  1. Hi

Please can anyone tell me if I can substitute Atorvastatin 20mg for Bestatin. If this is possible would Bestatin 20mg be the equivalent dosage or would I need a lower or higher Mg dose to achieve the same results of the Atorvastatin 20mg.

Cannot see any comparison on the net between these two,so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes. It will happen. I just wish we could pay  monthly to be included in the Thai health system.

I wholeheartedly agree, but to prevent the system being abused, should be used for serious or emergency situations only. The government should also give considerations to citizens of countries that offer Thai citizens free healthcare, such as the Uk's Nhs system.

  3. Hi

Can someone tell me the earliest date I am permitted to apply for my yearly extension based on marriage.

My visa expires on Jan 2nd 2020.

I wish to go down to Pattaya for the xmas period around the 10th of next month.

I would prefer to get it done here in my usualPhitsanulok office, but will of course register my stay of over 24 hours in the local Jomtien office.

    Many thanks.

  4. Hi all.

After reading numerous posts on tv,I'm still none the wiser and feel confused. So any help is greatly appreciated, especially from Ubon Joe if you're reading this.

    The situation is as follows:-

My Thai wife wants to open a business as a sole trader selling cosmetic products. She hasn't the money to go down the company route. She wishes to start off small and build it up.She wants me to build her a website that I estimate will probably take me a year. She wants me to do it as A) she cannot afford to employ someone at present as she's just starting out and B) She wants it created in perfect English. So she wants me to create it and says she'll pay for my wp and my tax and social security and a wage once the business hopefully takes off.

My situation is I've been on extension of stay based on marriage for many years with 400k.

I do not wish to engage myself in anything illegal so I need to obtain a work permit.

Amongst the topics I've read here and elsewhere are these below, but 2&3 seem  contradictory.

So which of these  statements are true and which are not?

One further question is as I have the 400k in the bank and an extension based upon it am I still required to show minimum 40/50k monthly salary even though this wouldn't be the case?

    1)

To clarify, if you are married to a Thai and have an extension-of-stay based on marriage (or Non-O Multiple), you can obtain a work-permit from the Labor Dept to work for your wife's business (Example if she owns the business 100% as a sole-trader), even if:

It is not a registered company meeting capital requirements,

It does not have 2* Thai employees on the books (* 4 Thai employees required at some labor-dept offices),

You do not earn a specified threshold-income.
    2)

When employing relations it seems impossible to get social insurance (prakan sangkhom) for relations (especially same family name and /or tabien bahn).

In the govt literature it does say it is possible with some evidence such as clock in - clock out/pay slips etc

However the workers that man the offices are adamant its a no can do for relations/next of kin etc.

    3)

If you have a work permit and are working then contributions are compulsory, no matter what your nationality.

  5. Hi
Just had a call from a friend of mine in the UK.
He has been married to a Thai lady for 5 years. He wants to come here and set up a company, importing goods from China to sell online to Thailand. He says he understands that he needs 2-4 Thai shareholders/staff on the books and that his wife can possibly act as one of them.He will obtain an non-immigrant (o) visa, and extend with 400k + in the bank that has been seasoned for years.
What he's concerned about is that he has been told that he as the owner of the company is not entitled to pay into the Thai social security.First of all is this correct and secondly, what would his options be?I honestly don't understand this, because I have a friend in Pattaya, who owns a company with a wp that claims to have been paying into the system for over 2 years simply by registering. From what I can gather, my friend appears to be concerned about medical expenses, should he become sick.He obviously has no concerns in this regard about his wife,as she's Thai.
My friend has just turned 50 if that has any bearing on the matter.I as always have scoured the net but am unable to find any info for his particular query,so any information would be appreciated,I can then mail him the link to this topic.

Thank you. Guess at 72 with Diabetes on insulin and mixed connective tissue disease, and no home the nail has just been put thru my heart and ended my life. At least here had good monthly income, excellent medical care coverage through Tricare, and a internal medicine specialist for last 15 years. I feel really bad for all the others in the same boat. Never experienced a visa run, just a failed marriage to first wife of 20 years. God bless everyone.

I feel extremely sorry for you Dan,but as you rightly state, there are many like you in the same boat.I totally understand the Thai immigration trying their utmost to weed out the undesirables/overstayers/working without permit etc,but I don't understand them not accepting proof via a bank book of regular funds being deposited from abroad by the US government. It appears you have been let down by the actions of your own embassy.

Dan keep your chin up mate,I'm sure common sense will prevail, I'm also pretty sure the Thai government does not wish to lose potentially millions of baht being put into their economy by foreign residents for something that is plainly the policy of the embassy and not the fault of the applicant.

I really hope the situation resolves itself, but in the meantime I wish you all the very best.

  7. I have a weather app that states actual temperature and how hot it feels.Since approx 22nd September till now it has constantly shown between 32-34 but feels like 42.In 15 years living in Phitsanulok ive never known it so hot and that includes March,April and May,and coupled with the high humidity it's felt at times blisteringly hot.

You know it's gotta be hot if the Thai's are complaining non stop.

  8. Is it just their "Mai pen rai" attitude,or is it just a laziness on the part of the Thai's not to want to educate themselves in the affairs of the world?

As westerners we need to know whats occuring,as our personal invesments i.e shares, bonds, commodities etc all depend on world affairs.

There is no way which is right or wrong, the way that suits the individual is best, providing the said individual's way is not imposing something detrimental onto others.

I very much like the Thai's "What will be,will be attitude"coz "What's the use of worrying,it never was worthwhile" after all everything's "Que sera sera".

  9. A Thai guy I know in a band thinks this instrument maybe a good addition for his band.So I watch the video he shows me and managed to take a screenshot of it.Nice sound,it appears to be like a giant kazoo as you blow into it by humming and a microphone then projects, the sound through the speakers, via an amp.

Spent all day yesterday trying to locate it on the net, but to no avail.

Can anybody help to tell me the name of it,if so approximate cost and where to buy.Come on you TV musicians.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Apologies for photo quality.

  10. Hi all.

Firstly just a brief background to my circumstances.

Married to a Thai, with extension of stay from a non imm(o) based on marriage, and currently in possession of a re-entry permit expiring 02/01/18.I also have a yellow tabian bahn book.

I work 6 months a year in Uk and 6 months at leisure in Thailand.Have been doing this for many years now.

I'm planning on being back in Thailand Nov/Dec this year, but in any case before extension of stay expires.Next time I wish to stay permanently.

I have always enjoyed working and although I have no pension to rely on,I have assets and am not short of money.

However, not working in Thailand just lazing apart from small excercise, has left me feeling increasingly bored.

It is my intention whilst in Uk to do a tefl course, and start teaching English in Phitsanulok where I reside.I have no intention of working for a School with set hours, but would like to teach freelance with hours to suit.I have several friends in Pattaya who have done this for many years without a work permit, and who are encouraging me to do the same.I am against this as I have always been a straight guy who wants no aggravation from authorities of any kind, but especially from Thai authorities,so wish to play it straight down the line.

Please could anyone advise on how to obtain a work permit to teach freelance. Is there a minimum income I would need, how much would I need to make before paying tax/national insurance etc,is it possible to obtain the permit on a non imm(o) or need to be converted to a (B).If paying tax/NI am i entitled to health care or social security card?

I would be extremely grateful for any advice.

    Many thanks.

  11. So if the

people vote in June to leave Europe where will that leave all these cases quoting the European Laws?

The European Convention of Human Rights and it's court have nothing to do with the European Union. They were established by the Council of Europe, of which the UK is a founder member, in 1950.The Council of Europe currently has 47 members, including all 28 members of the EU.The UK was a member of the ECtHR long before we joined what was then the EEC and will still be if we leave the EU.So even if the UK does leave the EU, that will have no effect on this case nor any other human rights cases or legislation in the UK.

Not 100% correct. It may well have an effect read this article.

    http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/jun/02/david-cameron-prepared-to-break-with-europe-on-human-rights

On another note, why does it take up to 6 months to reach a decision?

  12. Note that submitting a false affidavit to the USA embassy or consul is a Federal crime punishable by 5 years imprisonment. USA Fed judges take a very harsh view of perjury.

Can only agree with the above post.I'm from the Uk,maybe it's more strict at the Uk embassy, but this looks all the way open to be scammed....Until you get caught that is.Just imagine feeling the full force of both Thai&Usa authorities bearing down on you.Not for me thanks.By playing it straight in all aspects of Thai requirements for almost 30 years,I've managed to get a good nights sleep every night...Nice feeling.
