Depends on the venue. I still use cash for lunch each day and they get the loose change etc if its not an even note. Places that are "cashless" don't get anything. I am dead against a cashless society.

New Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe says his "preference" is to build a new stadium for the club that can also "serve the north of England". United have played at the 74,310-capacity Old Trafford since 1910, but Ratcliffe acknowledged it had become "tired and in need of refurbishment". A new stadium could be built next to the existing ground in Trafford Park. "It's about time someone built a national stadium in the north of England," said the British billionaire. Ratcliffe added the potential project could be a "catalyst for regeneration" in south Manchester and would therefore warrant a "conversation" with the government about using taxpayers' money. In his first broadcast interview, with BBC sports editor Dan Roan, since completing his deal to buy 27.7% of the club, Ratcliffe added: "If it can be achieved, it would clearly be my preference. "I would be very excited for the north of England." He said there was "significant bias in terms of major investments being in the south". Old Trafford has not been chosen to host games at Euro 2028, and last staged a Champions League final in 2003 when AC Milan beat Juventus on penalties. READ MORE

The BBC is taking you behind the scenes at Mercedes and Williams as they prepare for the new Formula 1 season. In an eight-part series on BBC Sounds, F1: Back at Base gets rare access inside the factories in the build-up to the 2024 campaign, which starts next week in Bahrain. As well as charting the race to build a new car, the podcast team speak to seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton after he announces he is leaving Mercedes for Ferrari in 2025. Broadcaster Holly Samos also interviews Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff and Hamilton's teammate George Russell just days after the news emerges. The podcast also has access to Williams drivers Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant throughout the winter. The main focus of the series, which follows the teams from November to February, is to reveal the work that goes on 'back at base'. "There is not really the right level of understanding and of what these days, weeks, months represent for the success of the season, for the teams," F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali tells the podcast. "This is not a moment where people are sleeping or recovering." Check out F1: Back at Base on BBC Sounds FULL STORY

The Rugby Football Union considered selling Twickenham and buying a 50% share in Wembley, according to a document seen by the BBC. The Twickenham Stadium Masterplan Programme (TSMP) revealed that the RFU board discussed the proposal in March last year but no formal approach was made to the Football Association (FA). The RFU will instead focus on redeveloping Twickenham, which has been England's home ground since 1909. "Previous considerations looking at the viability of moving to alternative sites have been rejected," the RFU said in a statement. The TSMP said the RFU wanted it to focus on exploring the 'stay' option and "did not advance the 'leave' option whereby the RFU would explore the potential to dispose of Twickenham Stadium and purchase a 50% share of Wembley Stadium". England have played at Wembley twice - against Canada in 1992 and Wales in 1999. Renovation plans in the TSMP include reducing Twickenham's capacity from 82,000 to 80,000 to "improve spectator comfort", repairing the roof and improving transport connections. The work would be carried out between the end of the 2027 Six Nations and the start of the 2028 tournament. Costs of £663m quoted in the TSMP are for completing the whole plan, but it will not be undertaken in its entirety. The RFU said: "The RFU board has not agreed any new redevelopment plans. "Work will be undertaken over the next 12 months to consider next-stage designs and assess what interventions might take place and when within the existing stadium footprint over the next 10 years." It is set to be the tightest Premier League title race in many years. Manchester City's 1-0 victory over Brentford on Tuesday evening lifted Pep Guardiola's champions above Arsenal into second place - one point behind leaders Liverpool - with 13 rounds of fixtures remaining. For the first time since 2015-16, when the third-placed Gunners were two points behind leaders Leicester after 26 games, the top three are separated by just two points. In fact, that gap at the top has only been as tight at this stage of a Premier League season on seven other occasions - and only four times this century. Erling Haaland's 22nd goal of the campaign means City's hopes of becoming the first team to lift the trophy four times in a row are very much still in their own hands - with a crucial match against Liverpool coming up in March at Anfield. "It's a long way [to go]," manager Pep Guardiola said afterwards. "There are still many games. Of course, it's better to win. We missed the opportunity against Chelsea [on Tuesday]. "I'm so proud of the team. We are closer but we are in the real part of the season. [We have] tough, tough games in this period. We are there." Pep Guardiola warned Erling Haaland's critics "he will shut your mouth" after the prolific Norwegian boosted Manchester City's Premier League title hopes. Haaland's 71st-minute winner against Brentford moved City into second place in the table - just a point behind leaders Liverpool - as he emphatically responded to missing a host of chances in Saturday's draw with Chelsea. That Chelsea setback came just days after Haaland's grandmother died, and City manager Guardiola took the opportunity post-match to give his thoughts on recent critics - and journalists. "With top scorers or strikers who score a lot of goals, don't criticise because he will shut your mouth, that's for sure," said Guardiola. "Sooner or later, he is there. "Definitely, if I have to choose one [player to be running through on goal], I choose this one. "He was out with injury for two months and is not in his best shape and just had an incredibly tough week because he lost his grandmother. That is not easy for a human being." Guardiola, who said he never wanted to be a journalist, was asked what was wrong with being one and his response was immediate and cutting. "I am a manager," he said. "My life is better than yours." Guardiola also said Belgium playmaker Kevin de Bruyne has a hamstring issue, after already missing five months of the season. READ MORE

Red Bull will be the focus of attention when Formula 1 pre-season testing starts this week in Bahrain - for reasons both on track and off. For one thing, the future of team principal Christian Horner is in doubt as a result of an internal investigation being conducted by Red Bull into allegations that the 50-year-old has engaged in inappropriate and controlling behaviour towards a female colleague. For another, the car Red Bull unveiled at the team's Milton Keynes base last Thursday was a bit of a "wow" moment, even if chief technical officer Adrian Newey insisted that he did not consider it to be any kind of enormous step forward. The 10 teams have just three days of testing to prepare for the start of the season and can run only one car at a time. So each driver should have no more than a day and a half to become acquainted with his new car in Bahrain. Two-time champion Fernando Alonso was bemoaning this at the launch of his Aston Martin car a week or so ago. The Spaniard called the paucity of running "unfair". Alonso is guaranteed to be at the centre of attention this season, given the vacancy at Mercedes next season following Lewis Hamilton's decision to switch to Ferrari. As Alonso put it: "There are three world champions on the grid and I am the only one available." But the driver market is a discussion for a little way down the road. Right now, even the stars without a seat for 2025 will be focused more on their new steeds than their futures. Normally, it is hard to divine a clear picture of relative performance from pre-season testing because of the variables of fuel loads, engine modes, track condition, tyres and so on. But last year, the fact that Red Bull's RB19 was in a league of its own was clear from pretty much its first serious run. READ MORE

After every Premier League weekend, BBC football pundit Garth Crooks gathers his thoughts and gives you his Team of the Week. Here are this week's choices and, as ever, Garth also discusses the game's big talking points in the Crooks of the Matter. GOALKEEPERS Ederson (Manchester City): The Manchester City keeper has not made my team selection for some time. I'm not entirely sure if that says more about his defenders than it does about his own performance. However, the Brazilian had to be at his best during Saturday's 1-1 draw against Chelsea. City might have gone 2-0 down if it hadn't been for the brilliance of Ederson, who produced an excellent double save, with the first denying Raheem Sterling his second goal of the match. The defending champions may look back at this fixture at the end of the season as a defining moment. The title could hinge on the finest margins and Ederson's double save might prove to be the difference. DEFENDERS Nelson Semedo (Wolverhampton Wanderers): There were so many impressive performances for Wolves in their 2-1 win at Tottenham that I could have picked out any number of their players to be in my team. Nelson Semedo deserved a mention as he was outstanding. His ability to get forward, but also defend with equal measure, was impressive. He had a superb effort saved by Guglielmo Vicario when the rebound should have been converted by Hwang Hee-chan. He then produced the ball of the match in the second half for Pablo Sarabia, who should also have scored, and produced the block of the match to stop Dejan Kulusevski putting Spurs ahead. Playing with a back three seems to have transformed Wolves, allowing Semedo to cascade forward almost at will. Arguably Wolves' most improved player since his arrival. Lewis Dunk (Brighton & Hove Albion): It was Dunk's header across the face of the Sheffield United box that created Brighton's first goal and opened the floodgates as they won 5-0. Brighton were rampant, and clearly in no mood to repeat the performance they turned in against Luton Town, where they lost 4-0 to another team fighting relegation. Sheffield United admittedly weren't helped by Mason Holgate's early red card for his tackle on Kaoru Mitoma, but the defender got what he deserved. If players are behaving like this in matches, it will have been spotted in training and it needs to stop.
