About Me

US Navy submarine qualified on WWII Fleet Class submarine (diesel) and two classes of Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM, Polaris missile) nuclear submarines. Seven submerged, at sea deterrent FBM war patrols.

 

Thirty years hands-on experience as a multi-language UNIX/Linux OS applications developer both database and database server administrator. Applications developer with languages ranging from assembler to fourth generation involving from real-time data acquisition to business-related applications. IT experience includes nine years employment by the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BARTD) with both central computer operations and maintenance responsibilities and other real-time systems. The Bangkok BTS/Sky Train/MRT systems are very similar to the BARTD system which went into service in 1972 and, fortunately, is much more bicycle-friendly than they. ????

 

Certifications/Training/Degrees: US Navy Electronic Technician, FBM Digital Navigation Center maintenance and operations, Westinghouse Process Control (Sigma 2) computer system operations and maintenance, Certified as an IBM Informix RDBMS Database System Administrator. Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Computer Science minor.

 

Resident of Bangkok from 2009 to present.
