I saw a holiday maker last week smoking one I approached him and told him that if he were to be caught he could face imprisonment he thought I was joking until I explained to him that It was regarded as a drug . As there are so many people from around the world smoking these maybe it’s time that it should be advertised both by the airport authorities and travel agents as a lot of people seem to be unaware of the law. Thailand must be one of a very few countries to ban this product I wonder why ?

So do they regard tobacco not as drug?

It's been stated again&again that ecigs are far less harmful than smoking and can aid giving up altogether.Infact in the UK it was suggested they may soon be available on the nhs with a prescription.

A smoker only wants one thing from a smoke and thats old Nick O'teen.Ecigs give you that without all the carcinogenics. It's all about the government not being able to tax ecigs in the same way as cigarettes.Do the government ever stop to think, the money it's costing them treating smokers in hospitals up and down the country for smoking related diseases?

  2. A Thai guy I know in a band thinks this instrument maybe a good addition for his band.So I watch the video he shows me and managed to take a screenshot of it.Nice sound,it appears to be like a giant kazoo as you blow into it by humming and a microphone then projects, the sound through the speakers, via an amp.

Spent all day yesterday trying to locate it on the net, but to no avail.

Can anybody help to tell me the name of it,if so approximate cost and where to buy.Come on you TV musicians.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Apologies for photo quality.

  3. Ekachai Chainuvati, a legal expert and political critic, said yesterday he could not conclude that the junta was not serious in pursuing Yingluck. He explained that it was rather because the Thai government had no extradition treaty in place with the UK to have the fugitive former PM sent home.

No extradition treaty in place with the Uk?

I've just googled it, here's the answer.

Currently, the following countries have extradition treaties with Thailand

theUS, the UK, Canada, China, Belgium, Philippines, Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, South Korea, Bangladesh, Fiji, and Australia.

    Some legal expert he is.

  4. Hi all.

Firstly just a brief background to my circumstances.

Married to a Thai, with extension of stay from a non imm(o) based on marriage, and currently in possession of a re-entry permit expiring 02/01/18.I also have a yellow tabian bahn book.

I work 6 months a year in Uk and 6 months at leisure in Thailand.Have been doing this for many years now.

I'm planning on being back in Thailand Nov/Dec this year, but in any case before extension of stay expires.Next time I wish to stay permanently.

I have always enjoyed working and although I have no pension to rely on,I have assets and am not short of money.

However, not working in Thailand just lazing apart from small excercise, has left me feeling increasingly bored.

It is my intention whilst in Uk to do a tefl course, and start teaching English in Phitsanulok where I reside.I have no intention of working for a School with set hours, but would like to teach freelance with hours to suit.I have several friends in Pattaya who have done this for many years without a work permit, and who are encouraging me to do the same.I am against this as I have always been a straight guy who wants no aggravation from authorities of any kind, but especially from Thai authorities,so wish to play it straight down the line.

Please could anyone advise on how to obtain a work permit to teach freelance. Is there a minimum income I would need, how much would I need to make before paying tax/national insurance etc,is it possible to obtain the permit on a non imm(o) or need to be converted to a (B).If paying tax/NI am i entitled to health care or social security card?

I would be extremely grateful for any advice.

    Many thanks.

  5. I can see this becoming more prevalent as a way to circumvent the visa rules especially from other countries citizens poorer than Thailand.Having said that, they will still need to show 400k in the bank in order not to do the monotonous visa run every 90 days.

I just hope this doesn't lead to an investigation into the genuine ones(like myself) who play by the book.Could do without all that aggravation.

I find the good guys in bad guys out policy fair enough.

  6. I fully understand the charge, but 15+ years and a 1.5 million baht fine, for what amounts to a quarter of a gram of class 2, just seems so disproportionate. We have 2 Burmese on trial for their lives, not for murder but for a fit up.These justices or injustices, are more than enough to scare the average western tourist off, from wanting to visit. Not exactly the sort of headlines to promote tourism.
