  1. Guys one more time, I just give the information somebody asked for.

I'm not obliging anyone to use it.

I just like it that the fast track service exists since I hate standing in line for anything.

And I know for a fact that Suvarnabhumi is not the only airport that has this kind of service.

  2. So many comedians and people with either inability to read or too bored or perhaps just enjoy posting useless information.

I have clearly stated that I am in pattaya and yet "some" advising in bkk.

I have attached a photo for those not familiar with what a diary is and "some" suggest Facebook or pencil sharpeners .

A note book is not a diary.

I have clearly stated and listed all the shops I have been in and they do not have it, and yet " some" will continue to insist

so special to Nalak, since you so confident , rather then argue with you , I have a proposal for you!

    1. You buy me that the proper diary from foodland on pattaya klang( with receipt ) and I will pay you 1000 baht for it plus 10 000 baht for the troubles. However if you fail, you will pay me 10 000.

    Is that a deal?

Thank you to a couple of people who have addressed the actual post and provided useful information.

  3. How do you post a letter or send an E mail with out any money.

He can't come up with 10baht to stick into a computer to send some email..? Please...I'm sure i could find 10baht in a few hours if i had to just by looking around for coins on the floor on in phone booths, or vending machines...

exactly and if the OP is so concerned about this person and this issue of not having 10Baht to send this possible life changing e-mail, why doesn't he take him to an internet cafe and pay for an hours worth of internet and the terrible situation could be changed. Or just get an e-mail address and send an e-mail on his behalf.

    Smells fishy...

I thought we were past the scam theories. There could be dozens of reasons why an email would not work. To name just a few :

His only remaining close relatives don't have internet or he cannot remember their email address.

He has no more close relatives and or friends left.

    etc. etc.

  4. well thanks for the replys up to now. First I know the man is telling the truth, because i and my wife has spoken to the head monk in Thai .He told us that they have been to the British Embasy, The Do not repatriate people now , they stoped doing it two years ago, I have not been scammed or conned,or given him or lent him any money, How do you post a letter or send an E mail with out any money, I have seen his state of health and the cloths he wears, I know where he sleeps and i have seen working cleaning and doing meanial jobs as instructed by the monks, I am goimg back to see him on Saturday, to see what can be done if any thing. I will update again and maybe get some more infomation.

If this is true I would try to contact a british newspaper.

I'm sure they would be interested.

Not a bad idea that, So its confirmed then that the British Embassy DO NOT REPATRIATE. I hope Brits over here don't blame the embassy and their staff. Its obviously another of Tony and Gordons caring governments cut backs.

So the morale is, as a Brit, if your luck falls foul in LOS, bar for the invervention of a good samaritan, or friends/family with disposable income/savings to send over, you are totally and utterly f_ucked. Stay lucky everyone. ;)

I'm not a Brit so cannot contact the British Embassy to ask for confirmation of this.

After all we only have the words of a Thai monk sofar.

If however this is true then shame on Great Britain. And here I was thinking that my embassy was bad.

  5. One also flyes Business class to relax before the flight, do some shopping, possibly have a shower as my destination from Bkk airport is not so close. Having children travel with you makes it all the more reason NOT to rush things. Sit back, relax, let the girls go out shopping whilst I enjoy the surroundings. Maybe some just want to rush evey hour of their life. Not me.

children should never be allowed to travel in business class as they dont know how to behave :annoyed:

How would you know his children do not behave ? :o

  7. Read again : - swan through immigration in 5 minutes -

    yermanee

Good for you, however swanning through in 5 minutes is rather pointless if you have to wait for your baggage, better to keep that 1200baht in the skyrocket, that's a longtime with a friendly beer bar hostess.

I've never had any problems having to wait a long time for my luggage, but imagine how much more quickly you can be in the skyrocket, where ever that might be.:o

Furthermore I have my very friendly wife waiting for me, that's 1200 baht saved on a beer bar hostess. And please don't tell me there are cheaper available :D

And I think that it's up to me on what I spend my money. I'm not telling you that you have to use the fasttrack service I leave that entirely up to anyone who might think it's worth it.

    But that's just me

  8. Thanks a lot fore that useful information. I will give fasttrack a try. 1200 baht for the service won't break the bank.

1,200 Baht to save one hour? I will happily stand in a line people-watching, listening to my music, smiling and watching the world go by.

    rolleyes.gif

Standing in line after long haul flights is not much fun! I travel a lot and hate queues, 1200 is not a lot of money to swan through immigration in 5 minutes as opposed to xxx minutes.......

    JH

    No checked baggage?

Some people, like me, occasionally value our time at prices far in excess if 1200 baht/hour. Is worth it if you value your time in such a way.

    Precisely !

The older one gets, the more precious the time one has left. Better enjoy it, it's limited you know.

  10. Well, we are in the middle of a Songkran Rain Delay here in Chiang Mai. Just had 20 minutes of hard rain. From the weather radar, it looks like a bigger mass of wet air north of us. No one I know can remember a Songkran like this one. Oh... Thunder and lighting moving in now....

we had huge booms of thunder last night and this morning. lightning lit up the sky. its been rainind solid for 7 hours now. beginning to tail off now but the sun is nowhere to be seen. it should be on its way to you in chaingmai soon. hopefully it will keep the road deaths down here as people dont like to ride in the rain. fingers crossed.:jap:

Wow, 7 hours. Where are you located?

    London perhaps ???

  11. I use the FAST Track service inbound and outbound now, can't be arsed with lines, it's bad enough having to travel all the time.

If you get the same guy at the fast track service a couple of times he might offer you a deal, wink wink, nudge nudge......

    JH

Could tell me how to get the fast track service and how much it costs. Thanks

    Try here : http://www.thaifasttrack.com/index.php?p=1_10_Fast-Track

  12. Yes...missed one great category. Stock up yesterday and don't leave home all week! Oh...and drink beer...

    Exactly !!!

The fridge and freezer are full.

My Songkran experience is limited to a visit from family members who come to pay their respects and throw a thimble of scented water over my left shoulder muttering sawatdee pimai.

It's a great time for small children but that's it.

  13. I am Qatar Airways Gold Card holder and have asked before about upgrades. They are consistent in answering that only when economy is overbooked will they do upgrades and I never received a freebie when travelling in economy. QA considers themselves a premium airline and only want full fare paying travellers in First and Business.

Nope incorrect-I held Silver status (forget actual name) tail end of 2008 with a half full economy section but I was upgraded from Doha to Heathrow to a Business Class section that was virtually full.

QATAR are the only airline that has upgraded me.

I would not have been happy paying a business class fare for that seat though.

Contrary to you I have not had any free upgrade from Qatar Airways. Am now denoted to silver from gold because was 50 miles short.

Have had many on China Airlines who I used to fly a lot years ago, and most recently free upgrade from business to first on Etihad.

However am booked with Qatar for my next flight purely because of a very good promotional price.

  14. My thanks to the OP.

Good to know I'm not the only one on TV that has reached the age of wisdom.

Also good to know that nothing has changed really, youth still has a couple of things to learn from us old-timers .

  15. Again, it seems with respect, that Beetlejuice has slightly missed the point. If you read his post carefully, it seems to be more the case that he wouldn't want to seek help, rather than they (family or friends) would refuse to help. When the chips are down and the embassy contacts a friend or family and asks if they would stump up for a one way ticket for a stranded relative or friend, the chances are that even if they didn't really want to help, they probably would, when put on the spot.

I admit that I have no knowledge of Beetlejuice's situation with his family or friends and accept that it may be they they would indeed refuse to help or that he is totally alone in this world But somehow, I kinda doubt it. It would be more a case of him not wanting to ask for help. In any case argument is purely hypothetical as clearly he would never be faced with such a dilemma.

Anyway, I think I have made my point. Let's leave it at that.

Although I don't disagree with you, there are some people who don't have close family and/or close friends in their home country.

I'm 75, been living in Thailand for over 25 years, which means that most of the family I ever had have unfortunately passed away and the rest are estranged, same as with most of the friends I had.

It is also my experience with my embassy that they are not there to help their fellow countrymen/women in case of need, they are there to improve their own life with as many perks as possible, and it is also true that criminals get more help from the embassy than people in need, but that's modern society.

    But that's just my opinion.

    Yermanee

  16. You know, not everyone has family or close friends they can turn to in their hour of need.

Some people just do not have close family or the family is not interested.

Friends, well, you know the old attitudes; a friend in need, is a friend to be avoided. United we stand, divided we fall.

Friends are OK if you can stay at they're level, but once you have problems, they turn the other cheek.

I've been let down badly in the past and have always been a survivor because I had to be. My incentives being that I wouldn't give people the satisfaction of seeing me down in the gutter.

I would never in a million years have came to settle in Thailand if it was not well planned, felt that I could not survive here or had to rely on others for their help.

I don`t ask anything from anyone or want anything from anyone. Learn to stand on your own 2 feet and you will always succeed in the end.

My favourite people or those that push, strive and make a success of their lives. I would help and give my all to anyone if I consider them worthy. But I have no time for self-proclaimed losers.

Or perhaps I am unique, but I don`t believe I am.

No, not unique, but a rarity indeed in this day and age.

    Welcome to the club
