  1. This crazy Swiss man should be jailed for attempted murder for 10+ years perhaps. His attack was unprovoked and violent. As for the other Swiss man on the beach, I think it's too much to kick him out of Thailand. Jail him for a couple of months maybe instead.
  2. Why do some European men feel the need to hit a woman? If someone bumped into me, I'd apologize because it was probably my fault. If it wasn't, the apology will smooth things over. The man shouldn't despair though because he will lose his fat stomach while in jail.
  3. I disagree with the idea of kicking him out of the country. He made a silly mistake. If you watch the daily news at midday, the incident is minuscule compared to what Thais are doing to each other. I mean extremely miniscule in comparison. He regrets what he did. In a month everyone will have forgotten what happened anyway. Leave him be to look after the elephants.
  4. I think that is all you need. At Nakhon Pathom that's all I needed back in the days before I started to use the online system. But it would be safe to phone up the IO and ask if you speak Thai.
  5. I recommend you use the online Thai Immigration website for the 90 days matter. It's an excellent service and they remind you 2 to 3 weeks in advance when you need to do the renewal.
  6. I've renewed my annual marriage visa here 38 times. I assure you that the 400,000 baht must be in a Thai bank. Also you will need a bank statement on the same day as you go to Immigration.
  7. Expecting an improvement at Swampy Airport is like expecting the annual renewal of the marriage visa to be simplified. It's not going to happen because of the mentality and culture at the Head Office of Immigration. The oldies there still think like 20th century people.
  8. Dear Swiss Man, If you are reading this, I hope by now you realise how badly and how stupidly you managed the situation. Apologise to the doctor. Your fragile Police connections mean nothing now that the matter has become public news. If the woman reports the news to Khun Noom on Channel 3, and I hope that she will, you and your wife will be disgraced nationally as you will be invited to appear on the 12:35 p.m. programme, and your Police connections will not dare to help you. Indeed, they will disown you from then onwards and there may be consequences for you. Man up and say you're sorry. You should feel ashamed for assaulting the woman. ... And for the sake of your health, try to lose 30-40 kgs.
  9. Perhaps the airlines don't mind (half-full) flights. The hotels will not be happy either because people won't fly to Phuket, Krabi, Samui, etc. If you live in Central Thailand and have a car, you can drive down the coasts and stay at quiet and deserted beaches. You don't need the airlines with their expensive tickets.
  10. It's better that he was arrested in the UK rather than Thailand because in Thailand he would simply be freed after paying a bribe to the Police of a few million Baht, which maybe he could afford. Also, in the UK the flight attendant can sue the man for injury and loss of income.
  11. It's better that he was arrested in the UK rather than Thailand because in Thailand he would simply be freed after paying a bribe to the Police of a few million Baht, which maybe he could afford.
  12. The easiest way is to have 400,000 Baht in a Thai bank account and leave it there. The interest rate for all bank accounts is low so the 1.25% interest rate of a deposit account doesn't matter.
  13. 1. If you're a foreigner in Thailand, the Police will catch you eventually, so it's silly to rob, steal, and kill here. 2. I watch the Thai news at midday and see news about this and that person having been murdered every day. I wonder why people feel that they have to kill someone to feel better. The Police will know who the suspects are and you'll simply be on the run forever afterwards until eventually you're caught and you spend 10, 15, 20+ years in a horrible jail. Then when you leave prison, what do you do? Nobody will want to know you, help you, or trust you.
  14. I have felt for many years that it is too dangerous and too risky to spend time in Pattaya as a tourist. It's not worth the risk unless you have lots of time to spend in a hospital and a well-funded health insurance policy, and you don't mind being robbed by kateoys et al.
  15. Brenton needs his family to say this long healing prayer for him. He'll be all right.
  16. The pilots probably have rules to follow, but a more sensible approach would have been to ask the passengers if they wanted to return to BKK with all the delays that this would involve or fly on with the body on the flight. Also, the wife would probably have appreciated not having the huge expense of transporting the body back to Germany.
  17. I think that a lot of people will be thinking: "Thaksin has paid a lot of money to all the right people to receive special VIP treatment, so of course, he won't have to wear an ankle bracelet. That's part of the package. After all, how could he heal from his 165 life-threatening illnesses if he had to wear an ankle bracelet?"
  18. The silly Russian doesn't realise that the Police can find him within a couple of days. Then he'll be in big trouble. He should go back to the barber and apologise for his behaviour, and give him an apology tip, and then all will be well. The Police will catch him at the airport and then he'll go to Immigration jail.
  19. Kateoys will hope that this accolade attracts more tourists because they seem to make a lot of money by stealing gold chains.
  20. It sounds like this was going through someone's mind at THAI: "The only thing that will make us happy again and restore our beloved airline's reputation, which he has destroyed globally forever and ever and ever through his comment, is to sue him for 10+ billion Baht so that he has no money ever again, no money to buy food for himself and his family, no job, and nowhere to live! We want them to starve and to be destitute for the rest of their lives. How dare he express his opinion! How dare he!" ... THAI needs to calm down.
  21. I wonder if THAI will sue me too for clicking "Like" on this comment.
  22. I hear a rumour that THAI is holding training courses for their employees about: "How to Shoot Yourself in the Foot", "What We Must Do to Lose Customers", "How to Annoy the Public so That They Refuse to Fly With Us", "How Airline Corporate Offices Can Make an Airline Go Broke", "How to Bully Customers", and lastly "How an Airline Can Behave Stupidly Online". ... Rumours! Rumours! Rumours!
  23. So much ignorance is being shown here and on Thai social media about this incident. I used to backpack a lot in the 1970s and 1980s. Back then it was much more difficult than nowadays if you had a problem. There were times when things beyond my control happened and I had little or no money for a (short) while. So many people helped me with kindness in different ways during my 13-month journey around the Caribbean, South, and Central America, for example. I typed out my diary about this particular journey about 6 months ago and I recalled what happened. Sometimes backpackers need help. I'd have helped this woman out if I had been in the restaurant because I know about (budget) backpacking. I hope that you will show some compassion if you meet a backpacker in need of a meal or two.
  24. Although I don't intend ever to drive to Pattaya again there seems to be a need to have health insurance and theft insurance for people who do go there because there are just so many incidents involving theft (katoeys) and violence in Pattaya. You even need to avoid walking under condominium balconies in case a suicidal or parachuting foreigner falls on top of you.
  25. I don't think it's sensible for a woman to wear a short skirt, let alone in a shopping mall with escalators. Also, they can't sit down anywhere unless they have a big cushion with them or they fold their legs in a very awkward and uncomfortable way. But it's up to them.
