  1. The Click can't cope with holes having small tires and wheels, 80 or 90kph in the fast lane would be terrifying, I just want to get where I'm going in the safest possible way, the main lanes are for cars, lorries and big bikes etc I've done this trip many times in cars, big bikes and it's not fun using the main lanes but both forms of transport can cope with the poor road surface! I'm off again on Saturday but this time taking all day to travel, I don't ever want to hit another big hole, it hurts!!

    .......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

I have been riding a click for a few years now done about 27k.. Year ago started using a major two lane each way highway for a regular commute but always kept into the left shoulder and as the confidence grew bowled a long at 80kph happily.

But a few months back sun in the eyes had to get out of the way quickly of an oncoming truck and moved across to the inside lane without noticing the road surface was much higher and we were down down down...............it wasnt pretty and a hell of a shock .........bike and rider survived both equally scraped and twisted.

Now I keep the speed to 50 to 60 kph and watch like a hawk for bumps, holes, gravel etc and when moving off the shoulder or back I exercise extreme caution, my 70km trip takes 20 mins longer but it is now sometimes almost relaxing......................except for the idiots who still cut you up because waiting for a bike seems to damage their egos.

Finally a tech question for you experts, on my click which is regularly serviced I wanted assurance that the front shocks were ok especially following the accident, the Honda dealer said the forks were ok,then bounced it a bit, and said not very bad , not very good and sent me on my way.

Local bike shop did the same bounce and said ride was hard and the solution was 200 bhts and a few hours having shock oil added or changed.

Is that a normal procedure for front shocks, thought that if they were knackered you replaced them?? Honda shop didn't suggest either option.

I just want the bike to be safe and ride as it should do, after 27ks do Honda Click front shocks normally need filling or replacing, also had the drive belt replaced at 24k service would that now need adjusting some 2k kms later

    Opinions appreciated.

  2. They really are retarded!!! They continually bleet on about the image of Thailand and now this!!!!!

Doesn't the general and his staff monitor the actions of high ranking officials? so how the hell did he let this get approved?

Donating the reward to the victims support fund or worthwile needy causes could have been a useful pr exercise, but now they are the laughing stock of the worlds media more than ever before.....................

A box of dunkin donuts probably has a higher IQ than these idiots.

  3. An update , job done, first in the door to an empty office, very friendly humble and apologetic explaining a couple of recent bike mishaps and heavy work schedule and after a behind the scenes chin wag among themselves...................I was reminded to be careful next time and sent on my way without a fiscal penalty.

The boss knows my ugly mug over the years so I was lucky this time for sure .

  4. Use the reminder feature on your phone, saves a lot of grief.

Yes a thought for the future, however with 5 years of reporting this is the first over sight on my behalf just a mental block sadly.

So from the other replies in seems if I am apologetic and humble they will simply ask for 2000k at the worst and that will be the end of the matter, hopefully not asking for 6 weeks @200 baht a day on top.

  5. Just checked and stupidly I find I have missed my 90 day report for 21st July here in Issan.

What are my options?yes get to immigration asap, is their anyway to wriggle out of paying the failure to report fees? and how much are they if forced to cough up, is their a ceiling on the amount, I hope so ...........Im on a b visa with work permit about to be yearly extended in a couple of weeks.

    Thanks for any advice.

  6. Last week 10-20 people killed by the Bangkok bombing.

Yet 400 people killed weekly on the roads.

The bombing could not have been prevented.

Yet what puzzles me is why so much attention has been drawn to the bombing, yet little attention is drawn to the weekly carnage on the roads which could be prevented.

This is worldwide, day in day out hundreds die due to the lack of basic medical care, food and sanitation, endless innocent deaths from pointless conflicts based on religious fanatical indoctrination...................all easily preventable but we meekly accept this as being the norm.

However a bomb blast, a tsunami. a reactor explosion, a plane crash, a 9/11 etc etc we are gushing with grief and messages of condolence.

Really we should be immersed in disbelief as how shallow we are as a human race and although stunning advances have been made in technology, how far have we evolved as a balanced society?

  7. It would be wonderful if the NES teachers here could form a union which forced the minimum wage to be at least 45k in the boonies and 60k in Bangkok and 12 month contracts with proper medical insurance! Bupa policies with 50k limits don't cover major accidents or heart attacks etc.

Also how many teachers are obliged to work in non air conditioned classrooms in 37 degree heat surrounded by mosquitos and share pretty poor toilet facilities, whilst the school pours funds into any ceremonial events ignoring basics.

  8. Disgusting rats all over the beach..............but if they werent allowed to scam tourists with their jetskis, they would soon be gone.......... but poison is a step in the right direction although a tad extreme.

As for the litter it does seem Thais are simply not educated to pick up rubbish.

I was at a beautiful lake area exercising on a machine, a couple of girls were feeding nearby, when finished they simply stood up to go, leaving the plastic bags and bottles on the floor. I suggested they put their post snack debris in a rubbish bin a mere six feet away..............they couldnt have looked more shocked or horrified had I suggested a threesome in the bushes!!

  9. Used this company recently, well the bus was the exact same livery........... short 2 hour trip but suspension clearly shot and oil fumes coming from the AC, the attendant just smiled when I mentioned it.................many of.the Thai passengers and myself were all covering our mouths etc to try and combat the stench.

Saw a bus a week ago same company and thought it was my eyes or the effects of a heavy night before, this bus was bouncing front to back front like a kangaroo on yaba, clearly something very very wrong.

Poor maintenance is a major cause in many of these accidents.

Nakon chai air ..excellent,Phetsapert tours very good, Chan tours pretty good and 999 Thai transport, Yellow bus all have reasonable records, but with the lesser companies using knackered pass their shelf life buses it becomes a safety lottery.

  10. A natural disaster, very tragic and rip to the victims seemingly 3000 up.

As usual countries rally round and offer their support and practical assistance........all good.

I wonder however at times like this, about the very unnatural disaster we live with year in year out.

Thousands of children who die due to a lack of food, medicine, sanitation and basic education in preservation.

Also the thousands who will die each year, victims of war zones or terrorism, where conflicts are often based on religious indoctrinated hatred.

A country not too far from here has sent supplies to Nepal, yet in its own back yard hundreds of thousands lack basic toilet facilities, adequate medical supplies and food.

It accepts enormous amounts in aid from other countries although has just ordered a batch of fighter jets.

    Strange world!

  11. And what about Phuket Airport day light robbery fares and the tuk tuks in Patong?

They will more than to "attend an attitude adjustment course"

It would be a fantastic step if the Junta really did follow through on their anti corruption policies and went head to head with the Phuket taxi and tuk tuk mafia and forced the correct prices and procedures.

So much ouput now about their fears of the image of Thailand and the treatment of tourists....................yet in Phuket the prices of transportation are fixed at a level way above Bangkok, yet you would think Phuket and its surrounds being their tourist hub and flagship, should be closely monitored for blatant scams.

I wonder how the staff in the upper levels of TAT actually keep their jobs but.......................we all know the deal!

  12. BANGKOK: -- TAXI DRIVERS who tamper with or refuse to use their meters and those who damage the country's reputation by abandoning their passengers will face heavier penalties, the Department of Land Transport said yesterday.

Great they are concerned about damage to the countries reputation.

    However the favourite scam.

    http://www.tatnews.org/tat-collaborates-with-the-department-of-tourism-to-eradicate-jet-ski-scams/ Aug 2014

Blatant extortion of tourists with threads of violence, allowed to operate with the full knowledge of local and higher authorities.

    Continues today!

Why? if their is genuine concern about the image of Thailand....................
