  1. The senators who voted for Settha to be PM came from Prayuth's group, the coup makers. So having seized power from Pheu Thai, they've passed it back. Only, there are conditions, many. And they have a hostage to make sure Pheu Thai meekly obey their orders. Move Forward, the sole hope for Thailand
  2. t49 hang on. At a guess I reckon you're 73 or 74, born in 1949? Outlive your contemporaries in the Thai elite by a few years and you may yet die happy
  3. There are levels of lies from the white lie to avoid hurt feelings, to the brazen in your face lie, I know that you know that I'm lying but I don't give a flying fluck.. Thaksin's 'honest mistake' remark definitely falls into the last category imo, and to use it in court under oath suggests to me a man devoid of a moral compass .
  4. Doing a Tippers today, on a run/ spree.
  5. The whole charade reeks of bad acting. Give it a day or two and hashtags on Twitter making fun of this pantomime will appear.
  6. Oh come on Red, the man is full of manure. From the time when he brazenly told a court in 2001 that the millions of baht hidden in his servants' names was 'an honest mistake', to this urgent need to get out of jail and direct the new government's cabinet, he has told porkies.
  7. Now he's out the jail and has use of his mobile phone again, I'm sure his oxygen levels will return to normal.
  8. They never expected to do so well, I believe they thought PT would beat them. Never mind, now they know what they're up against - everyone. And they must prepare for possible dissolution and lengthy bans for all MPs if the establishment really go for the jugular regarding undermining the monarchy. The church is broad and no doubt will welcome disillusioned red shirts and others. I believe the young will stay with them, the government can't disenfranchise half the population.
  9. I reckon he's suffering from L.ID. It's well known to cause insomnia, palpitations and feelings of inadequacy. (luxury item deprivation)
  10. The red shirts did but they got shot, all 99 of them. Then Thaksin spat on them by getting into bed with the military backed parties.
  11. Just days ago he was living it up with Hun Sen, the dictator of Cambodia..
  12. Gentlemen, this thread is about Thai politics, nothing to do with Western political leaders. There's a whole foreign news forum for that
  13. I disagree but I wish I didn't. The red shirt leaders/ activists were always aware of the criticism that they were just paid employees or followers of Thaksin who decided everything significant in PT. They justified their allegiance by saying the heart of the red shirt movement was democracy, advancing the public's interests, and, so long as Thaksin demonstrated democratic credentials, they would remain with him. Now that Thaksin has sided with the coup supporters, they really have no choice but to resign. Hopefully their red will gradually take on an orange tinge. But for the rank and file red shirts, those living on the breadline, politics may take a back seat to bread and butter issues. For them, handouts and a rise in living standards may be all that matters. I hope I'm wrong
  14. It seems Pheu Thai seriously underestimated Move Forward as it appears the original cunning plan was to say, ' Look I've got a landslide victory. They, the people want me back, I want to come back, how about letting me come back and I'll make sure the peasants, I mean the people, don't get any funny ideas about reforming Thailand.' But the massive spoke in the works called MF, meant the uncles had to be included in the government too because Toni so much wants to come home. Now the plan looks more desperate than cunning because some of Toni"s fans are turning away and heading to the MF gigs. 'Never mind,' says Toni, ' We'll introduce our old tricks, populist policies, that'll keep the peasants happy.' Perhaps true but Toni's been away a long time, social media is ubiquitous all over Thailand, spilling into main TV stations daily And in Toni's soon to be formed government, there are several politicians and parties with deserved unsavoury reputations. It ain't gonna be easy Toni, but it sure as hell beats being a martyr! lol
