Viral warfare could be part of it?

Sadly 'viral' and cyber' warfare is the future.

Countries who don't have 'military might' may be the biggest threat; as they aren't being distracted by needing to buy aircraft carriers/submarines/high-tech aircraft; to keep their citizens employed.

Obviously the UK is not a normal country,  the test and trace system is a £37 billion failure and the inevitable dismissals are notable by their absence.

Your so called "vaccine fiasco" pales into insignificance compared to the covid "highlights" in some other countries.

However, the UK vaccination programme is lauded as being one of the fastest and most effective in the world. Mostly due to getting genuine supply agreements for more than 500 million doses; and not a Chinese nor Russian vaccine amongst them. Similar population to Thailand where the figure may be less than 100 million.

Since day one it has been the dirty foreigner today it still comes back to the dirty foreigner when the fact is the problem has always been themselves and the border surrounding Thailand.????

Ironically it is those "dirty foreigners" they are desperate to get back into the country! Only the very rich slightly-grubby foreigners of course. Those who will spend tens of thousands of Baht every day. That's of course on top of the tens of thousands of Baht they need to spend to get into Thailand, plus more maybe to get back into their own country after their holiday [sic]. With almost everywhere closed, where are they supposed to spend all those Baht?

What makes you think or leads you to believe that this may be an issue for you ?

Agree .. "I want to know if i have TOO MUCH  .... or too little iron in my system" is not the sort of question I would ask unless there are symptoms.

There are many independent blood testing labs, we have one just 15mins away. They have proven to be 100% accurate and far cheaper than visiting a clinic/hospital -- who also use them and add a margin. If the result is outside of normal range then consult a clinic/hospital

     I remember those times well.

I wish I had a tenner for all the lock ins that I was at during my younger days.

The Breweries also had a huge input on the Pub closures, as it was more profitable to have the land on which the pub stood, as an asset for sale to developers.

Indeed --- and same-same right across the spectrum.

The likes of McDonalds, KFC, Tesco et al often only end on the right side of the balance sheet due to property 'investments'.

As with 7/11 here, the franchisee often commits themselves to debts way beyond their means --- the franchisor rarely looses.

I bank with HSBC back home so to say and they have not sent a card over here for years. I get it sent over by a third party..

Agree, HSBC have changed their policy about sending cards here; even though they still have a branch in Bangkok. Fortunately, I still have a UK address. The credit card was then sent here by my daughter. Activation was very easy via the app. However, they insisted that the first transaction must be physical using the provided pin code. Paid for a home delivery, no problem, but the delivery guy said they don't accept many 'overseas' cards.

For retirement you need to show 800k everytime you apply for extension (yearly) and it cannot drop below 400k in between. That is the current status, may be grandfathered if they double it.

Equally [un]well they may not grandfather it. As they didn't when the 800K/400K rule was introduced.

The, now more difficult to justify, 65K/mth income law at least allowed you to spend the full 65K each month. With the 800K/400K rule, you can spend 400K over 6mths but only if you have the income to replace it for the 800K period. The 'type O' retirement extension option has been mentioned in previous posts as the better option available. It is however a reverse 'soft loan' to the bank you are with. As with Thai bank 'credit cards' here, it's not credit when you have to deposit more with the bank than you can withdraw on 'credit'.

  9. I have been using an FCD account at CM for many years and never a problem. Now of course we need to have proof that our 'loan to the bank' maintains the 800/400 balance for the full 12 months --- at whatever the exchange rate is at the time we make our application. Since this new law came in I have been getting my local branch, where I obtain the letter, to simply photocopy all applicable entries in the passbook and stamp/date them. This year that was questioned by the IO but still accepted, which suggests next year may have to apply in advance to get a main branch [Bangkok] print out. Maybe I should try offsetting my reverse loan with the bank against my tax return LOL

  10. So what is China saying about these vaccines and their effectiveness?

They keep trumpeting the fact that these vaccines still prevent severe illness and death, which by all accounts, they do. Even in the Seychelles, all the people I interviewed who had Covid after getting the Sinopharm vaccine said that they have had mild symptoms and they were able to recover at home. But experts have told me that because the Chinese vaccines lag behind other Western vaccines like Pfizer and Moderna, in terms of efficacy, that really means that countries that choose to use them will take longer to reach herd immunity.

    "

    Why is that?

A couple of experts have done some modeling that shows that basically, if you use a vaccine with 90 percent efficacy against infection, that means you can reach herd immunity if 66 percent of the population is vaccinated. But if you use a lower efficacy vaccine, you need many more people to be vaccinated. So, for example, if the vaccine is 60 percent effective, then the portion of the population that needs to be vaccinated is 100 percent. That’s the real issue with the Chinese vaccines. They’re very useful for countries in preventing severe illness and death, but if you want to reopen the economy quickly, I think they would need to reassess whether using a Chinese vaccine is the best bet for them.

  11. I have dealt with LAZADA for years [including a big screen TV] and never had any significant issues. I did get a bit miffed with them when we couldn't use the wallet and started looking at SHOPEE more. Although the search function is not very English friendly, neither company are good with the accuracy of their search functions, I have found some benefits: 1. Prices can often be lower 2. Shipping costs are usually lower 3. Even though you pay when submitting the order, the funds are not released to the seller until after you have received and checked the goods. As for payment on LAZADA --- looks like all the options have already been addressed.

FWIW from my experience it appears that the sellers [maybe not the big companies] have very little input, other than packaging the goods ready for despatch. Shipping and payments are handled directly by the two portals. With LAZADA you can't choose the delivery agent. With SHOPEE you used to get a choice but now it usually is 'standard delivery'. I've found on average that SHOPEE sellers despatch quicker than LAZADA sellers.

Btw, did you know the inventing scientist of mrna was blocked from twitter and FB for saying that it's use does not do whhat the vax companies say it does?  Same with the guy that invented the PCR test saying that it doesn't reveal what the tester's use it for?

bunch of people who've never attended science class as "fact checkers" lol

On the subject of  'fact checking'  are you referring to this biochemist who spent the last 40 years researching the subject. And may [should] be nominated for a Nobel Prize for her work on the development of the mRNA vaccine? Dr Katalin Karikó. The one who posts regularly on Twitter; with the most recent post being just a few days ago? https://twitter.com/kkariko?lang=en

  13. Had similar problem, been using the Lazada wallet for years then suddenly "need to activate". Many attempts, all failed, last few with step-by-step instructions over 'chat'. The staff on chat didn't even know that foreigners can no longer use wallet. Money transferred to my bank account took ages. Eventually funds arrived but wallet still shows the funds there many months later!

  14. Covid: Why has Seychelles seen rising case numbers?

The Seychelles has vaccinated more people per head against Covid-19 than any other country, but has experienced a spike in cases.

More than 60% of the population has now been fully vaccinated in the chain of islands off the east coast of Africa,

But an increase in infections has led to new restrictions on its population of around 100,000 people.

I am sure it was also in the forum.

    Very limited expensive service remain.

Surprised they didn't do this earlier: I sent documents to the UK via EMS on March 3rd --- eventually arrived April 12th. Up until the day before it was still showing "departed Bangkok March 5th". Probably by boat due to a lack of suitable flights. Doesn't help the OP but anyone needing to send documents, DHL is doing a fine job -- sent Monday, arrived Friday. NOT PARCELS!
