Motorcycle ride from Bangkok to Phuket?
moose7117 replied to ohmkorapt's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
people have different opinions, so i will only speak regarding my experiences in LOS. i have ridden Prachuap Khiri Khan to Ubon ratchathani in i day, and returned two up in one day. Prachuap Khiri Khan to Phuket in a day with same passenger, twice. PKK to Bangkok and back numerous times to get a Visa for PNG, sometimes solo, sometimes Two up. PKK to Buri Ram for MotoGP thrice, in a day, once with an Australian in tow who is completely unfamiliar with Thai roads. never been close to an incident. i believe it depends on both your riding ability and confidence. sure the roads can be bad, but ride accordingly. also left soi 24 Sukhimvit at midnight and was drinking beer at mom's bar in Pkk by 2:30 am. -
Bar owners are finding it hard to recruit Thai girls
moose7117 replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
I know a chap very well who has enlisted help on more than one occasion to have a "polite discussion" with a patron of his bar who has seen fit to be "impolite" to one of his stable. i can remember vividly being escorted down soi buakhao to provide moral support to a wee lass who had suffered the overly enthusiastic affections of a certain German gentleman. his affections were returned in kind and they were certainly not to his appreciation. but then it hard to argue with over 300 kilos of angry Australians. PM says no escalation of Covid measures for time being
moose7117 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I friend, who you have met, flew into Bkk last Tuesday, the entire package at the Bkk end cost him 4000 baht. he stayed for 1 night in a very nice hotel, had Limo included swell as all testing. cheaper per head if it is a couple. -

Maybe so, however simply hooking up the phone through the stereo head unit allows me to use the phone for calls and access the GPS app without having to actually put my hands on the phone. Here in the police state of Australia the fine for using a phone whilst driving is prohibitive, but you can still talk hands free and you get a much larger screen to look at when you need directions.

Wife and I are currently in Australia working and her car is on older model Volkswagen that we recently changed out the head unit, as the stock unit would not link up via bluetooth. Wife needs to run WAZE to find her way around as this is her first time being let loose outside of Thailand. We both have Apple iPhones and link the phones via USB to the car radio when we are driving that car. Looked at some of the dearer options that link via bluetooth but i have been advised against them due to synch problems. i also put a pioneer head unit in our car in Thailand that links via usb. I have found the Free App Called 'waze' to be the best navigator in Thailand, it is better than the standalone Garmin system that i have on my Bike. i think any reasonable quality head unit from one of the more widely known brands should suit your needs, just confirm that it either Apple CarPlay , or the Android equivalent before you purchase it. then try google maps and download WAZE ant give it a run. Waze is also very good at avoiding traffic as it is constantly being updated in live time by users, i have used it in 6 countries so far and it has turned into my default navigator.
