majority of local thais with money don't put their young kids in international schools due they don't want their kids to mixed with western ideas aka keep their thai identity then of course having their kids mix with luk krung with a mother as bar girl is big no no, then later send them overseas to study when they +18..
i think you're doing a smart choice here!
Sorry but i don't agree with that at all and see the proof of it twice a day Monday to Friday.

My little bloke (5yrs) goes to Kajonkiet in Kathu, not the 100% international which is the one higher up on the hill, the one he attends is 80% English curriculum and 20% Thai, he's absolutely powering ahead and enjoys it very much, the 1st term was about 60 odd thou and then on it's 51 thou a term.
The 100% inter Kajonkiet is aimed at students that will not be spending the majority of their academic life in Thailand.
We live in Chalong and it takes me about 25/30mins to get their each day.
He starts at 0830 and finishes at 1630.

Plenty of "tourist who bring in the money" at Kata Yai every day and non seem to mind the immense hardship of putting their towel on the sand and actually laying down on it...amazing stuff eh!!

Not sure of the name but we've had a lot of them in our garden near the fish ponds over the years, the other half found one on a Buddha statue whilst doing the yearly cleaning, obviously some numbers where somehow derived from it and a lottery ticket was purchased...

May have been mentioned but "Crisis" is worth a look.

Not sure if this should go on another topic but I have been meaning to ask about the construction on the road from Honda dealer through to Kathu. To me it is starting to look like a large mosque.
Been wondering that to, does look very mosque'ish

I booked a hotel for this upcoming high season. Upon confirmation, I was also sent this message:...
Yes, that is the rather-expensive Fast-Track service offered by one of the VIP lounges at the airport. It's an official service which probably has few customers!
You can use it with your Priority pass card and some others.

The odd time I have been approached and it is a very few times, they ask I say no and they continue on. Never once been " Stalked " by any of them. They are doing a job and know who is going to say yes and who isn't very quickly. Those that don't never last more than a few days
How do you know that?

Is it just me? I have never been approached by a timeshare tout.
You must be the same as me. Dress like a bum. One glance and they figure I'm just too poor.
I guess I'm in the same group then, have never been approached.

Not sure if i mentioned it but 'Banshee' is worth a look, has Antony Starr, Kiwi actor from Outrageous fortune.

Took the little bloke for a dip at the extreme Nth end of Kata yai again today, just loving the looks on the faces of the jerks who had the huts there, not as smug as they were for so many years, one prick that told me to move my car a few times over the yrs(not in the way or blocking anything at all) couldn't even look me in the eye.

For those who enjoy spy thrillers, the BBC has just started to broadcast "The Honourable Woman", an 8 part mini series with Maggie Gyllenhaal in the lead role. Available on TPB and my preference for TV, "eztv". Trailer here:
DLing e1 now, cheers for thatl.

i had a silly UPS some years ago, but deceided it was not worth charging it 24/7 for the little minutes you get in return when you have a black out
Those silly few minutes are normaly time enough to shut the computer down correctly.

Just a small point to remember and check when fitting a dash cam and not using the cigarette/accessory socket.
Do not cut off the plug on the camera and wire it that way. The plug that comes with the dash cam reduces the voltage to 5v so it's important to keep it. alt=thumbsup.gif>
Good advice, cheers for that.

It used to be nice (1990) but it turned into a stinky, crime ridden, polluted dump, full of disrespectful, racist, overcharging violent, scammers.
And that was 10 years ago on my last and final visit to the island of hate. With the (temporary) crackdown the crime rate is expected to go thru the roof.
LOL...you failed

Sunday 3 pm Surin beach looks so nice, all empty EXCEPT the club at the end has not started,
Kamala south of the Graveyard empty
north, same huts still on the beach an does not look like any one is doing anything about it
Walking Kamala today I saw a group of 20+ Army inspecting those huts on the beach. I see some in the tear down/salvage mode. It's happening. I think the fines are about to go into effect.
I don't expect Patong to be any more difficult than Surin or Kamala was i.e. nothing. Every one knows if they're legal or not (they're not). Surin was far worse with many permanent structures. It's mostly just huts on Patong. I think it's the former mayor's son who has one structure that's going.
We live in interesting times.
Without getting into the right or wrongness of having the structures on the beach do people think that tourists will be happier now without access to restaurants, beachclubs and chairs on the beaches?
Although I think it had gone way too far in terms of encroachment from my observations most Europeans seem to go the beaches specifically for those amenities...
It can revert to the way it was, you could order any type of meal/drink from people with menus and they scoot off to the legal restaurants over the rd and get it for you.

Some good news there at least.Som nam na...... Guess all the bad press created by the mafia there has finally
caught up with the place. I lived there in 2000 and loved it. Went back in
2009 and hated it. Swore I would never set foot there again.....
