  1. If all of M F vote for Settha, the senators' votes are superfluous. But why should MF vote for a party that deserted them rather than standing by their side and going into Opposition? To hellll with PT, let them crawl to the senators for votes
  2. From the poster who excitedly proclaimed Thaksin was coming back on his birthday. What happened there, Jim? And on the 10th, announced by his daughter. Tomorrow! That doc appointment didn't stop him and sis going to see the dictator Hun Sen. I bet they felt right at home there Wissanu said in Thai ขอว่าอย่า which translates as "Please don't '' or "I'm asking you to not....'' He wasn't begging Thaksin, rather, I think, he was playing down Thaksin's significance. ' Hey, come whenever you like, everything's ready, just don't come on public holidays, it'll be a hassle.'
  3. Too many posters miss what Wissanu is really saying.
  4. My reading is Wissanu is telling Thaksin he's going to jail if he comes back. I read that Thai law stipulates a prisoner has to serve a third of their sentence before they can be considered for a pardon. Of course this may be overturned by those with the power to do so
  5. Indeed. Owl. My sister is 18 months younger which doesn't mean a thing now, but as a child it could be quite a gap. I remember playing Monopoly with her one rainy afternoon, I ended up owning hotels on every property from Old Kent Road to Mayfair and Park Lane. The poor thing, throwing the dice just to constantly get further into debt! Actually we could invent a Thai version of Monopoly with loan sharks, 'len share' and dodgy online investments!
  6. 'Still raining, still dreaming, ' J Hendrix. I was born in Southampton so I must support The Saints. Lucky I'm not a fervent supporter! We lived near Romsey in a thatched bungalow. It had wonderful, thick white walls. I remember lying in the top bunk, my sister below, watching the next door farmer ploughing his field as sunset drew near. Happy days, and then we moved to Nigeria. Now that was really something, the freedom of the warm and inviting tropics.
  7. The owner of PT wants to come home and his minions want power. Hope the senators don't trust Settha and MF tell them to go to hellll
  8. Bhumjaithai made the exclusion of MF one of their conditions to join PT. I doubt many MF will vote for PT's candidate. Bhumjaithai could have voted for Pita to keep the military out
  9. They need the senators' votes to obtain the PM's position. I can't see that happening without Pravit and his crew in the government
  10. MF are facing possible execution, dissolution if the CC decides so regarding their push for reform of 112 But they remain resolute, their ideals intact, unlike the sorry bunch of kite flyers who will ditch their pre election pledges for a seat at the table.
  11. The north-east faction of The Democrats?!!! Doesn't the author of this piece mean the southern faction consisting of 19 of the 25 Democrat MPs left
  12. Chuvit may have taken a leaf out of Thaksin's book of lies, misspokes, call it what you will. Only instead of saying I'll be back in... , Chuvit is saying I'll be going in ....
  13. Serves you right PT, now you're having to crawl to the senators to try and get Settha over the line. The price? High for sure, maybe impossible. At least including Pravit etc in the government. And if Settha fails, the baton passes to Bhumjaithai and PT will be the junior party in a government full of pro junta parties. All to please your owner who only cares about himself
  14. Here's an extract from a TDRI report. Somchai Jitsuchon, research director for macroeconomic development at the Thailand Development Research Institute, meanwhile, expressed concerns about how the money was being spent and what impact it was really having despite the so-called promise of a low-interest loans for poor people. Instead, he said, the government was in a better position to explain why so many funds were needed and what tangible benefits they had. He also questioned whether those seeking SML loans truly represented the local community as he cited research that less than half of the villagers seeking loans had truly benefited over the past decade. Somchai also questioned the 5-per-cent NPL figure, asking how non-performing loans were calculated. For instance, he said, some villagers borrowed from loan sharks to pay what they owe the village fund – a move that would keep the number of NPLs artificially low and allow them to become eligible for a government loan the following year. “The real NPL figure is most probably between 30 and 40 per cent,” Somchai said, as he called on people to monitor various government funds and find out how they are being used and repaid.
  15. Hang on, after May the senators remain in power until May but from then on they lose the power to vote for the PM. Whoever comes to be PM, there should be enough votes from MF, PT and other coalition parties or outside, to push for a new constitution written by elected officials Of course the elite may dissolve MF first but that's another story
  16. Thaksin hobnobbing with dictators, is that what the doctor ordered? 'Mr Thaksin, your blood pressure is too high worrying about your accomodation on your return to Thailand. I recommend you find a strongman to relax with, someone who has no problems about democracy. Mr Putin? No, you won't be happy eating dinners 10 metres away from each other, too much shouting. Someone closer to home, a man of your own heart.' Pass the sick bag (again), Alice.
  17. Exactly, and his vision of turning sor bor kor land documents that legally have to be passed down through family lines, into chanote, full land deeds. What would happen? The poor would sell their land to speculators, for sure.
  18. Worth a read. Would the authorities really dissolve MF with more serious legal ramifications than that of FF's dissolution? And would the manure really hit the fan then ?
  19. Okay Owl, that's enough rain. Is it 6 or 7 continuous days now? Are your ponds full now? I know the Thais have an ancient rite to ask the gods for rain in a drought, namely put a cat in a cage, parade it round the village as people throw water at it. But what to do when asking the gods to stop the rain? Apparently one has to find a virgin who must plant lemon grass at all 4 corners of one's house. Now assuming a virgin means a chaste woman over 18 years old, I have to say there are none in my village. The opposite in fact, there were rumours a 13 year old was up the spout last month. Not surprising with the kids driving motorbikes from 10 years onwards. Anyway Owl, if you know any virgins with some spare time, give me a shout
  20. Fairport rocking with Sandy's unique voice the icing on the cake
  21. Thaksin has just announced he won't be back on the 10th but he'll definitely be back before the 24th. 100%, definitely, absolutely no doubt, as sure as the sun rises, promise, honestly, trust me, no, really, not joking this time, deadly serious, look you know me, I would never lie to you, cross my heart. Apologies, just had a spot of delirium as Chuwit did... Okay now The reason he's delayed coming back is, to quote Thaksin, he has to see the doctor for a check up first. Perhaps he means he's going for a lie detector test
  22. Sweet, sweet guitar playing from Garcia.
  23. Yes, he was cunning, for example the 1 million baht fund per village from state coffers. Thaksin wins votes from this grassroots policy .Who distributes this fund? A village committee, ( village head, friends and family).Funds were limited, I e. 10,000 baht a head. That's not enough to start a business but hey! It's perfect for buying one of those new phones owned by AIS, at that time owned by Thaksin. Thaksin makes money! Drinks all round! .
  24. Very funny, your last word applies so much to Thaksin.
