This sporadic testing nonsense maybe 1.5% of the 70 million population will ruin the nonsensical charade of a virtually covid free Thailand ..........about as likely as a happy ending free nation!!

54 Covid-19 cases found in Bangkok after proactive testing in factories
Key words here being proactive testing .....if that was applied at the major city in each province nationwide a real picture of Thailands Covid situation would be revealed, which is why it isnt done.

Thailand needs to find the infected as early as possible
That would involve testing at least a few thousand daily/weekly in every province nationwide and further track and trace testing based on those results.
Simple enough but doesnt seem to be part of their head in the sand strategy!

What were the words of wisdom from the heart specialist,?
Even though type 2 diabetic and with a few heart arrhythmias problems my heart doctor has never mentioned blood sugar levels.
i find the top of the finger but on the left side is pretty durable for daily blood tests.

I thought they were only mass testing in the Samut Sakhon areas ........ so now we will have daily testing in the thousands in every province.
Sure the new daily nationwide test figures will show Prayut has it under control.

Indeed but the Thais who do work in the factories along side their migrant colleagues travel in their thousands to the provinces over the New years holidays.
With actual testing now happening in the thousands in Samut Sakhon and showing a 10% hit rate, one wonders what the reality of the nationwide situation is? only testing would reveal that.

Here is a link to an article on 25th last month where free covid tests and treatment are to be offered to all at risk people farangs or Thai in either a government hospital or private.
https://thesmartlocal.com/thailand/thailand-free-covid-test/
Cant see this being implemented, is their an update?

Thanks for the replies, had it checked at Honda and new battery installed, cant complain really it lasted 6 years.

Battery woes time....... this thread shows I replaced my battery on the click 2012 idle stop back in late 2014.
Well 6 years on its reluctant to start in the cold Issan mornings finally today very early .....had to be kick started and did restart on starter switch ok after running on stand for a few minute.
I guess this is simply a battery issue not alternator etc? and at 6 years life cant complain, so for the bike experts do i simply go to Honda pay up 1000 to 1200 shut up or are their simple easy better priced options available now in 2021 without having to fit it myself?

I think a more realistic number if they tested all across Thailand would be 3,000 a day. I suspect hundreds across Thailand have it but dont realize they have it.
Sadly reality is something the current bunch of ministers would prefer to avoid hence the farcical test figures in relation to the population.

Oh please be true. The utter chaos that this would spawn would be both hilarious and terrible in equal measure. I bet that the single most common job western foreigners do is teaching. Even if only 5% return need a positive result, school's would need closing and the entire student body would need testing as well as family members and other high risk groups. Hospitals would be swamped.
Probably better to not know imho.
Yep their would be an outbreak of nationwide testing as should have been ongoing anyway,.
Thailand will be seen to have covid widespread among us and the fantasy of virtually virus free Thailand will be shattered and it can all be blamed on farangs or migrant workers.
-
It would be a miracle if covid wasnt already fairly widespread among the population however the military rulers policy of only track and trace testing or quarantine returnees has allowed the illusion to continue.
Forcing westerners to test countrywide and the track and trace that follows for any positives will provide the perfect scapegoat for the reality that covid is around us nationwide .........
It will be the pesky westerners who have caused the new outbreak .... nothing to do with thousands of factory workers returning to the provinces over New Year.
Of course if a westerner has to test when renewing a visa why not test any Thai with some symptoms.?

i was admitted pre planned etc for surgery at the end of August 2020 to a private hospital and no mention of a covid test, but with a few tests nationwide in the last few months it may now be mandatory and as others have said the 4k price is not unreasonable.
Good luck with your surgery.

If you have Kbank and have their app you can transfer the money to your UK account with it.
Can you change to GBP here for a much better rate and have the stirling amount transferred to a UK account using your Kasikorn account or do you need to open a GBP account with them as well?
-
This I presume includes UK passport holders returning home.
-
Can you still do it up to 7 days late without financial penalty or does that vary office to office?

Did she tell the hospital that she's had contact with factory workers from Samut Sakhon? Might have made a difference.
I think it was mentioned to the doctor, but with Thais they are taught to accept and not to question authority and I am sure the mandate is to only to test as an absolute last resort other than for virus hot spots or track and trace.
Not a policy that will show the real Covid 19 situation nationwide, perhaps this is the intention.

I see the apparent strategy, however a week ago or so I highlighted the case of a Thai friend who was refused a test at a regional hub hospital here In khon kaen despite having many covid symptoms ,she was told its likely flu take paracetamol or if worried pay for a test at a private hospital.
The exclusion denial of test was because she hadnt recently been to the affected provinces, however in her village over the New years holiday their were at least a dozen factory workers from the Samut provinces, this scenario was probably the same in hundreds if not thousands of villages nationwide during that holiday period.
Since they chose to allow the New Years migration nationwide it would make sense to follow up with regional testing.

Do you have a link to a site showing the testing numbers daily and where testing is being done.?
The percentage tested daily in relation to the 70 million population and the percentage positives of the numbers tested daily would be interesting.
Thanks.

Looks, like the government is trying to play down the second wave.
As everywhere in the world, they should show, how many tests they are doing every day.
The how many and where tested daily figures nationwide havent been readily available from the virus onset.
I would imagine they might highlight a flaw or two in the Thailand is miraculously virtually Covid free fantasy.
