  1. Whatever is your interest i have no problem and thank you for info.

I am not one of these board jealous and angry who complain about people advertising their business.

That's fine. It's not my business. I have no business in Thailand. I do have a self interest in seeing places that I like keep their doors open so I continue to buy their food. In the case of Pao, they don't need much help because they are already doing so many things right. Like I said in the OP, I wasn't sure I really wanted to share this one but I knew someone else would before long, so might as well be me. Maybe my ego was chipped a little bit when it wasn't me who "discovered" the Northern Chinese/Sechuan place on Soi Welcome Jomtien. BTW, that place could take lessons from Pao on doing things right, sorry to say.

Thanks for the info, I am looking forward to going already !

  2. Sorry, I shoud have been a iltte more clearer. I'm a simple bachelor and am not looking for unpackaged meat. I'm looking for packaged meat to make simple sandwiches, hotdogs, etc. I don't do any real cooking. But when I go to buy, say, a package of ham for sandwiches, there are many brands (as mentioned above) and many price variations. I would normaly grab the first package I see but the prices have started to make me wonder: "Which is the best meat for the baht?" I'm not poor so I'm not necessarily looking for the cheapest, but just the brand that has best taste/baht.

I wish I had someone who bought raw meat and prepared nice dinners for me at night!

    THX

Look around for out of date meat at supermarkets or even better check out their bins behind the store. I am sure there wil be some edible items thrown in them - You can also get half eaten items in the bins being restaurants - just cut off the bite marks and away you go - perfectly good food for free.

  3. 3M is a lot?? In relation to what?? The english teacher that is pulling in 15K-20K per month? Or a retiree from overseas that has a nest egg of a few mill dollars?? Who do you think 3M baht condos are marketed too?

I would think that these "retirees from overseas that has a nest egg of a few mill dollars" would be living their retirement life on the Mediterranean or in some other beautiful part of Europe or even Northern California? No?

no the Med sucks and can be cold a lot of the year

  4. I don't see it mentioned, and it's a serious inquiry. I can handle some of the chilis going down (on a farang scale, more than a tourist, but less than a real longtime expat or anyone that likes a good curry like my dad),but I have a problem with it coming out. It burns something awful. Because of the chemical composition and the nature of the mucous membranes in that region, the pain lingers a lot longer than in my mouth. What do you do to relieve yourself?

And I am sort of relieved to know that I'm not the only one to rub my eyes and suffer the consequences. The stuff still liners even after I wash my hands.

I hear you loud and clear! I can eat jalapenoes to a band playing - I really enjoy the heat & pain of eating chillies but its the morning after that is the killer - gawd!

It is better here though where you can use a bum gun!

  5. Great news for business travellers into Bangkok.

    http://www.emirates.com/th/English/plan_book/to_and_from_airport/chauffeur_drive/where_available.aspx

Bangkok (BKK) Within a 60km radius of Suvarnabhumi International Airport. Itineraries which are exclusively between Bangkok and Hong Kong are not eligible for Chauffeur-drive. Excess mileage charged at THB 35 per km for First Class and Business Class. Payment can be made in cash or by credit card.

  6. You have not given much info as to flight times but I assume you plan to spend it in town, I suggest you do not get a taxi into Town but use the airport shuttle as it is unaffected by traffic as I recall it was around 35 ringgit and took 25 minutes or so - look at a map and decide where you want to get off and then perhaps use a short taxi ride. I think you MUST see the Petronas Towers and nearby are some good bars I liked one Irish bar out the back side of the KLCC under the towers (forgot name) - google (beach club kl) last time I got a taxi to the Airport it was 70 Ringgit but will be more now - It's great fun there and worth the effort of getting out of the airport

    have fun

  7. Make sure you are on the A380 and try and get 68K.... best seat in the house..on your own but close enough to the on-board bar. Fast track is great but allow your self enough time to enjoy one of the best Emirates lounges!! A few glasses of champers, late night boarding and off to sleep on the flatbed. .....enjoy

Slightly misleading, 68 A,K as 81 A,K are the best seats in the house on Emirates A380 when you are travelling in economy. If you are in business upstairs on the A380 the seats beside the bar upstairs are numbered 26, much prefer further forward myself a lot quieter IMHO.

Definetely no Limo for departure in Thailand, fast track card no great benefit just now as the queues are quite short at present. Emirates lounge in Swampy is pretty good, plenty food and drink also showers available. Nice flat bed on board, make sure you get a mattress from the flight attendants, helps comfort.

    Regards

I stand corrected re the seat number... quite where I got 68 from I have no idea. It was 23K !!!!

    Have fun

I have just booked Business class from BKK to UK and back and was told 23K or 23 A were the best seats also on the 380 - my mate who told me almost lives on the bloody thing, he was first class a few months back and was winding me up about the shower - bastard lol

  8. I believe Air Asia are now charging you 100 baht if you do NOT check in online - any way to gouge you! Don't get me wrong they are good value but I hate the website trying to scrape money out of you on every page - just tell me the real <deleted> price at the start. I will pay it but do not need the BS of navigating your site.
