This happened to my girlfriend a few years ago. We immediately went to a private hospital and they administered rabies shots. The cost was a few thousand baht but we made the rat pay for it.
Yes i wanted the large rat <deleted> pay with its life but was happy to see it scurry out the back door then deal with my blood which perhaps should have been his!

posted this in old topic but started new so can get advice please.
Just had a rat in the house 30 minutes ago this morning that when chasing it out bit my toe drew blood yikes which was dripping out in mid chase.
Washed cleaned with betadine and antibacterial cream and wound kind of sealed now not particulary swollen.
Should i rush to hospital for a rabies or tettanus jab any idea of the cost at a private hospital or government?
Would government Er deal with it as in quick or only out patients which involve hundreds of people unless wait till late afternoon when outpatients closed,
Thanks for any advice!!! bit shocked.. to be honest heart rate blood pressure still rather elevated compared to normal but have got the little barsteward out of the house now.

Thailand is "Amber".
Amber now, but possibly when the effects of only testing 2% of the population across the kingdom and with similar vaccination rates can no longer be hidden they might well even go to red status?
Of course Phuket will be the exemption with declarations of 70% tested and vaccinated and the A380s can come out of hibernation to cope with the tourist demand and millions will return by the end of the year.....what pandemic? Thailand has miraculous virtual immunity!

CCSA has revealed what it considers the high-risk groups who have a high chance of mortality when they get infected with #COVID19. Those who have a high risk should strictly follow the prevention guidelines and measures.
Very reassuring can probably manage 3 out the seven!

But hey, Prayut has an in-house plan.
Exactly if wing and a Prayut had started mass testing a year ago and got a real idea of the situation and followed it up with a mass vaccination program for all, six months ago , they could seriously now be planning ahead for possible limited tourist numbers ...........instead they us and anyone living here are in for a turbulent ride.

We can all see how the figures are misleading and will continue yo be presented in such a way that it is impossible to get the true picture. There are hundreds in Chiang Mai prison who have not been included and probably the same in plenty more cities across the country. So getting uptight about what is really occurring is not the answer. I am only concerned about my ability to access a top quality vaccine at my expense, and until that happens it is just a matter of hunkering down. We are all on our own in this and must simply accept that.
Yes some good points! we all know the military controllers figures are questionable at best and that their has been miniscule testing over the last year.
The real covid numbers and situation in Thailand will not be revealed without extensive testing and transparency, neither likely with the current regime.
We are on our own as are the thai people who have been thrown under a bus by the greed and stupidity of the few.
Perhaps they can now buck the trend and move mountains not envelopes to role out a vaccine program immediately?, we can but hope!

Where you test you will find why does anyone expect any different? Thailand doesnt have a miraculous immunity to Covid.
Only the total negligent lack of testing over the last year created an absurd illusion of a virtually covid free Thailand that some actually believed.........including numb nuts and his gang
runningruining the country.-

You might want o try omega 3 fish oil capsules, can buy a bottle of about 70 of the 1000mg capsules from 7/11 for 220 baht.
Two or three a day might help along with at least 40 mins exercise and can also provide natural benefits in other areas .
A daily helping of continuous stress and anxiety will also surely loosen things up, maybe you are far to relaxed and need to get worrying!

Who in their right mind would give any credence to the the daily spouting of this bunch of military muppets? who have shown by the lack of testing over the last year and the subsequent failure to rapidly procure enough vaccines for the whole population.......that they have gambled with the health of the people and lost !! in favour of keeping their snouts in full rather than depleted money troughs!!
What can we expect? how did they come to power and how have they remained! by all the normal means of third world countries.

If something said or done by a Thai feels not quite right, just doesnt add up, a tad irksome, then trust your own instincts and common sense as being the more likely providers of reality.

And where those don't work, they have amongst the best covid response in the world.
That's why the numbers in Thailand are so low and so flat. Has nothing to do with testing.
The strange thing is that some people on here actually seem to believe some of the above and even more incredulous choose to trust the military lunatics daily statements as having anything more than a extremely vague resemblance to reality.

I completely agree with Caldera. Gov't claiming 3rd wave peaked on 23 Apr, was either wishful thinking, or blatant propaganda, or both!
Just the normal total boll@cks this group of non elected military relics masquerading as a government has been spouting daily for years when not nose deep in the money troughs!
Anyway enough sugar coating!

Rubbish.
They locked down hard, had curfews, near universal mask wearing, road side and shop temperature testing, etc etc.
Not to mention actively discouraged testing with less than 1% of 70 million tested!
This might just of had some effect on the low positive numbers and the dangerous perpetuated illusion of a virtually covid free Thailand.

Maybe someone could release a few billion of their pocket change to help out and arrange enough vaccines for all and adequate testing, medical facilities and care for the people? cant think of anyone in particular myself.

Utter boll@cks !!
How does testing less than 1% of the 69 million population over the course of a year make you a champion of anything other than total negligence and irresponsibility!

Nobody says that only 10,000 tests are performed in Thailand per day.
Maybe the guy who provided the figures on here a few days back got it wrong?
So as you are quite sure its wrong, perhaps you could provide a link to the daily figures of testing nationwide for the last few days, weeks or year!
This would provide a clearer picture of the covid situation and put the daily positives figures into perspective.

Im probably missing some major points here but if they are testing around 10,000 a day or less a figure quoted on here by someone who had done his research, that is such a miniscule amount in relation to a 70 million population.
If roughly 1500 test positive a day out of that 10,000 then we have a horrendous positive test percentage and if they managed to regularly test 10k a week in each province what would the true situation be..........I guess they prefer not to have that information as per the policy of the last year and the charade of a miraculously virtually covid free Thailand!

Is that a free and available test only if you can prove that you shared a bed with a known covid positive person for a few nights!!
Turning up with a minor fever ache and pains, cough and general fatigue probably still doesnt meet the free test criteria unless the policy of the last year has finally been reversed.

Yes the effects of the virus on the working classes is catastrophic but you cannot ignore covid and carry on regardless with no restrictions.
The responsibility falls squarely with the government to provide for its people in these exceptional circumstances and align a containment policy for covid.
Sadly this is not a real elected government and crisis management experience and moral obligations to its people may be in short supply.

Nice to see Phuket not listed.
Phuket will shortly be opened to the millions of tourists waiting to visit according to TAT so its probably close to exempt from Covid by some miracle ..........
Similar to the farcical charade of the of the rest of the country being virtually covid free for a year until some minor testing was allowed to happen and now the poops really hit the fan.!

Thanks I remembered a clinic local to me thats an outreach of the main government hospital here and it was 50ms from a shop I was needing to go to this morning anyway .....sometimes things fall into place and luck is with you.
They were about 10 mins from closing for lunch and a bit loud and rushed but got the same iodine and saline etc from nurse as I had already done but this time with a dressing and a cursory look from a doc, who did indeed give me the first of 4 rabies shots over course of next month and the first of 3 tetanus shots over next six months..........plus the preventive standard amoxycillin antibiotic course for a week as a precaution.
So guess if i keep an eye on my vitals for a while should be ok although cant see wound area because covered.
All bit of a shock with both parents succumbing to diabetes and both with limb loss I worry about foot injuries now im an old fart.!
Lesson learned if you are going to fight a rat put some footwear on because they will attack under threat.
Thanks all readers who advised feeling less rabid now having had the first jab! and stunningly a bill with change out of 500 baht.
Final thought, are a couple of small beers any problem after the two jabs ?
