  1. Thanks for that. I know that Dell are supposed to be OK with Linux so something like an XPS15 is a possibility that I'll look at. Lenovo, at one time, used to be good for Linux but, allegedly, their IdeaPads now all come with Windows pre-installed and it is, allegedly, not possible to turn off secure boot so installing Linux may be impossible without flashing the BIOS/UEFI - if there is an updated BIOS available. Lenovo ThinkPads are probably mostly OK - certainly with Ubuntu so probably also with Mint but there doesn't seem to be any guarantee of full compatibility. There is a warning on the Lenovo website that pre-installed versions of Ubuntu may not work perfectly, or at all. Sounds worrying! The Lenovo site has a chat facility and I've used that - but still no definitive answer. I'll take a look at the links that you provided. Thanks again.
  2. It's time to replace my aging Lenovo IdeaPad laptop - been good for 10 years but is failing now. i like the idea of a Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen5 but I'm having a problem finding out if this is compatible with Mint 22, 'Wilma". Mint 22 is based on Ubuntu 24.04. I've checked the Ubuntu compatibility list but the result was a bit vague, indicating that only OEM pre-installed 24.04 may work properly. So, anyone out there using this OS with a T14? Alternatively, any recommendations for a compatible laptop? Thanks.
  3. I have the same problem using Brave on Linux Mint on my PC. Just a bit annoying having to reset every time. Cookies are white-listed so that is not the cause of the problem.
  4. I just completed this quiz. My Score 60/100 My Time 74 seconds
  5. Or, even better, i overate! Now feeling full.
  6. Use your 'imagination' if you have farctated.
  7. Don't give him ideas!!
  8. Precisely. Islamophobia is the irrational fear of Islam. I don't see anything irrational in being deeply concerned about the Islamic takeover of what is, fundamentally, a Christian nation.
  9. I've tolerated this for far too long. There is a limit you know.
  10. OK, having got really p*ssed off with the ever more annoying 'subscribe to newsletter' pop-up, I capitulated and signed up for the thing. Guess what - I'm still getting the pop-up! This is getting really annoying now to the point where i"m about to give up on this forum. Please fix this.
  11. Need to be 15 to legally ride a motorcycle of up to 100cc capacity. You would need to be 18 to legally ride a PCX. Prosecute the parents!
  12. Yes, I've had items stuck in the Langley, Heathrow Customs office for up to two weeks on numerous occasions. Absolutely disgraceful level of service.
  13. I don't think that's the problem - ASEANNOW cookies are not deleted. I do use 'Cookie AutoDelete' but domains ASEANNOW and *ASEANNOW are whitelisted so all cookies are retained, even on browser closure.
  14. I keep getting the 'subscribe to our newsletter' pop-up appearing far too often. I don't want to subscribe so why can't I opt out of this permanently? It's annoying as I have to cancel it every time and then refresh the page that i was trying to access.
  15. I'm not defending the situation in my particular cr*phole, as you put it. Things are just as bad there.
  16. Yes, sad isn't it! A nation of 350+ million people and the best that they can do is a choice between a convicted felon and a geriatric. No hope for America I'm afraid!
  17. 'Jack' has naval connotations. https://greatbritishmag.co.uk/uk-culture/why-is-the-united-kingdom-flag-called-the-union-jack/
  18. The last time that I tried a postal vote was for Brexit. The papers arrived ONE DAY before the time limit for the return. No chance, even using EMS or a courier service. Complete waste of time.
  19. Yes. This morning I got the usual reminder to submit a new notification so, as usual, I responded to the request. I normally use Firefox for this purpose. Today, I went through the usual procedure but when I got to the 'submit' stage nothing happened. I tried a few times, with the same result. So, I then tried using Brave and this worked OK. Current status is 'Pending'. My reporting office is Chonburi, if this is relevant.
  20. OK, thanks. I'll try that.
  21. I'm looking to upgrade my NT fibre connection. Currently on 200/200 but a faster connection is available for the same price, or even less, so why not change? It looks as though the upgrade request can be done on line but one thing is stopping me from proceeding with it. The request form is simple enough, except that it requires attachment of the 'modem/ONU' file. I have no idea what this is or where I can find it. The only paperwork that I have that is specific to the ZTX601 modem is the paper user guide. No mention of the ONU file in there. Any ideas before I phone 1888 next week?
  22. What we really need is a WTF emoji!
  23. Cookies are enabled. i am using Brave though and this does block some things. Not a big issue anyway as the pop-up is easily dismissed - just a bit annoying. There should really be a 'no thank you' option, which the system then remembers.
