  1. I cancelled one time because the transfer would have been instant & made it fall into the wrong month.....I did it instantly after seeing what would have happened.....

The money took about 6 days to be credited back = instant out/6 days to cycle back....

I used to always transfer on the last day of a month knowing it would hit on the 1st....This transfer taught me not to....

Coincidentally the money I moved the next day to cover ended up routing through another bank & then going the Bangkok Bank which screwed up the international coding on that transfer/deposit....

  2. I'm affable & completely competent in my ability to engage in light conversation..... I can go full on cocktail party mode...I just prefer/choose not to.... Brevity is just fine for me....

That's on the farang side of things....

According to my wife I give too much of an answer/explanation when asked a question.... She's usually looking for a quick yes or no response......

wrong, you do not need an area to tell him the only correct way to check aircon, which you also doesn't seem to know...

Well - right & wrong....I had a shop in mind had he been in my area that could assist.....

I'm retired auto service industry - Lexus....

I would suspect a dye test had been performed + a vacuum pull down, as well as a sniffer test in the dash area..... It's typically going to be a small leak somewhere = it's locating it to make the repair....Every step is going to have to be repeated....

Hopefully, someone in his area has a decent shop in mind.....

  4. We enjoyed our time in Rung Arroon in Hang Dong....Nice homes, small to large in a large, clean Mubaan with many parks ....

Easy access to 108/Hang Dong Rd or the Canal Rd for shopping....Also the Hang Dong market is close enough to ride a bicycle to & about the best local Thai market around with a good diversity of shops....

It might be a good area to consider....Rents are a bargain....We had a big multilevel 3/3 house @ 13k month....

Stay away from farang based real estate offices - they will bang you up for 26-30k for what you can find 10-15k yourself....

I can find a contact phone # for you for a good Thai property manager for that area if you want to pm me.....If you stay within the Thai networks you'll be treated fairer.....

Thanks, what is your account type at Bangkok Bank? I'm looking at the "basic bank account" https://www.bangkokbank.com/en/Personal/Save-And-Invest/Save/Basic-Banking-Account

Not sure what is the best account option for me. I want no fees, and just a debit card. I don't care about saving accounts

My account IS a savings account - with a MC debit card..... I've found zero use for checks, and they may indeed be useless here....The BB app let's you pay virtually every person/vendor/invoice or bill by bank transfer, which is quick & easy.....

The MC debit card was about 400B to initially get the card - then a 100B fee per year....

  6. I have Bangkok Bank & SCB....

BB statements are clean = just the listed transactions with zip for additional fees....

SCB has fees out the wazoo.... There's always some bank processing fees listed....

Admittedly, I didn't "shop" accounts when I signed on....Meaning one might have given me a beneficial account, while the other might have signed me on to the most adventitious type of account for their own bank/purposes....

  7. "Although the labels say that they are all the same size the americans are slightly smaller.

Do Scotsmen have bigger <deleted> than the Yanks?"

No, she thoughtfully ordered you the Scottish sized briefs.....

  8. We use a oven that can take full size sheet baking trays (baking & pizza) + use it to make toast every day... For us, this offers the most usefulness.....It has convection & rotisserie too, but we never use those....We had a toaster & never really used it....The waffle maker sees more action.....

I make bread, and we bake, so it's handy for all the various pan sizes and cake tins.....

It might be a good option to consider....

  9. I like Polo by Ralph Lauren, but I don't use often or slather it heavily....Nothing worse than someone that reeks of cologne/after shave...

I brought a bottle over with me and went to use it = empty....

It seems my wife likes likes it because it makes her feel good thinking of me and used it all up...

She has Chanel fragrances - but appropriated mine....

So, at the moment - nada....

  10. I once sought & bought a young double yellow nape parrot,

they were rare, and supposed to be the 2nd best talking bird....I even drove from CA into Mexico where I bought it a big black, ornate cage.....

It talked, mimicked my sneeze & was fun for awhile....It also got possessive & jealous = started screeching (loud) if I left it alone....Was chattering when I was nearby.....

I was maybe 35 at the time....That parrot's life span was rated at 70+ years..... There was no way I was going to put up with that + cart it around for the rest of my life....

    I sold it (should've made a 2 for 1 package deal with ex-wife = same traits).....

You've now discovered why the bird was set loose....If you don't want another 20+ years of the same, either find a way to train it, or gift it, or set it loose....

Would the Queen's botanical gardens take it? I know there are some menageries at some of them.....

  11. It takes an adventurous spirit & a inquiring minds to travel - it broadens and enriches the soul....

Some never had the opportunity.... Others never had the curiosity....Still others, (like my late great Dad) feel they had enough travel courtesy of their military service....Many more travel inside their own country & feel they've done it all....Coming from the US it's easy to understand - you could take many years and still not see all of it....

Others are stymied by work, family, routine, the money chase, beer, pubs, habits, laziness, isolation....

Some are happy as internet moderators ???? - proving to themselves daily they haven't seen it all yet....????

It takes many folks to make this world....

We are among the privileged, lucky ones....

But, I believe it was Emerson that said "no man is my equal, in that I may learn from them".....

The OP has delivered the truism within that statement.....

I think it's time for me to break out my RWE collection & reread it - good for the soul.....
