  1. Note to op....

All Rim Pings are not the same....You might want to invest some time exploring the ones around you....

Some have full butcher & bakery counters with good food assortment & services to match....

Others are like a mini Rim Ping+......

You might have to pick and choose through a few stores given your cooking, transport, and storage limitations....

Check out the CM FB expat groups as there's a few farang specialized food vendors....Almost everything can be delivered....

You might also want to consider a microwave, elec. oven, or other (electric) preparation options....

  2. Just a roll of the dice there....About 15 years ago I went with a sports team on a goodwill tour.....We played ball against local teams, meet up functions, school tours, & such....The Mexican sponsors had different venue sports groups come through on different weeks .... La Paz, Baja....

The next week after we left, another group came through & the their bus was raked with gun shots and 2 people died....

It doesn't have the desperation look and feel of the PI, but there is a very real danger there....

fbook: no hours for Xmas day feast listed. no usable map ,,, Pa Daet's a big area.

would the clientele likely by all English ?

Check the FB page for location...

As for the mix of patrons = unsure....Their daily specialty feature is great hamburgers, which isn't "English" to me...

However, on Sundays they do serve the traditional English stuff as well as their normal menu items....

After 10 extensions, that gets funnier year by year, many rainy years, worsening attitude on roads, more mai pen rai, more and more empty promises, I getting to my wit's end.

To sum up, short time won't give you the real and full picture as problems will present themselves over time.

    As they do anywhere....

  5. Just throwing this out there.....

I inquired to a vendor about the amount of their shipping fee.....

They responded that the shipping fees were set & collected by Lazada.....

It's reasonable to assume that this is a very lucrative revenue stream for Lazada, it's entirely possible they are now complying with some newly imposed legal requirements for taxation purposes .....

Given the international scope of their operation....

The buy/sell rate/profit on the shipping must amount to many millions of $$$$ on any given day....

To be fair , I never heard an ex pat say the weather was nice here. Maybe tourists think it is but if you live here you see it for what it is. Never used to be this bad. In the old days the cool season was actually cold even in Bangkok. Jacket needed at night time. In the villages hoar frost and icy puddles in the morning.

Nearest you can get to that these days is a frosty whore in Pattaya.

That being the case... Watch out for Snowballs....

  7. I experienced my first need for this yesterday....I went to my local bakery store to pick up some supplies....About 300B....Gave him a 1000B = no can do....I looked around outside - no place to break the bill....Bangkok bank Visa = no go.....

My daughter used her phone bank app to make the purchase....I could've too = didn't think of it.... I've never tried..

Even though I'm not supportive of the cashless concept, it's an option  I'll have to get adept at....

  8. I haven't touched a welder in years.... My knowledge is dated & prehistoric on the topic....

If the half shaft is hollow, there's a chance that an oversized bead/weld could hold on a lumbering, slow truck.....

If it's a solid piece, like a spindle, there's no way a weld would last - welding just the circumference... Not to mention the loss of any needed tempered strength built in during the forging/foundry & machining/milling process....

    My unknowledgeable 2¢ worth....

My ex FIL from my I'll fated & I'll advised teen marriage was a heavy mechanic for a large concrete construction company....Those trucks and the heavy construction equipment took some heavy stress & abuse....The things he & his buddies could improvise, weld, and repair on those cement encrusted trucks was truly impressive.....
