  1. Well, I did sign up 3999bt promo for the year ,and must say that I'm pleased that I did . Not had any probs so far except Astro channels dropping out due to weather ....as used to happen when receiving it ,or True , via satellite before.

Not being able to quickly switch between games can be a drawback , but being able to watch any program that was broadcast on any of the 6 channels over a long time span , on demand , more than makes up for it .

Tried it on another laptop and it also worked , so ,for me at least , no issues so far.

  2. ^^ Agreed .. there is an element of Darwinism to it.

    Crazy people do crazy things.

Though, it's still acceptable as a form of transport.

At the Farm, we will load up the front cabin with those at the head of the Social Pecking order ... the rest sit in the back.

Bit of a callous statement I know ... but it's a reality where I am.

Judging by the number of times you've admittedly found yourself in the back , then maybe you're not considered so high up in the pecking order at the Farm then ? Bet you always pay for the fuel though ! ( I know I always seem to !)
  3. So,I asked the wife and her answer , surprisingly, was that it would be treated no differently than any other considered 'petty' offence . This was in relation to any local temple ...any famous temple or such patronised by the Royal Family being a different kettle of fish .

Similarly , de-facing an election candidate's poster would get you in deeper water than doing the same to one advertising an hotel or such .

Normal rules ,of course, do not apply to Farang offenders !

  4. Just for info, if it helps, Nok air commence BKK-KBV flights in the new year ....just gives another option on the connections.

I often do the 2 sector trip between Krabi and Ubon via Bkk ,and personally wouldn't consider a taxi between Krabi and Phuket .

I drive the route regularly and it's not the most relaxing journey in your own vehicle ,at your own pace, let alone at mad speeds in a taxi racing all the minivans.....

  5. Assuming the article is correct, in that the police have her ID card , then I suppose that if/when they pay her a house call ,all she has to do is deny eh? I mean, if she isn't stupid enough to leave the supposedly stolen chain or any other evidence on full view , then it's his word against her's and she'll probably counter charge with not being paid for services rendered ....or worse still, claim assault or similar .

The only Thing on the old Iranian's side being the fact that she didn't collect her ID ....but that will count for nothing in any Thai court.

So, good luck with the insurance claim ....now go enjoy the rest of your holiday ...relax ,enjoy ,maybe rent a jet-ski !

  6. I used to be a policeman in England (many years ago) and I thought a policeman's duties were to catch criminals, when they were thieving etc. at all times not merely on a specific week-end as a publicity stunt.

Right. No publicity stunts announcing crack downs on everything from criminal gangs (who'd have thought) to snooker (tearing apart the fabric of society) in old blighty.

Met Police launches crackdown on gold thieves

A POLICE operation to target the rising theft of gold across London has been launched by the Met today (September 16).

Match-fixing crackdown working, say officials, after Lee's 12-year ban

The former Metropolitan police chief driving snooker's attempt to rid itself of a reputation as one of the sports most vulnerable to match-fixing insists it has moved "a very long way" from its dubious past, despite the record 12-year ban handed down to the former world No5 Stephen Lee.

Pubs and clubs to face closure in rape crackdown

Police in the country's biggest force are to use the licensing laws to shut down pubs and clubs where high levels of rape and sexual assaults take place as part of a radical attempt to create a hostile environment for rapists.

Yard announces crackdown on criminal gangs

The number of gang members in London has spiralled to almost 5,000, Scotland Yard revealed yesterday as it announced a multimillion pound crackdown on the people responsible for a huge proportion of violent crime

And all those caught were most likely given the ultimate deterrent of the equivalent of a 100 bt fine .....and released to carry on as normal.....NOT !

  7. My wife is friends with a slow loris tout here in Pattaya. The tout pays money to the police each month to not

be arrested. Am pretty sure it is the same setup in Phuket. So for the police there to suddenly make a big deal

with a new " crack down" there after the Rihanna photo is just another example of Thai hypocrisy......

This same tout on occasion has also sold slow lorises to the Russian tourists....

Would that then make it a slow boris ?

Russian tourists actually buy them .....can they take them as hand luggage on Aeroflot .....!

  8. "After the proposed prices are disclosed, the Commerce Ministry will negotiate with the winning traders."

Can someone please explain how thai bidding works? Where I come from the highest bid wins, and that price is the final price. You do not start renegotiating afterwards.

Maybe it means that they'll offer the winning bidder a discount..... provided that they agree to the official pretence that they paid top dollar for it ..?

  9. Send the wife on a free hair-dressing course , work from home ,minimum outlay/ risk . Even in remote villages ,the boys and girls are more concerned with their hairstyles than anything else . Also , wifey can pretty much choose the hours to suit ...and nothing's lost once the novelty's worn off and she can't be arsed anymore !

  10. Quite simply , the much vaunted ,but nowadays seldom practised, concept of Kreng-Jai - Consideration for Others just doesn't exist when applied to driving. This .in itself .perhaps being a manifestation of the rapid social/materialistic development of the country .

The general lack of fore-sight or taking responsibility for consequences of actions can equally be applied to the roads. After many years of driving here , this is the only explanation I can offer for why indicators are rarely used , rear lights are rarely replaced , and pulling out blindly into traffic is the norm . There is no explanation for why extremely dangerous overtaking manoeuvres are routinely performed only for the vehicle to then stop or turn left a few metres on .

It still baffles me that people that can sit patiently for hours watching the rice grow find it impossible to wait a few moments at a road junction or behind a slower vehicle ,until it is actually safe to pull out.

  11. Well, i'm sure you have guessed wrong, most countries will only sell alcohol to over 18 or 21. i can send my seven year old to the shop for whisky and fags here. not in th uk

The youngest "gambler" was a seven-year-old... wow! It makes me wonder how young the little thais start drinking whiskey

About as young as the youngsters in your country, I guess.
That's exactly why its so difficult to stop in Thailand, because foreign parents openly admit to sending their 7 year old's to buy tobacco and booze.
He said that he CAN , not that he does or would ........understand the difference ?

  12. I think that it's a great idea and TAT will win out! Thailand has a great deal to offer including low prices. I like the slogan "Happiness You Can Share" and I think that we all need to understand that "Thailand" is not just the type of joint that you can find in Phuket or Pattaya where, the TAT slogan should be "happiness you can drink"

Well, I'll agree with you .......just as soon as I witness millions of quality tourists flying in to watch the rice harvesting !
