  1. I know an American guy who overstayed 17 years and did not go to immigration He was caught for a motoring offence. Fake passport and he is still here after paying some "tea money" to someone. 17 years overstay and maybe an unreceipted 20000 or more paid to someone. LOS

  2. You can also use some of the blue water pipe and some cord. Put the cord through the pipe in a loop then place over the snakes head and pull the cord. Carry away from the house or drop into a sack for rehousing later. ;)

Thanks for the advice but to frightened and shocked to try it. To late now as its dead

  3. You really need to watch who you pick up and bring home.:whistling:

I do watch who l pick up but this was an uninvited guest who was not welcome. Had to change my pants a sip a few more whiskys when l saw it was a cobra. The only spitting cobra allowed in my house is in my pants

  4. Yesterday after having a shower l came downstairs and noticed what looked like a 2ft piece of rope right next to my computer. Not being sure what it was l grabbed the nearest brush just in case and the thing was a snake. It slide away whilst l went out to get my Thai shovel so l could either move it outside or kill it. Well l could not find it and left the house to go to a wedding lunch with friends thinking l would try and find it when l got home. I saw it again laying under my coffee table next to the settee in the lounge so went and got my shovel again but it had dissapeared again. Looked around but could not find it so sat down on the settee and watched TV for a couple of hours and had a nap. Found it later under the rubber strip on the bottom of the mosquito screen door in the lounge with just its tail showing so gave it a prod with the shovel. That must have upset it because it came out with raised white ringed hood about 4" of the ground and began attacking my shovel. Belted it a couple times and it was dead. Must have come in via the back door where the rubber strip on the mosquito screen is worn and there is a gap so will get it replaced today. Frightening experience which l would not want to repeat so all TV forum contributors please be careful if there is a snake your house as you never know what brand it is.

  5. Four Seasons Sunday Brunch is outstanding. A huge range of top quality food from many food stations which includes unlimited wine, beer and cocktails. Starts again in November 1,500 baht a head last year.

Is this Restauant way out of town near Mae Rim or is there another one of the same name in Chiang Mai?

Its in Mae Rim on the way to the elephant camps. Bloody expensive so take your Amex gold card

  6. Pies etc. should always be defrosted in the fridge, and if you are using a microwave to heat your pies.....well you just <deleted>*ked them.:bah: A pie should only be heated in an oven.

That's what i thought ,but if the pie is cooked in the oven long enough to heat the meat, the pastry top gets inedibly hard. That could either mean a visit to the dentist is required or the pasty is hard anyway.

I would have to agree here, no food is good from the freezer to the table that quick.

Microwaves also make beef tough and pastry soggy, unless its a convection microwave, then it has half a chance, the best way is to defrost in the fridge overnight then slowly heat in a convection oven.

Good morning and i see you have warming problems for our curry's, when SK tested the heating time we use industrial type microwave which maybe why our time is not same yours,But good info for us to know that and thank you very much for being honest,We also understand the problem about the rice cooked before the curry and as all microwave curry's are packed like this the only thing i could say is take the rice out of the microwave dish and if you are going to microwave the curry then cook the curry for 4 min and the pop the rice back in the microwave box and cook for another 2 min. thank you for your comments and at sausage king its our customers that count and we listen to them as we want to keep high standards for you.we also happy you like our Indian curry products. We Have 25 years experience with Indian foods and we do tone down the chili for the most people not eat to hot. If you like hot then pick the Vindaloo. if you like you can add 1/2 tea spoon chili powder before cooking or chop 2-3 green chilies and add to curry after cooked. We can make any curry but we find that chicken Tikka masala-Rogan josh-Vindaloo-Korma are the most popular. we could produce other curry's if in demand. Sorry that one of you got to Rimping and stocks were out but we stock every 2 days and now we stock in all 4 Rimpings. Have a nice day. SK Rob.

I have no problems Rob as l always defrost the rice and curry first and then microwave for about 4 minutes

  7. Right, just phoned all the hotels (calm beach, bamboo mountain and sweet home Phuket) and we have all been booked in all paid for in full?? So acording to that, we have got all our accomidation paid for. Just wondering what to do now. Unseen travel have said we are getting picked up at 17:00 outside their office tomorrow. So we will have to go their and see.

    And recommendations?

    Cheers

Just go on the trip and learn from experience. Everything maybe okay but l doubt it. Several travel agents are being investigated in Chiang Mai for similar scams. Good luck and have a nice trip

  8. Me and the misses just handed in ALL the paper work to get one for Chiang Mai, and then they lit a bunch of hoops on fire and asked me to jump. Just some the documents they wanted:

-Copy of wifes ID card and house registration

    -Letter from immigration stating residence

    -Chanote of condo

-Letter from condo management saying I live there

    -Copy of condo buying contract

    -Proof of income

    -Copy of passport

    -Photos

There is more, but I forget and will have to did out the envelope.

We also have to return with a Thai person of good character to vouch for me, and they need copies of their id and house reg.

I was about ready to cut open my finger and pull down my pants to give them a blood and semen sample as well. blink.gif

The nice lady also informed us that it will take "a long time" for it to go into the system. Sigh.....TIT

I did not need any of the documents you had to provide here in Mae Jo. All done free of charge in 10 minutes. Free coffee also

  9. Power boats are used all the time on the Kuang Reservoir in Doi Saket. They even have a boat ramp. There is a 16 foot boat trailer and motor for sell at the LP fuel station the 118 going towards Doi Saket just past the PTT station. and there are jet sky boats and power boats for sell at a car dealer at the intersection of the 118 and the first ring road, Northeast corner of intersection.

Does SK know something that we do not. Maybe he is getting ready for the rainy season and the floods that may come next year. We can call him and he could come and rescue us.

  10. Today l went to Amphur in Mae Jo as my wife wanted me to have a Yellow house registration book to the house she has owned before we met and married.Worth about 2/3 M baht It has no mortgage but we do not live there as her father and sister are in residence. I did not want a yellow book for my wifes property but have it now anyway so my question is of what benefit it will be to me both now and in the future. Nice property and we may move there in the future as we are renting a house nearby at the moment but l do not want to share with relations as l like my own space. What a good wife to do the yellow book anyway

  11. Went by there today. Same flea market atmosphere the they usually have at Thape Gate. Only difference was a big sign in English that said NO Smoking No Drinking..BTW what happen to the city ordinance last year that said no more flea markets at Thape Gate, only to be used for official ceremonies. :whistling:

    Nice photos TNX

FYI..all markets in CNX have cigarette smoking and alcohol drinking bans. That includes carrying an open container of an alcoholic beverage. This regulation has been in force for the past two years.

No smoking or drinking so whats the point in going. I bet they do not ban eating smelly food

  12. if only we could receive ASTRO up here in chiang mai.

We have Astro and True visions in Phuket and the programming for the English language channels is pretty much identical, except True has better sports coverage.

Thats not true. Astro has more English language programming compared to True Visions Platinum. Eg: Fox, Australia Network, Al Jazeera, Fx, CI etc etc etc. A lot more HD channels too.

It would be good to get Astro in CNX but not possible. Its a shame we are not able to get multichoice from South Africa on the dreambox as we used to get SKY news(UK) and all the cricket and rugby live. Now we are back to True Visions package which is cr_p apart from Grand Prix and English Premier League

  13. I had a Samsung Galaxy Spica model GT 15700 which l could not get used to so recently sold it. Bought a HTC wildwire which is much easier to use with android technology and half the price. Check it out before buying

  14. You do not need to book 3 days in advance. Just go to the bus station and get a ticket. When you get to Pattaya you will find that most guesthouses are half empty so you should be able to get a cheap deal for 3/4 days, Whilst in Thailand why not come to Chiang Mai. Lots to see and do

  15. Have you considered boxing it up, checking it as additional luggage, and paying the overage fees? Might be cheaper than shipping and bypasses the additional hassle of dealing with shipping customs people. This is what I did with all my belongings when I relocated here form the US.

    -Mestizo

Thats what l did from the UK so you have full control of where it is at any time. No problems with Customs here as it is for your use

  16. Try GRAND VIEW super high way 145Bt net farang food/Thai food/sussi/salads and deserts what could be better starts 11-30am:rolleyes:
