Nothing bizarre about it. It was a polite enquiry, and based upon the numerous posts regarding signing up in Thailand or home country. Whereby others have said that accounts opened in their homeland, would not be subject to automatic currency conversion to Thai baht. You replied to a member, who opened his account in his homeland. You suggested he change his wise address to match his bank address. Somewhat ambiguous statement. And if your wise account is greyed out, you cannot change the address, without contacting Wise.

So are you suggesting changing my address to UK, will stop my UK pensions, being automatically converted to Thai baht, when I transfer my two UK pensions from my UK bank to wise?

Not quite sure where your post is leading to. I opened my wise account here in Thailand with my Thai address.

I have just spoken with Wise rep. I asked if a UK citizen residing in Thailand, but not a resident would be affected by having their funds automatically changed to Thai Baht? Response: There’s no confirmation that GBP you send to Wise will automatically convert to Thai baht starting May 2026. Currently, Wise isn’t issuing new currencies or account details in Thailand until May 19th, 2026, but this doesn’t mean your incoming GBP will be converted automatically. You can continue to hold and receive GBP in your Wise account and convert it to THB whenever you choose. If there are any updates about automatic conversion, Wise will inform customers directly. For now, you can manage your currencies as usual.

There are so many to choose from. And they are usually multi language. But I doubt you will get any built in " programmes" in English, if in fact you are referring to entertainment. It might ease your concers if you popped into immigration, and asked regarding the certificate from GSB. Mine is due in April and I will go with the same details as last year. I suppose it depends upon your local office.

I assume the other monies you referred to are in Bangkok bank. They do issue a letter confirming funds, but apparently it takes a week to get it.

Hi Ok. Mine showed 50/50 and CM accepted it. The letter showed both amounts. Took a bit of explaining to immigration. But the head honcho approved it. I did this prior to extension, to ensure it was acceptable, thus avoiding turning up, to be turned down. I am not sure which immigration office you use. Perhaps pop in and explain the situation with bank book and certificate. The bank book should show the original amount, which corresponds to the certificate. After all, they are only concerned that you have 800k somewhere in your name, that has not been touched for 2 months prior to your extension of stay. But this is Thailand and not sure if they will apply western logic. Maybe they will accept it with the usual bank letter, as per mine. But of course there will not be any bank statements for you. Finally, if they refuse, at least you have enough in your other account for this extension. Maybe next year, after depositing 65k per month, you could use the income method. And of course you could always revert the certificate back to cash in your account. Regards.

No. I take the bank book> 1 years statements and the letter confirming my account and balance. Plus the certificate. And of course, I always add a few baht to update the book before heading to immigration, which reflects the balance on the statements and letter.

Pensions are paid out on dates relating to your surname in the alphabet. Mine fall every 4 weeks on a Monday. And normally they are debited to your account at midnight, or just after the early morning bank run UK time.

Good point. Thks for the reply. It only works on dark mode in Apps. And search function for any site, produces a list of sites in dark mode. But opening any site does not provide dark mode.
