Congratulations Huayrat for embracing the fun that is songkran.

It obviously escaped your notice that he says "We don't have the pump guns and blocks of ice". Unlike you!

  2. At any other time of the year what would be your reaction be to being assaulted?

But it does not happen at any other time of year does it....it is this time of year...a few days and you all know about it well in advance and it is going to happen....nothing you can do about it and that is a good thing for those that enjoy the THAI holiday and festivities.

Songkran day in Pattaya is on the 19th, everybody gets soaked and has a crazy time. But for some people that is not enough, they are standing at the side of the road, outside bars etc, riding round in pick ups, from dawn till dusk from at least a week before Songkran firing their high powered water guns filled with iced water, at people trying to go about their daily business. And yes, the vast majority of these pillocks are farangs. I have a simple question for you Samsian, do you think people have the right to go about their daily lives, going to an airconditioned shopping mall, to a restaurant etc, without getting soaked to the skin by some moron with a water gun? Yes or no?

    What's a few million?.

Unfortunately you are not wrong. Thai politicians do not have exclusive rights on corruption. As an example, look at the news from the UK at the moment. The treasurer of the ruling party filmed offering access to the Prime Minister for 250,000 pounds. A lot of money. Of course he has been forced to resign, saying, ' i am sorry if i gave the impression of wrongdoing!' The impression? Laugh. Out. Loud. Of course the Prime Minister has denied all knowledge of it, and has ordered an internal enquiry by one of his mates! So thats all right then! I have no doubt that the inquiry will find that 250,000 quid is just for the pleasure of having dinner with the PM, no impropriety etc etc. So yes, they are all the same, taking the electorate as gullible fools. Which sadly an awful lot of them are!

For 250 grand I hope they do a decent meal - of course they only talk about the weather, football, where they plan to go on holiday this year and the such!!!jap.gif.

Of course, heaven forbid that anyone would think otherwise! Interesting that in the recent budget, bankers and the like on over 1 million pounds a year received a tax handout of 40,000 pounds. But i'm sure that is just a coincidence!smile.png On a more serious note, when a small minority of very wealthy people can buy influence in government policy which benefits them personally, it gives the lie to the claim that we live in a democracy.

  5. From my personal relationship with Gary Strydom he is a truly humble and honorable person!

Also from I am hesitant to share this because of all the Time sharky fan boys out there down playing this as a very minor scrape not worth the time time to involve the police. What I heard from my contacts down at Soi 9 was the matter was settled for only 80k and a large amount of that going to end any prosecution of the accused. The victim was quoted as saying "had I not raised my arm to block the knife it would have gone through my eye, it did cut my arm to the bone and then cut above my eye lash instead". The Canadian said what set the event off was I said "Don't you think you have enough tattoo's"?

Why on earth would he walk up to a stranger and say, ' Don't you think you have enough tattoos?" What sort of reaction did he think he would provoke? Lets hope he has learnt his lesson.Nobody likes a smart arse. Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt!
  6. Chops, has it ever occurred to you that you may be a prick of the first order? Jeez, are you serious? "As you know i am no light drinker"! " I drink pretty heavily". "I act pretty obnoxious when i'm drunk"! I have no doubt that you act pretty obnoxious when you are awake, sober or not! "Should i blame it on the alcohol or myself?" Nah, must be the alcohol, can't be you can it, you are obviously a well rounded sort of guy. Is it any wonder that Thai's have contempt for westerners when there are tossers like you over here. My advice to you is to go on the skytrain, clutching a bunch of balloons. Job done!

  7. Oh, please. Who hasn't had sex on a beach?

Exactly Jingthing. A very nice, refreshing cocktail, available at many bars and restaurants here!

h5kaf, are you an Aussie? A ladyfriend of mine once told me the Aussie idea of foreplay is, "You Awake Sheila?"smile.png

No I am a Pom. Been here a long time. But it is hard to judge how well one performs if the recipient of my 'love'/'lust' won't pay proper attention - at least wake up or put the comic, she is reading, down. I have come to the conclusion that it is me I am tying to please not her. I am sure that Aussies and others have the same problem. This is why an 'active surf princess' such as portrayed in this post is so attractive.

My sincere apologies for mistaking you for an Aussie! It is of course a well known and established fact that we Englishmen are superb lovers, sensitive and skillful. Unfortunately our efforts are not always appreciated. Indeed my own dear lady ex wife, whose name for the moment escapes me, had a quite unique interpretation of sexual stimulation. It consisted of, "Can you try not to wake me when you pull my nightie back down when you have finished!".
  8. Oh gosh. This simply can't be true. The Iranian government has pledged that they have no interest in producing ballistic missiles capable of delivering nuclear weapons. Must be another one of them there "false flags" that we have heard so much about. rolleyes.gif

Always two sides to a story. This from todays Guardian newspaper.

The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the nuclear watchdog at the heart of the growing Iranian crisis, has been accused by several former senior officials of pro-western bias, over-reliance on unverified intelligence and of sidelining sceptics. Robert Kelley, a former US weapons scientists who ran the IAEA action team on Iraq at the time of the US-led invasion, said there were worrying parallels between the west's mistakes over Iraq's supposed weapons of mass destruction then and the IAEA's assessment of Iran now.

  9. Well thank you Paul Jones, as soon as i read your OP i logged on to my bank account online to check everything was ok. I suspect i probably wasn't the only one. Doesn't do any harm to to be reminded of the potential scams out there. Thanks again. Glad your bank has done the decent thing and you will not lose out.

  10. In a first world country the passenger would be fairly tried for whatever he would be alleged having done. This could be property damage (trash bin), staff assault (verbal or physical).

In the same first world country the passenger would also sue with success the guard, security firm and train operator for the injury due to the inappropriate use of force in a potentially dangerous and life threatening manner.

Here in Thailand all parties at the end will agree with an arrangement to avoid face loss, but being a foreigner involved, this foreigner will probably be the looser as the problem would never have occured without him being in Thailand

Never forget: You have no rights here if you are not Thai. And Thais are deeply racist, but happilly get in our days abroad what they deserve.

And of course you are not deeply racist? Laugh. Out. Loud. This idiot was lucky to get away with a smack on the head. Many countries ban balloons on the subway, for obvious reasons, The gas attack on the subway in Tokyo being an obvious one. He was self evidently pissed, coming back from a party, showing off in front of his mate, Watching him pushing and shoving the female security guard, what on earth did he expect? In America or the UK he would probably have been shot! Remember the Brazilian lad who got three to the head whilst laying on the floor of a tube train under restraint, whilst going about his lawful business? This idiot can count himself lucky he is not in the mortuary. in Bangkok! A teacher? Jesus H Christ, what does he teach? Time for him to go back where he came from i think, before he drags the rest of us down in the gutter with him. I have to say i am surprised and somewhat disappointed to see Andrew Drummond running with this, especially the one sided stance he is taking. I really did think he was better than that.
  11. Presumably the Bangkok Policemen caught bang to rights with a large amount of yaba wil be executed quickly! And his son who murdered a policeman will receive the same fate! Nah, don't think so somehow. It is the same the world over, not exclusive to Thailand. It's not what you know, it's who you know. Of course, Chalerm is probably too stupid to appreciate this truism. Or maybe he is not! Every time this guy opens his mouth he digs a deeper hole. Isn't his son now a prominent member of the Government? One would think that the deputy Prime Minister would keep his head down in the light of all these facts, but no, he can't resist claiming the high moral ground, even though anyone with limited intelligence knows that he is on very dodgy ground. His mentor in Dubai must be very proud of him, keeping up the double standards we have come to know and expect from these criminals.

  12. I guess in this instance it's something to do with the fact that he has covered himself in tattoos also. It's rather like a girl in a low cut top complaining that people look at her cleavage.

You can't brand yourself as a brainless thug and then complain about being called a brainless thug.

Tattoos are a cultural thing. People love tattoos in Thailand. I've got a friend who's entire body is tattooed and he gets a lot of favourable attention from Thais who want to check them out closely. Tim also gets favourable attention for his tattoos. Tattoos do not scare Thai people.

In the Philippines you'd be in good company as they have a similar attitude to you being a predominantly Christian country where religious bigots abound.

Tim is from Maori heritage. They traditionally tattoo their bodies, but the British settlers considered them savages and slaughtered them.

Bigotry is a dangerous thing. I don't have a tattoo on my body but I certainly don't judge people who do.

Yes it is bigotry. I don't have any tattoos either, despite working away at sea for years, which put me in the minority. But my choice, each to their own. Many many years ago i was doing jury service in the UK. After retiring to the jurors room to consider the verdict,(it was a case of burglary if i remember rightly), an ever so posh lady with a very loud, opinionated voice pretty much insisted on being the jury foreman, which the rest of us went along with as she seemed so keen. The case against the accused was by no means cut and dried, but said posh lady informed us all that he was obviously guilty, "Just look at him, he has tattoos all over his arms"! After a short silence with the rest of us looking at each other, i very politely pointed out to her that the Prison Officer guarding him in the dock also had tattoos on his arms. She stared at me as if i had just farted! Never mind the evidence, she had obviously decided on his guilt purely on the way he looked, ie tattoos. And i'm sure there are many others out there with this kind of mindset. Bigotry indeed!

    What was the verdict?

The Verdict was guilty. I Know hindsight is easy, but i really wish now i had the presence of mind to call a halt, and send a message via the clerk of the court to the judge, informing him about it. Pretty sure she would have been dismissed, and we would have carried on with just eleven jurors, which i believe is allowed under certain circumstances. Plus the look on her face as the Judge gave her a dressing down would have been worth seeing i'm sure!

  14. And I thought I was the only one sitting in a bar not drinking alcohol................I have a GF now, but for many years I went to bars and just drank soft drinks. Most of the women in the bars don't like benig with a boorish drunken bum. They are more choosy and less desperate than most people think.

Smoking is also a major turn off for many Thai women.

For me a drunken woman is not a very attractive site and even less so with a fag in her gob. So why would it be any different for women to think the same about men?

These woman in the bars you're talking about are working there. It's not a dating service where you need to impress them. They're very impressed with open wallets - end of story.

HaHaHa, great summing up Tropo. But of course there is the possibility that his GF is different than all the rest!wink.png
