  1. I read recently that in armed conflict a quite common ratio of belligerents killed relative to civilians was 1 to 10, now great play is made by some of words such as 'suspected'. However when the bearded warriors routinely hide behind the dresses of their womenfolk or use children as walking explosive devices then 'suspected' is about as good as you are likely to get, though for some reason I can't quite fathom the cries of indignation over the use of suicide bombers or human shields never seems to reach the pitch that it does with drones, which as oppose to carpet bombing the place is almost certain to reduce the ratio of civilian deaths versus armed militants.

The U.S. bashers are going to object to any tactic that effectively kills Islamic terrorists and might eventually drive them out of business.

To listen to you, anybody would think that the only form of terrorism in the world is Islamic terrorism. Terrorism comes in many forms. Since the end of World War 2, The US has dropped bombs on the people of more than Thirty countries with varying numbers of casualties, probably runs into Millions. No doubt in your blinkered view of world foreign affairs the definition of a terrorist is ' Somebody who has a bomb, but no air force!

  2. Iraq......Mission Accomplished. intheclub.gif

Yes, that statement by GW Bush is looking a bit more stupid every day, thats for sure. Reports just coming in of more suicide bombings in Iraq today, with scores dead and injured. Suicide bombings in Iraq were unheard of before the US invasion. The reality is that any puppet regime that comes to power purely through the military might of a foreign country hasn't got any legitimacy and will have little popular support from the people, as America are finding out in Iraq and Afghanistan, and will shortly be finding out in Libya and Iran. Poor old GW Bush really did believe that the Iraqi people would be so grateful to America for bombing their country and destroying the infrastructure, that they would be showering the conquering heroes with rose petals!
  3. You know it is things like this that make you wonder if you need a program to tell the bad guys from the self declared good guys.

Only if you think that "good guy" means a man without sin and there is no such thing, However Islamic terrorism is evil by almost any definition other than their own.

Surely you mean ALL terrorism is evil, whether it is Islamic terrorism or people detonating car bombs in a foreign sovereign country, killing scientists and their drivers.

  4. It'll piss off Israel, but make the rest of the Arab countries a little bit happier about Thailand. Either way, it gets Thailand's name in the newspapers for something other than a negative effect on tourism (e.g. Terrorism alert / flooding / tourist deaths), so on the whole it's likely going to be a good thing.

Less Israeli tourists would be a magnificent side bonus of this action !!!!!! And since this government seems to be so forward thinking when it comes to oppressed groups of people, they can now turn their attention to Pattani in the deep south, and free those people. Unless.......... this current action was simply a blatant attempt to ward off terrorism. I suspect if you gave a blank map of the world to most Thais and asked them to point out where Palestine is, they would be in trouble.

I dont think your comment about a blank map of the world just applies to Thais. Most Americans couldn't tell you where Iraq or Afghanistan were if you gave them a map that wasn't blank.
  5. Warpspeed. "And???? Seems applicable context doesn't it?" If you say so. I take the view that an American President quoting the activities of Gog and Magog to justify the illegal invasion of a sovereign country shows who the nutters really are!

What American President are you speaking of?? I've not quite been elected yet, in fact haven't even considered my candidacy...

What invasion were you referring to this time? It's really hard to keep up with all the countries people of your ilk have us invading..

I didn't realise i was of an ilk, thank you. Google. GW Bush, Jacques Chirac, Gog and Magog. Hope you will indulge me just this once Scott!jap.gif
  6. Unfortunately your naivety knows no bounds as the world is no longer disconnected like the past and one bad apple does spoil the whole bunch now theses days so it is an unfortunate reality that YES we (meaning the west as a whole in this case) have to be the worlds police until the rest catches up to the morals and civility of a modern society required to do their own..

Well it is your opinion as to who is naive but.............

this connected world as you call it is being spoiled by one bad apple?

Not to knock you off the high horse you have set yourself on but to call others

less moral & less civil is rather weak considering who historically is doing all the invading.

Thanks but I prefer we concentrate on cleaning our own home before calling others dirty.

We The People are in seriously bad shape here in the USA & if we continue to squander 24% per year of our income

on these invasions we will be the ones needing help....In Fact we ARE the ones needing help!

First off you aren't man enough to knock me off of anything but besides that I do as does my country and western allies have a right to take a stance on the moral high ground when it comes to the middle east so you can just drop that pretense.. That's not suggesting that the west is perfect but when the 2 regions are compared it's like comparing Sodom and Gomorrah to the rest of the moral world and it's obvious to ethical people which is which..

In your second prose, who's "We" you don't speak for me nor do you even speak of the majority of anything so no business claiming "We" in your context..

Sodom and Gomorrah? Next you will be going on about Gog and Magog!
  7. Fortunately for this murderer, he can confess to the Holloway murder and the USA will pull him right out of Peru on the next flight. After all, if the US can get Sweden to send us their slimy weirdo accused of rape as many believe, I'm sure they can persuade Peru to send us this guy.

No, that won't happen. I would bet the house on that. The USA is very happy where Master Sloot is rotting right now. It would also be very rude to Peru to even ask such an absurd thing. Not to mention any murder trial for M. Sloot would need to be in Aruba or mainland Netherlands.

Sorry, did I mention returning him to the USA to stand trial? I meant to say tie a pork chop in the shape of a cross around his neck and send him to Gitmo to play with the fellas down there.

One thing this guy has going for him, he'll tower over all those tiny Peruvians in jail. Of course, that won't help when they stick a shiv in him, but hey, that's life.

Tie a pork chop round his neck? What is that all about? That remark says far more about you than it does about Mr Sloot. What a sad person you are.
  8. I think some Argentinians may have some issues with Hezbollah's targeting, but be that as it may - if talking about Kao Sarn road - that's a pretty target-rich area (assuming you're looking for Israeli/Jewish ones).

As to their focus - while true that they concentrate a lot of effort vs, Israel, they are also very much invested in the ongoing power struggle within Lebanon. This isn't always done on a political level, as the late prime minister found out. Attacks against political rivals are pretty common, and sadly, targeting isn't much better at home, it seems.

Yeah, for sure Hezbollah's anti-Israeli campaigns relates to the struggle for power in Lebanon.

I'm not sure the accused actions in Argentina are relavent. That was when Israel still occupied southern Lebanon.

Iran funds Hezbollah. Iran is in revenge mode. Get the picture? I think you do but for some reason won't acknowledge it.

    Revenge for what?
