I doubt it. Probably talking about silicone. Of course it could be that he's in love with his smart phone - seems to be happening a lot.

What, me worry?

I'm sure the ocean creatures are quite happy about how quickly we're reacting to their plight as a result of our careless use of non-biodegradable plactic.
If we kill the oceans, it's going to be a lot worse impact on the planet than the alleged climate change predictions.

Level of reporting is abysmal. The idiot who lost control crashed into the work van obviously!! Not the other way around.
I've got a lot of hair in my room if you want to split any more...

You complain about the noise and dogs, but nothing about the air pollution, which cannot be easily seen but is pervasive and much more dangerous to one's health. I wear a PM2.5, double layered, exhaust valved mask when out at all times except when eating. For the noise, I also wear an industrial-grade, jet engine, shooting range type noise suppressor. The noise suppressor work fairly well with loud Thai people as well the modified-exhaust motorbikes in motorbike-infested Thailand. Yes, that's right the same motorbikes that are killing 75% of the Thais in the road carnage (but don't get me seriously going about motorbikes).

I'm a bit fatalistic about this. Mosquitoes around here bite my legs the moment I go downstairs to get my breakfast. They are around all day. They have a further go at my legs in the evening. They bite through clothing. The only thing that might help is to smother myself from morning to night with repellent. Even then they'll probably find a way. I just get on with my life and hope that I'll be OK. I use repellent in the evening if I'm outside but that's about it.
Buy or contrive a mosquito net over suit as well as the repellent. I wouldn't rely on hope. Are you using a mosquito net on your bed?
-
I minimize my exposure by wearing long pants and long sleeve shirts when outside. One doesn't see tourists dressed like this which makes me wonder what percentage of the dengue fever cases were Westerners who are under the impression that Thailand is some kind of mosquito-free tropical paradise.

Since when did motorcyclists have priority on the sidewalk / pavement?
Riding a motorcycle on the pavement / sidewalk is illegal.
I've lived here for over 20 years and it still surprises me when I step out of a 7-11 and a motorcycle rides on by. Always look both ways and up and down... the dangers come from every angle, but that does not mean that Pedestrians on the sidewalk / pavement have to yield for Motorcycles - it does mean that the Police have to do a better job of catching and fining these motorcyclists with penalties which are stiff enough to act as a firm deterrent.
Children, the aged and everyone else should not have to worry about vehicles of any nature on the sidewalk (that goes for bicycles too).
Glad you mentioned bicycles on the sidewalks. There is little difference between bicycles and motorbikes except motorbikes are much heavier, not as maneuverable and capable of higher speeds and potentially greater injury to pedestrians. The material difference between the two is that the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has supported pedestrian and bicycle sharing of sidewalks all over Bangkok. This sharing philosophy has been pirated by the motorbike operators.
Sharing of sidewalks between pedestrians and cyclists should not be problematic if pedestrians would get off their smart phones (and other distractions) while walking and assume some situational awareness and cyclists would do the same and keep it sane w/r to their speed and avoidance of pedestrians even if it means walking their bicycles or exiting the sidewalks for the road.
I'm not condoning the motorbike operator's transiting at seed on the sidewalk, but situational awareness and due caution might have saved the victim in this case from a trip to the hospital or worse. On the other hand he could have been just as easily hit by a bicycle instead of a motorbike.
-
I actually forced a female motorbike operator to use Sukhumvit Road rather than the sidewalk near Soi 8. She backed her motorbike to Soi 8 and merged with Sukhumvit traffic ... grudgingly. I wouldn't even attempt this with a male motorbike operator.
Did I mention that I was cycling on the sidewalk at the time and blocked her motorbike with my bicycle? ????
If the public condones lawlessness then it should be obvious that they are part of the problem.

last week, I was walking from Ekkamai to Phrom Phong. Now, between Thong Lo and From Phong, they use now Scooters on the sidewalk. They are parked everywhere and apparently free to use.
Can't those people even walk a few meters?
Good question! In this motor-vehicle-centric and motorbike-infested country, who knows?

Make no mistake, in Thailand sidewalks are motorcycle lanes, NOT for pedestrians.
This is not true. Pedestrians still dominate the sidewalks. There are, however, legitimate reasons for motorbikes to share the sidewalks with pedestrians given the state of the infrastructure in Thailand, but NOT WHILE transiting at high speed for long distances, which, in my experience (lower Sukhumvit) is the rare exception and not the rule.

I would guess home schooling is out of the question.

Fake news is easy. Start teaching them about propaganda and individualism. But don't do that in Thailand.
