i have just bought a new laptop and had a few problems so l called a Thai computer expert called Nik who came to my house and sorted all the problems out on my computer and that of my wife. Nice guy who speaks very good english who undertakes work for several farangs and his charges are far less than going to the various computer plaza's around CNX and he does home visits. So if any TV forum members require a good computer repairer etc please pm me for a contact tel no and e-mail address. You will not be disappointed

I have been there several times and never had a bad meal and inexpensive compared with Sizzler. I like the home made pate with the warm bread that comes with it. Also beer and wine not expensive

I have resisted the temptation to add to this inane thread until now. Despite "Freedom of Speech", I thing the moderators should nip threads spreading unsubstantiated rumours in the bud. I am sure that "The Authorities" monitor forum(s). By airing your fears, loopholes in the system etc. in public, you play into "The Authorities" hands.
Surely it is better to "keep schtum" .
Many thanks for the update in CNX. There are certainly unsubstantiated rumours which are unfounded and cause concern amongst us long term residents

I've always used http://www.queensgardenresort.net/
they are there at the airport with a sign with your name on it and they take
you back to Swampy next day. Rooms clean, operation efficient. About USD $27
Thats where l stay in Swampy. Rooms are clean and the last time l was ther it was about 1000baht a night

It's a cobra, but finish your beer. All snakes are cobras.
Agree and time for the kill as he may come back
-
Actually, dogs make v good 'ratters', not bad at getting snakes either :-)
Really lovely looking GSD. Wish l had a big enough garden to keep one

The Night Bazzar DEFINATLEY does not have "original " shirts, so lets not go down that road.
However I'm pretty sure the sports shop in Robinson's at Airport Plaza does.
My Wife's son is a mad Liverpool fan and we are able to buy not only the kit, but jackets, track suits and much more Liverpool stuff. But I can't remember how long ago we last brought one, but I DO remember that they had the black away top there when I was last shopping there, about 2 months ago.
No Reading F.C. gear though
Nobody seems to have heard of us
If you still don't get any joy and are desperate why don't you order from the club's website?
I have heard of Reading FC as my friend Gary Peters used to play for them before going into football management. They have had quite a good season. Almost as good as my local team Brighton who won promotion to the Chamionship this year

Has Why Not restaurant opened at lunchtimes now. Also does he sell wine as well?

it's a beautiful and harmless Golden Tree Snake

They have one in a tank at CM Zoo too...

Now I feel bad.
Don't feel bad about it as this afternoon l killed a cobra inside my house. This is the 2nd time in 3 months that l have had to do this. Better safe than sorry is my motto. I would say that snakes are on the increase because of all the rain

Arrived home from Airport Plaza in CNX and saw what l thought was a trapped Gecko by a hinge in our back door. Opened the door to try and release but it did not move as l could on;y see its tail. Went outside to get my trusty shovel and gave it a poke and out pops this 18inch cobra and as soon as it see's me its up with raised hood and trying to strike me. A few swings with the shovel and its deceased exactly the same way as the last one. Forum members are saying that snakes are in decline but the dangerous ones do not appear to be in decline my house/garden. My motto is better to be safe than sorry. Also if you have accident/life insurance as l do does this cover
hospital treatment in the event that you die from a snake bite?. Being a diabetic a snake bite can have serious complications on the recovery aspect
-
i encountered a 5foot snake last night,i could see from about 30yards away a cat trying to attack it but the cat backed off,it looked like a cobra the way it was acting arched back mouth wide open and striking quite fast ,i approached it but it made off at a fast speed,i got in one blow to the body, then it turned on me head up mouth opened and ready to strike quite scarey ,i got in another blow then he climbed up a tree then i managed to kill it [140cmts] brown on top with light underneath, went into siam-info sight and found it was a checked keelback,a snake that shows all the caracteristics of a cobra one to set your pulse racing but not poisonous.
Good for you....well done.....lucky it was not the last of its species huh.
I agree better to be safe than sorry and l would have done the same having had an encounter with a cobra in my house

If Pattaya Police are handing out Knighthoods why don't Thai Visa do the same? Arise Lord Techno of CNX

A good colour photocopy, shrunk down to credit card size and laminated, of your passport facepage.
Reverse side copy of current visa extension or visa.
Stick it behind Thai DL in your wallet.
Been doing this for years, and never been asked, yet.
Passport stays locked in my safe, where it properly belongs.
i have a laminated credit card size of the main passport page and extention of stay at the rear. Also carry Thai drivers licence which is all l usually need

Thanks ThaiPauly - I think you get a lot more car in the fiesta that the jazz or mazda for the same money. I read that the free insurance is available from their website - how much did you pay for it? Maybe you got the body kit in liew of that. In a few weeks I'd appreciate if you can also post your fuel economy and opinions about performance in different situations. Thanks...
Will do.
With the other extras I paid just under 720,000. Both the body kit AND Insurance were free.
Pauly the Fiesta Sport i am road testing today is priced at 699000 including full body kit, road tax etc, insurance and 3 year warranty. I think Ford are running a promotional campaign
-
I started exactly the same topic a couple of months ago and it took me a long time to make up my mind and i got a lot of help from posters on this forum
In the end I picked the Fiesta and I collect it on Monday, just a week after ordering. I went for black, but if you want white then the wait is much longer.
I chose black as I don't like the plastic black trim that comes with every color, with black it fits in, also I dd not like the fact that there was no visible exhaust , so they are fitting chrome tail pipes (for free!!)
What did it for me was fuel economy, the voice activated air con controls and audio, the styling the performance, its definatley nippier than the Mazda, the 24 hours roadside assistance which I hope I never need, they also gave me free insurance and a body kit (worth 16,000B). I belive the free insurance co-incided with the offers at the BK Motor Show so I don't know if they will still do it, but it was not available before April for sure.
Fiesta have now sold one million cars since their launch in 2009 and from what I have seen on youtube they get good reviews. Where I live in Chiang Mai they have sold over 500 since they were launched here 6 months ago.
But FWIW and IMO don't go for the leather seat option at 16,000 baht. The times I test drove it my back was soaked after just 15 minutes driving. They are NOT factory fitted, therefore have no warrenty. After I declined them , when I went to see the car when it arrived they went to pains to show me a group of Thai guys working in the service area recovering the normal cloth seats with leather.
Like thats gonna convince me to buy them
I have always had leather in all the cars I have owned here and have found a place that does top quality leather for 10,000 baht more, and in any colour, at Ford it just comes in balck
Thanks for your experience with the Ford Fiesta and it looks a great car. I saw the Fiesta Sport yesterday on show at Big C in Chaing Mai and l am arranging a test drive for tomorrow before deciding if to buy one. The Fiesta is assembled in Rayong with some parts imported from the UK. Everything about the Fiesta Sport appeals to me especially with all the equipment and safety issues so looking forward to my test drive tomorrow

So what did you do?
We stood in the 45 degree rain, relishing its magnificent power, surrendering our blown-inside-out-umbrella. Our spiritual master, Ur Orang, sent us a message through the thunder and wind, which our human meat-package's poetic component rendered, best he could, in pseudo-sonnet-form thus:
~
forty-five degree rain tastes
as if time were not in motion too fast for me to ever catch up,
the forty-five degree rain tastes like a wreathe over my grave
left too long, all wires, dried-out stems, on top of uncut grass
a lady-in-black-veil's not weeping for me: i get rain, not tears:
she keeps on asking strangers: why are these nights so long,
here, so near the equator: asks if this might be only accident,
a fatal error she's sent to a wrong world, for her to be dead in
i grow a giant mushroom on my snow-bound grave in answer:
explode its ripe underbelly, send angel-spores up over to her,
to take root in her lonely vacuum: grow on her rot into a truth:
we chose comfort of our rut, to be at home with familiar fears
but, either she's deaf, or she pretends not to know my angels:
she refuses to hear how each grave here's soaked, overflows
with memories of lost loves, how craven sobbing's ceaseless
~
peace, and stronger umbrella, be with Thee, ~o:37;
Stay in the bar and carry on drinking. The storm will pass over

thanks
i was sure it is a cobra but my thai worker insisted this is a ngoo sing which he has caught and eaten many times... as we have ngoo sing all the time and we had a few same looking cobras over the years so i recognized it but my worker made me doubt (and hope). i found it dead after my dogs had killed it the night before. we have quite a few snakes around here, almost on a daily basis we see them and many different kinds
It looks similar to a cobra l had in my house which l killed before it got me. Glad you dogs got it so you did not have a problem. Good dogs so wha breed are they?
-
Just try giving them to a BG as they will think you are a BG from Scotland wearing those fancy skirts and stockings

I am going to Phnom Penh in July so is it best to take US dollars or can you use a Thai Debit Card in Cambodia. If you can use a Thai Bank Debit card in Cambodia do you get the local currency or US dollars. Thank you

Help? So many good hotels recommended but from a earlier TV forum l booked the Golden Gate Hotel for me and my friends. No deposit paid so not a problem as l cancel anytime. I am going at the end of July and as l have not been before l am not sure if its a good hotel or not. Has anybody stayed there and is it a hotel close to all the nightlife. We want a hotel close to all the ":nightlife" so were wondering what the TV members would suggest would be the best comfortable and safe hotel to stay in. I have seen the prices shown in this forum and none are a problem so long as its a good hotel
Samsung Cooper

I have recently bought my wife a Samsung Cooper and were having the same problems. Managed to get wi-fi and internet set up. Go to a telephone shop that specialises in Samsung mobiles and they will set it up for you or visit their web site
