  1. Do not use batteries!!!

They are still basically the same batteries that are in lorries/trucks, heavy gel batteries that last 6-8 years if you're lucky.

The industry has been promising big grown up versions of the lithium compound batteries that our phones use for years with nothing in sight yet.

Go solar but only direct & rely on PEA for night or heavy cloud/rainy days.

A diesel back-up generator is a good investment but don't get one that is just powerful enough to feed your house, get one that is more powerful so that it doesn't have to run at 100% when needed because it will burn out.

Look at DC pumps etc but remember that they won't work unless their is solar PV power.

If you can get an overseas retiree who's worked on the rigs or Oz that has knowledge then try to get them to advise & self install using local workers (the panels are very easy to fit if you do it correctly).

There are 2 types of panels I understand so ask about both.

The main problem here is the lack of knowledge, training & engineering as was pointed out on here by another very knowledgeable poster.

Good luck & let us know how you get on please.

As far as I can tell, it's the small/medium size businesses which are giving most and trying to help their employees. Very little heard from the multi-billionaire, top 20 crowd.

(Not just here in Thailand, the uber-wealthy worldwide seem to be keeping a very low profile).

I have to contradict you here but overseas we were treated to a sing song from the wealthiest musicians in the world online to cheer us up.

You can't get more generous than that, allowing us to watch them for free while they croon from their grand palaces & pontificate about how great they are.

We are blessed indeed that the WHO has time to take calls from Lady Gaga while this is going down.

Maybe they can write a song that has the vaccine in it.

Is the Pattaya Floating Market site in or out of the road blocks?

As far as I know it's inside if you are going North on the 3 & outside if you are going South.

Does that make sense to you as I know it sounds odd but the middle grass verge acts as a border?

  4. On the map of checkpoints Thepprasit is open & there is a checkpoint Southbound that you have to go through to enter it, if you're Northbound approaching Thepprasit on the Suk then you either live inside the blockade or you would have gone through 8.

Moog, I believe that you are inside the zone, you are where they make the soylent green so be careful ????

We live at the very end of Na Jomtien (near Pu Pen) and therefore believe we are living WITHIN the lockdown zone. Correct ? I have not seen a fully transparent map so far.

Soon we need to shop at Big C Extra Pattaya Klang and Fascino North Road and if possible Central Festival.

I understand that only Sukhumvit can be used to enter the city for Thepprasit is closed as per report on Television. To get to Sukhumvit and to the center we would normally drive up Soi 4 Na Jomtien entering Sukhumvit near the now closed Elephant Camp.

However it is not entirely clear how we need to drive to get to the stores (probably very easy, no checkpoints to pass ??) but then I am more concerned how to get back (probably passing checkpoints) and what documentation we would need to carry if any (My wife is Thai, I am retired, rented Condo in my name, we both have Thai DL, TM30 for me)

Maybe someone living on Na Jomtien has already some experience how this is working out. Thanks for sharing.

Try the back sois until Jomtien 2nd Rd then up & into Pattaya, no roadblocks at all inside Pattaya
