Only one country? What about Taiwan, New Zealand, Australia, etc?  Or you could argue that Sweden did it right. They almost had no restrictions whatsoever and just kept living normally.

As of now I wouldn't suggest that Sweden is a good example. It did have it's serendipity period, where it looked like minimising the restrictions and let covid-19 play out had its merits. Thailand also had its own serendipity period, where infections stayed low; but I suggest it's only members of the government who would claim it was completely due to their preemptive actions. Sweden has a population of just over 10 million and Thailand nearly 70 million. Deaths [which is all that really matters] in Sweden currently in the 14-15 thousand region, deaths in Thailand [as reported by those who should know] in the 3-4 thousand range. The math is easy but who comes out best in the long run and at what cost will likely never be really known.

If i hear your to do list i think it's better to buy a new car 555555 just kidding your list is a bit long but for sure the best way to do it properly and have your car live the longest IMO .

You might also consider a full respray -- LOL

Appreciate you are just looking for things you may not consider yourself.

Impossible to say what may be required without knowing the condition/service history/mileage of the vehicle.

It's a diesel and a truck. Therefore, unless it was unroadworthy [by Western standards] when you left it it will be fine with minimal effort now. Trucks are built to be abused and the manufacturers know they will surely be abused in Thailand! Tyres, you've already covered. Comments on 'VERMIN' is number one on the list -- those little furry buggers get everywhere and will eat anything when hungry -- not hard to track down -- if you have aircon make sure to check the interior filter. Brakes, not mentioned yet in posts, there will be surface rust on the front brake discs -- drive slowly and use brakes lightly for the first few KM's and then get them cleaned when you get the tyres changed. If the battery is a good make it could well be fine -- get it tested at a battery place if it's sluggish. If you need a replacement I would suggest Amaron -- made in India and stands up well to the climate here. That's all I would be concerned about but I do have experience.

As usual in Thailand -- no warrany available with these suggestions.

From what I understand they could go against the patent law and just mass produce it for themselves, under an emergency order. In practice I don't know what that looks like as I am sure there are AZ experts required to be present to make sure it all works - they could go all Breaking Bad and chain them up like Jessy Pinkman in final season.....

They already have an 'Emergency Decree' in place, they'll just say it's for the ubiquitous 'National Security'

BTW, when did Thailand start honouring patents?

Very self promotional, similar to there website.

Funny the company only has two reviews.

I couldn't find any other company either.

Hopefully they can get it together and start producing at levels  promisesd.

There not very transparent so nobody knows what the problem is.  They've pushed delivery to May now.

Not currently looking good for their "Hub of Vaccines in S.E.Asia" ambitions

They need to start getting multiple private companies that have experience making vaccines.

Vaccine production is very methodical and tricky.  Even experienced product facilities will have hiccups.

Having just one company making ONE vaccine has proven costly and a detriment to the Thai health system.

I understand that the company making the AZ vaccine in Thailand is the only company with, at least some, relevant experience.

    Siam Bioscience

Siam Bioscience Co., Ltd., the first and only biopharmaceuticals manufacturer in Thailand, was founded in 2009 to preserve and continue in the reign of His Majesty King Rama X what His Majesty King Rama IX had started—to care for the people’s health and wellbeing.

AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine is a modified adenoviral vector grown in mammalian cells. Siam Bioscience has experience with manufacturing and exporting products that use such mammalian cell technology such as, erythropoietin (EPO), which is used to treat chronic renal failure patients, and filgrastim (GCSF) for cancer patients receiving chemotherapy. The company's plants achieved multiple international standards such as PIC/s GMP, ISO9001, ISO17025, and ISO13485, provide an integrated solution for every step of the process and, as the largest biopharmaceutical manufacturer in Thailand, we have the available capacity to expand production lines in the future. With the world-class quality standards and operational excellence, AstraZeneca chooses Thailand’s Siam Bioscience as its technology transfer and manufacturing partner in ASEAN region.

It is what the EU did, even stopping deliveries to the UK that owned the process..

But the consequence of such a potential disruption in supply was far less than here in Thailand. With a similar population size, the UK had been proactive in ordering vaccines and at the time had a total of 500 million doses either already delivered, and in use, or firm orders in the pipeline. Whereas Thailand has been sluggish, seemingly lackadaisical even.

That’s the problem with taking the offer of a sinovac jab. You’re then precluded from getting anything else, at least from the government.

on the flip side, if you don’t take the sinovac offer, there isn’t currently anything else.

damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

Unless you're assessed as being in the front-line. Then you are being urged/forced to have an AZ 'booster' in a mix n match that is even less [zero?] tested than the existing 'emergency approval' testing.

Thanks yes I read it, unfortunately no studies carried out on Sinovac with variants of concern, only with the original strain covid-19.

The reality is that strain has now all but disappeared in Thailand, with delta the prominent strain we know that Sinovac's effectiveness is nowhere near that claimed in previous studies.

Agreed. And even that data is of little use to those of us who are in the over-60 group.

"The WHO said studies showed the Sinovac vaccine "prevented symptomatic disease in 51% of those vaccinated and prevented severe Covid-19 and hospitalization in 100% of the studied population" for adults aged 18 and older, when it approved the jab in June.

It added that only a few adults over the age of 60 were enrolled in clinical trials, so efficacy could not be estimated for that age group."

"At the time, the WHO said: "Vaccine efficacy for symptomatic and hospitalized disease was estimated to be 79%, all age groups combined."

However, it added once again that there wasn't enough over 60s enrolled in clinical trials to estimate the efficacy for the age group. It still recommends the vaccine for older people though."

I'm confused as to what your daughter and hubby were doing while they were eating chips, that can't be shared on this forum!  Having full-on sex? robbing a bank??  I think we need to know ????

I would approve of them robbing a bank whilst also eating chips -- confirms that the dexterity training I put her through has paid off --- go girl!

    Apologies, silly question.

My daughter and her hubby sent me a pic of them eating chips by the sea in Brighton; can't post it as they were doing other stuff at the time!

Very few things I miss but proper chips is on the list -- not French Fries or Freedom Fries of course.

I "think" that was the 1st round of a 12 round boxing match and they declared themselves a winner before the end of the bout.  I also truly believe that Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Burma did nothing materially different than the UK, Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, etc but for whatever reason South East Asia had extremely low Covid infection rates.  Now as they say, it is S.E. Asia's turn in the barrel.

From time to time 'governments' may benefit from serendipity. Some realise that and learn from it, they then take action to keep the ball rolling. Others kid themselves they were responsible for that beneficial situation, with inevitable consequences.

  14. My 2007 Toyota Vigo needs a replacement windshield. Major crack which is way beyond repair.

Would appreciate info on any, preferably mobile, replacement windshield services in Chiang Mai city area.

Also, likely cost if anyone has recent experience.

    Many thanks

Disclaimer: Other opioids and alternative cognitive stimulants are available. Studies have shown [links below] that many such 'substances' change your personality. They don't actually do that, they simply bring out the real you.

  16. "Nong Prue Subdistrict. Police Lieutenant Pisit Sincharoonsak, a deputy inspector from the Nong Prue Police Station was the first to the scene"

First place I ever heard of where a Lieutenant and a deputy inspector would be first on the scene for a bit of minor shoplifting

"with The Pattaya News reporters" --????- that clarifies the scene a little. They were also on standby then. Sounds like some snitch broke the news of an impending high-value heist. Did all parties give chase across the rooftops --- like in the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon movie ????
