists to visit with AZ, but not with sinovac.

Yet the 70% of Phuket residents that might have had the first jab were give Sinovac.

Perhaps its better to keep our heads in the sand box, because reading about and exposure to the comprehensive levels of corruption, hypocrisy, incompetence and blatant negligence by this bunch of egocentric lunatics is not good for the soul.

The Thai government had more bad news from another poll. After a Super Poll said politicians should all take a pay cut as they were nothing but a bunch of corrupt and bickering annoyances, came the latest Suan Dusit university poll.

From June 28th to July 1st they asked 1,744 people questions under the umbrella: How will Thais win the Covid-19 battle?

Thats a lot of people to send for attitude adjustment, but never mind, Pillock has the time to organize it, not as if he is busy procuring vaccines for the people.

Those to arrive on the island have mainly been from Europe with Phuket set to welcome weekly flights from Copenhagen, Frankfurt, London and Zurich until September.

May have changed but Thailand was an amber list country on the British Gov. website with holidays not permitted, essential travel only by Uk nationals and Covid test before return and two booked for first week of return and 10 day self quarantine.
