my car has BKK rego, ive not had issue with road stops.
Not heard of a Sattahip quarantine.
There isn't one in Sattahip.
I went to town today & it took about 15 mins to get through the 1st northbound checkpoint.
They had closed the 3rd lane which forced everyone into 2 lanes & then opened it back up to 3 lanes about 50 metres before the checkpoint but leaving the 4th outside lane clear for anyone going right to the DS or uturning to which the smartarse drivers just went down the outside 4th lane then cut in right before the checkpoint & so backing traffic up.
Military or whoever they are just stood & watched.
All it needed were a few cones moved & all issues would have been resolved.
First time I was asked for the 7/11 printout as well which was a spot of luck on my behalf because it was the first time that I had bothered to print it out & bring it with me.
The lady didn't bother reading it just wanted to see it which was handy as I have worse handwriting than a doctor writing out a prescription.

U can go anywhere with taxi cab, they get u through anywhere.
Which of course completely contradicts the whole point of those checkpoints which kind of goes to show that they really are only for show

Announcements are expected later tonight about what will happen on Friday 1st May.
They do like a late night announcement which gives plenty of time for the rumour mongers to get fully into stride.

I think the real problem will arise when restrictions are lifted & the bars/gogos are back open.

Drove into Pattaya from the south yesterday, checkpoint on Sukumvit, checked wife driving licence and temp as she was driving also my temperature. That was all, on our way with less than two minute delay.
That's exactly what happened to me.
I wonder now what the purpose is anymore or if indeed there was any except to keep paying lip service

I think the Governor was appointed and not elected. He is beholden to his masters in Bangkok and does as he is told.
This is correct although a supposed democracy the Governors are appointed.
I think that Bangkok may been allowed to voted their one in though but he left due to ill health & was replaced by a 'chosen one'

Did the OP drive down there today ?
Asking for a friend, because I've been told that the checkpoints weren't being operated today for some reason (and there's a rumour they may be coming down in fact). Although the government has announced that the State of Emergency will be extended for another month, while hinting that some restrictions "may" be eased.Bump

I heard that there is a meeting this evening to discuss abolishing the checkpoints.
Maybe they have jumped the gun.
People are getting very impatient now

Do you (and everyone else who trots this out) ever stop to consider that maybe the restrictions that have been put in place are the reason, or contributing enormously to the fact that there are so few deaths here?
PH
I suppose that makes sense if you believe in Santa Claus & also believe that the Vietnamese government also did an absolutely outstanding job of their lockdown where a country just shy of 100 million that shares a land border with China of over 1400kms & had zero C19 deaths.
I can't understand why European, Iranian & the US governments aren't on their knees begging Vietnam for advice, can you?
I wonder what other life choices I should make here after considering the advice from what appears to be a dictatorship in all but name.-

According to 'she-who-must-be-obeyed' the alcohol ban will be lifted but not for bars, restaurants, clubs or hotels for May.
She said that regional governors will have the final say but will do as they are told.
Schools remain closed until July with a view to keep them closed longer nearer the date depending on how things are then.
All this from Thai media.
All this from a country with only 51 virus related deaths, I expect them to ban vehicles next year to stop deaths on the road.

Are there any checkpoints heading south on Sukhumvit after Klang? Not turning right
If you're heading South then stay in the left lane, they are no checks that I saw when I went through.
Other lanes are for entry into the Ghetto so you will be checked

The lockdown worked in Vietnam, they have just lifted theirs & must be the perfect example of the best way to have handled this as they have zero deaths from a population just shy of 100 million people & they share a land border with China that is over 1400kms.
The Thai government is proud of it's handling then the Vietnamese must be over the moon.
Gold star & top of the class for April ????

I had business in town this morning & I must say that it was a breeze.
Polite elderly military gent who did a quick check of docs but to quick to have read anything & waved me through.
Same on the way out.

If you take the 3240 to the Suk, you'd have to go through the Mini-Siam checkpoint anyways to get to that U-Turn just before Nua (assuming it's not blocked for some reason).
Soi Nhong Yai shows 3 entrances onto the Suk between the Mini-Siam and the Pattaya Nua checkpoints. Possibly blocked, maybe not.
Funny though, the diagrams the city put out show soi Photisan (or Potisan or Potisarn) but don't show the u-turn between it and Pattaya Nua for some reason.
Where did you copy that map from Kerry?

You are basically saying the U-Turn immediately before Nua (heading South) is open and without checks? A little surprising as from there you could access Soi Photisan and hence Naklua.
Ah, I was thinking of the ye goode days when roadblocks were there to shakedown drivers.
Oh how I miss those long past halcyon days
-
It's schlep but if you get onto the railway rd & head north until you get to the 3240 then turn left that will bring you down to the Suk, turn left onto the Suk then keep on & uturn just past BPH & bob's your uncle.
You could go down a load of small sois before the 3240 but it would take longer unless you really knew your back doubles.

That's what they have been doing in London by all accounts but using ubereats & deliveroo outfits.
New York mafia used pizza deliver in the 70's & were the forefathers of this kind of delivery enterprise.
