  1. Just an update.

I went to chaengwattana immigration and the officers at visa section there seemed to know my dad personally. They were quite fascinated talking to me ofcourse in thai. When I inquired them about applying for permanent residence, they told me I can go apply directly for thai citizenship at some office near central world

  2. Honestly, im so fed up the past few days that international websites for example new york times takes forever to load. It seems that the problem only occurs at day time, now I have both fiber optic and true adsl and it seems both is taking forever to load, so surely it cant be a coincidence and something is really up. Speedtest to thai servers show full speed but when trying on international servers, we are talking kilobits here.

  3. Looks like some idiots(3 Divers) have been arrested for cutting the undersea cable linking south east Asia and Middle east to US and European internet systems. SeaMeWe-4 (South East Asia–Middle East–West Europe 4) along with damage to IMEWE (India-Middle East-Western Europe) and EIG (Europe India Gateway) has been damaged.

My internet has been severely affected, International websites take ages to load but Thai websites seems to operate just fine.

    Any of you affected?

  4. The below sites outline procedure to obtain PR for yourself (which should be easy) and from that citizenship could be applied for in the normal manner. As your parents did not have PR when you were born do not believe there is any direct route.

My parents did not have permanent residence at the time of my birth but they got it after few years post my birth so am I eligible?

  5. My 2009 model imac that I bought from emporium is showing symptoms of either a logic board failure or graphics but most probably the latter one. So what options do I have if its already out of warranty and could apple store in bkk repair it with fair prices or should I take it to pantip plaza ?

How much does it cost to replace imac's graphics card?

  6. In my experience anything from low range cat onnet ( silver) to mid range is crap. everyday from 12 pm to 7 pm the internet is totally unusable the ping jumps from 10Ms in bangkok to 100Ms and the silver package sucks at torrents, the download speed goes from maximum to 40 kb/sec in few seconds (looks like they are throttling torrents) however the case is totally different for higher end cat onnet package but it costs alot something like 9000 baht a month

seriously speaking true's 20mb/2 cable package is better then cat onnet silver package

  7. A little difference, don't expect what boy racers claim though, but it depends what engine you are starting with. Put it on an eco car and you will be lucky at a couple of extra BHP.

If you replace the filter box with a cone filter under the bonnet you could well lose power and economy especially in a country this hot.

A (cold)air duct, a wider well routed inlet pipe and a widening the airbox inlet would probably have a better result on a small engine.

What about Kn&n high performance air intakes?

  8. my current Air filter (stock) needs replacement so i was wondering if higher end air filters such Kn&n air filters are really worth it ?

Does it really improve the air flow resulting in more Hp, better acceleration and most importantly fuel economy?

Does anyone here know where could i get one ?

  9. Well, by the somewhat lackadaisical tone of your post, I'm guessing you don't actually want "the best", so with that in mind I'd recommend 2 products:

    1. Meguiars Scratch-X 2.0

    2. Meguiars NXT Tech Wax 2.0 Liquid

The first will remove scratches that don't go too deep into the clear coat, the second will add some protection. Both are suitable for hand application, and are easy/foolproof to use.

Check out the Thai Washer Car Club for vendors: http://www.thaiwashe...04b7&board=26.0

Meguiars ultimate wax offers more protection and improves the gloss better then their NXT tech wax 2.0

  10. Here was the prior ThaiVisa thread on TOT Fiber2U in BKK.... Nothing recent there...

    http://www.thaivisa....ibre-2u-in-bkk/

That thread included my last contact with TOT in BKK on Fiber2U, which was almost exactly one year ago... Guess it's time to check back again...

    Posted 2012-01-17 21:49:12

I live in the BKK Sukhumvit area... and here's what I've gathered from TOT on their fiber internet lately...

First stopped by their small office in what used to be the CarreFour shopping center at OnNut... Talked the internet lady there, and she knew what it was, but knew nothing about it... Asked us to check with the main office for our area near the Chidlom BTS Station.

Stopped by the Chidlom area TOT office today and went to the internet desk there... The lady we got didn't even recognize what we were talking about re fiber, and kept trying to sell us a wifi or DSL package... No thanks... Finally, I had my wife get her to call around....

And finally, we got a TOT engineer guy of some kind out in the field talking on his mobile phone. He knew what their fiber internet was, and when we told him our lower Sukhumvit soi, he said wait another six months or so... He said they had no fiber service in our area at present.

I live in the same area as you do and I have seen fiber optics cable laying around all sukhumvit polls and recently I have seen tot badged technicians dragging the fiber optic cables to my neighbor so you should definitely recheck the availability with tot

  11. LA is interesting, that ping is a bit out of whack with your results.

    http://www.speedtest.../2444603556.png

I am using fiber optic and my Isp has guaranteed me with better then average international bandwidth and the results are not fake

Is your fibre connection from TOT or 3bb? That's interesting that they say that about intl bandwidth. I've been considering a TOT FTTH package but I can't get any sense out of them regarding what the various packages mean.

Yes even at first i was confused about their ftth packages, i remember when i was signing up the sales person gave me a leaflet that had various packages and prices i was so dam_n confused because the leaflet showed 20 mb download speed for 2000 baht and another 20 mb download speed for 9000 something baht so i asked her whats the difference in both the packages it has got the same speed but why one is more expensive then the other and she didn't have any answer, so she called her manager and he told me that the difference is in international bandwidth and number of users sharing thats why its more expensive and he asked do i use more international sites and i said yes and he told me that if i take this package he will guarantee better then average international bandwidth.

  12. I have both the new Camry 2012 2.5 liter and fortuner 3.0d4d 2011 and Camry beats the fortuner hands down atleast for me. The fortuner averages around 9.9 km/L for mix highway and city driving where as Camry averages 13.5 for 60% city and 40% highway

That's pretty good for a camry! What kind of city driving is this? Where exactly? If you can calculate average speed for city driving, that helps determine whether the fuel economy is good or not. In my area my travels usually average about 30-40 km/h. 20 km/h in heavy traffic with frequent stops.

I live in sukhumvit-asok area and travel daily to salaya in the morning so yes there is traffic but not as bad as peak hours where the traffic is totally motion less btw I am also surprised its pretty good for a non hybrid variant Camry. Plus it also does 0-100 in 7.8 sec

  13. I have a 1.8 Civic w/o navi and very happy with it. I think the biggest difference between them besides slightly different interior and bigger wheels is the engine size.

I test drove the 2.0 and couldn't really the difference in acceleration and power from my 1.8.

could you elaborate a bit further on what is the key difference in terms of the interior is the quality between them same ? also does the 1.8 navi come with black interior ?
