TAT predicts 18 million foreign tourists in 2022, spending 1 trillion baht
dsj replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Does TAT think he knows more than the airlines do. For example I checked Cathay Pacific flights from BKK to HKG (I am looking for flights to visit Vancouver) and I now see that until May they have only 1 flight per day 3 times a week (12 flights per month), where before they had at least 4 or 5 flights per day 7 days a week (140 flights per month) -

I am under the impression that the Aus, Canada and UK Embassies no longer provided affirmation of income letters. This facility was withdrawn when the Thai Government changed the requirement from Affirmation to Confirmation. Has this now been reinstated Canada still issues them as of November 5th, and at this time they do not plan to stop issuing them. I have attached the form to fill out to take to the embassy.

Ubonjoe is correct, I just renewed retirement extension last week and I got a income verification affidavit from the embassy, I used proof of income from CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) and downloaded it. Also you will have to fill in a form to make sure you are allowed to marry. I will attach the Income verification letter that you have to fill out. Affidavit confirms pension other income 1.pdf

I was just at Foodland yesterday on Sukhumvit Soi 5 and they had several cartons of Camel Yellow. I smoke Mevius Skyblue and never had a problem with buying more than 2 packs, actually yesterday I bought 3 cartons, with no problems and I ask the girl the 2 pack rule, and she didn't know anything about as they don't impose it.

Extension retirement at CW report.
dsj replied to DrJack54's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Did you have to show pictures? mu Visa agent says that I have to submit 5 or 5 photos around my condo including room and building 3, Floor # and activites in my rooms. Yes this is for retirement extension. -
21 days? Fed up with waiting ..
dsj replied to Marjf's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
If you left Thailand and went back to the the UK and didn't go to any countries, then you don't have to stay for the full 21 days. Basically if you started your trip in Thailand and went to a safe country and return back to Thailand, then you are exempt from the 21 days. -
I use to fly Eva all the time from BKK-TPE-YVR, and they were really good. I stopped using them in 2013 and switch to Cathay as I couldn't get a business class seat for my whole family to go back to Canada for my Dad's birthday, so we booked on Cathay and I must say I like them better for the following reasons: 1. When Eva joined Star Alliance they increased their bc price 30,000 Baht more than Cathay. 2. The quality of meals went down hill, I would order a steak and they would served very well done, tuff as nails. Their Breakfast left something to be desired. 3. Schedule, On Eva I would Leave BKK around 5pm, then 3 hour lay over in TPE and depart TPE at midnight, and arrive into Vancouver around 9pm local time, I did like their departure time from YVR around 1am and get into BKK at 10am (Cathay has similiar departure time). On Cathay, I have 2 options leave BKK at 11am arrive YVR around 12.30pm (50 minute layover in Hong Kong) or their 12am flight (like Eva), I always took the 11am flight. I find the food is better on Cathay and the flight attendants better. Mind you with Covid, I haven't been back to YVR in the last 2 years, hopefully in April.

Using Wise from a Canadian Bank
dsj replied to dsj's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Thanks, what do you mean by having it tagged? -
Hi, I am new to using Wise, and I have a couple of questions. I want to send money from my Canadian Bank account (BMO) to my TMB account and have it show up as a foreign exchange transfer and not a domestic transfer that would satisfied immigration on Retirement extension renewal. I would do the 65K Baht a month method. My question is what payment method do I use on the Wise site? These are the options that I have, I also have to tell it the reason for transfer, so I assume it's "Funds for Long Term stay in Thailand." I should mention that the other day I tried a test run to see what happens and I used the Bill Payment method, and when my Thai Bank received it, it recorded it as Date Description Channel

Welcome to Thailand! 15,000 arrivals from 26 countries this week, say CAAT
dsj replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If you average for the 5 days 5,000 passengers a day and each flight has 100 passengers then they would need 50 flights a day. If 200 passengers per flight then only 25 Flights a day, realistically I would say 50 passengers per flight, so they would need 100 flights landing in Thailand, I can't see that happening. -
Yellow book requirements
dsj replied to thaibook's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
I guess I was lucky, I went to the Amphur on Thong Lor for my yellow book, and the only thing I needed was my passport, no translation or anything. That was about 6 years ago, took about 1 hour to process. I went back to get my pink ID about 1.5 years ago, and all they wanted was my passport and Yellow Book, took about 30 minutes. -
This might be off topic, but what do you do after you submit you TM30 and you change passport, so you have a new passport #

I had no problem login to my account, I just wanted to double check my TM 30 and it showed it.

Return back to Thailand Question.
dsj replied to Charlie's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
what happens if you just renewed your retirement extension last week and have have medical insurance in Thailand thru Blue Cross, Maxima Plan (Covers Covid)and it expires in December 2021 and you do a trip outside of Thailand in November, but come back before December, would they consider you to have proper insurance? -
According to Richard Barrow in his 2nd update. UPDATE 2: I’m told that if you are fully vaccinated and you fly from Thailand to a country or territory on the list and then fly straight back to #Thailand, then you are still exempt from doing quarantine. This will be good for expats and business people.
