It already has one of the world’s highest figures for Covid deaths but a new analysis has said more than three times that number have actually died.

"The local authorities are to install these in an area where local people and car users can easily see from the road"...
Awesome and amazing idea the banners, but then to decide to install them where people can see them...this guy's going places!

Your right it is his wife Noi. Wonder if the nightclub is open. Most of the bars reverted back to them except Dings at the front and one or two others. Key money paid by others all a wash.
Yes and a 2nd partner.
No the nightclubs closed but the Russians are selling food from it again, quite good actually.

Many come from the Muay Thai training locations to unwind. Lived there for many years. Talked to a few friends who work in the Muay Thai facilities just this week. Yes it is open and very tame. Friend of mine owns the entire Laguna Plaza in Rawai, not many places inside are open.
Your German friend doesn't own the "entire" Laguna plaza.
Of the sea side Laguna bars all are open except 1, the other side's going to be renovated.

Not really a good example. Laguna in Rawai has been going downhill for years. During pre-covid days, customer numbers were already decreasing at the outside bars.
I think most of them just priced themselves out of the market, especially when bars with sea views were selling drinks that were a third cheaper than Laguna.
It's been quite busy at Laguna the last few weeks and it's definitely busier around Rawai.
Kata and Karon still quite but can see signs it's slowly picking up over there.

Riding towards the circle on ChaoFa east in the evening and saw one of the big tour buses pulling into some accommodation, was a bit strange as I haven't seen one on the road near home for a long while.

Kudos, thanks, congratulations. Everyone knows that studies on animals are expensive and you might have protests from some greenies. So why not take real people that feed themselves and also are responsible for what ever happens to them.
Yeah right....kids

Thats the first think that went through my mind when the guy got out.
Taste like chicken .. everything tastes like chicken.
It's actually quite bland, a bit like croc, needs herbs and spices.

I've spent a total of almost about forty weeks on Phuket over the last few years and never seen a monitor in the wild until this visit.
Saw one on a Kamala back street a couple of weeks ago, and then another last week on the road near the Z-Cape complex in Laguna - both of them bigger than the one in the video.
I wonder if they have become more brazen since the tourist areas of the island have died?
They're all over the place

A former GF sent me a video two days ago to wind me up she was in a bar with many others knocking the booze back and listening to a live band so who is telling the truth she sent it to me as I had mentioned to her that I was fed up waiting for our little island to open up rather than to be serving beer under the counter in tin mugs the date and time was on the vid so I knew it was real
It was real, plenty of bars/restaurants open all over the island and have been for a few weeks.

I was speaking of the island of Phuket not Thailand. Guess you missed that.
Phuket is a sort of no option scamatorium. Usually wily expats can have ways to avoid the traps, perils and pitfalls. But Phuket ... everyone is in on the game. It's like a scammers union.
There are places all over the world very similar. I'm thinking Europe in particular.
But I have no use for that island. If covid did not humble this lot nothing will.
You've just proven how little you know of the place.

Selfishly I've quite liked the lot less people over the last couple of years but you can see it getting busier around Rawai/NaiHarn lately....????
