3 foreign men attack Phuket tuk tuk driver over parking dispute
KhunHeineken replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Well done, lads. Strangely, it doesn't happen in Pattaya, where baht buses / tuktuks drive around, and it's 10 baht hop on - hop off. In Phuket, they park up all day, waiting for their turn to rip of one foreigner for more than a day's average salary, and just for a short journey. Tuktuk drivers have ruined the Phuket holiday experience for many tourists. -

The next "monkey wrench"?
KhunHeineken replied to swissie's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Your health could deteriorate, or you have an accident. I can't think of a bigger '"monkey wrench" than that. Health is wealth. -
Ignorance of the law is no excuse, and we are only guests in Thailand. We don't have permanent residency, or citizenship, so it is our responsibility to keep informed, and abide by the laws here, or, face deportation. Bottom line is, pay your taxes, in the same why you abide by immigration laws, or roll the dice with the TRD.

Chinese Embassy Condemns Thai Human Rights Commissioner's Remarks

Yes, so a western strategy of backing an anti PRC uprising is not a possibility. That means, the west will have to go to war with China. -
Chinese Embassy Condemns Thai Human Rights Commissioner's Remarks

Been working quite well for them in recent years. Belt and road. We'll build you a road, but then whip you with the belt. Yes, in debt to them, and dependent on them. Huge army, and can retool factories and manufacture arms at a scale never seen before in the history of the world, all with the energy of their friends in Russia, while Americans have empty shelves in all their stores, across the whole USA. The day will come when America will need to go to war with China in order to wipe their debt out, but as we saw in the Vietnam War and the protests in America, due to empty shelves, there will be American people protesting, and quite possibly, lawlessness and anarchy. Western countries should never have become reliant on China for so much manufacturing, but western countries are capitalist, so companies move their manufacturing to China for higher profits, and it's slowly become a matter of national security. Eg. Huawei not getting contracts on the basis of national security. -
krungsri 1.5% only gain account?
KhunHeineken replied to proton's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I accept this, but I also have multiple payment channels set up, not just Wise. The chance of all of them being down, and for the Thai banks I am with, is slim. Then, there's also the very shiny, big credit limit card, from my home country, that I can use. It's limit is more than 800k baht. I pay it off, interest free, within 55 days, via internet banking, after recovery. Job done. There really is no financial benefit for me to move 800k to Thailand, just so I can have the fun of waiting in a queue and dealing with immigration. If it was beneficial for me to move the 800k to Thailand, on a risk assessment level, and a logistical level, it would already be here, but the numbers just don't add up, while the risk and losses do. -

What Thai banks are paying those interest rates? Sound like you have gone "all in" by moving a significant amount of money to Thailand, hence your 80,000k baht exchange losses. The Australian dollar isn't going so well at the moment, but there's nothing I can do about that. Still, the earning on my 800k is around 6%, so pays for the agent, and subsidizes the exchange loss. Betting on the baht - risky. -

As I have said before, my decision is based on risk, rather than reward, or affordability. I could move 800k here tomorrow, but why would I? Thailand is an unstable, 3rd World Country, and the Thai banks are paying nothing. It makes no economic sense for me to move the 800k here. I've posted the figures in different posts, but basically, 800k baht at 5% interest is a return of 40k baht per annum. The agent charges no where near that, and I don't have to wait in a queue, or be told I need one more photo copy and to come back blah blah blah. The 800k is safe in my home country, is at call, and earning around 4 times as much than it would in a Thai bank, and I don't have to deal with immigration. What's the downside???? Many argue it's illegal, and it is, but TiT. It's been going on for decades, and I can't see it ending any time soon. I have no problem with people who DIY their extensions, but just don't tell me it ONLY costs you 1,900 baht, because it's costing way more than that, so who really are "the mugs?" -

It would be convenient for the west if there was some type of military coup or revolution, but that is highly unlikely. Given the extent of global debt owed to China, once the west max's out their credit, I can only see going to war as a method of clearing the debt. Image the shame of a government explaining to their citizens, in democratic countries, that China now owns their country's economy. I suspect America has a false flag operation already planned, based on an attack on Taiwan, or an incident in the South China Sea, to kick it off. -

Unless the staff member at the telco shop rearranged your fist, middle, and last name, so they don't match. Oh well, another trip to the telco shop to check it out, and then another trip back to the telco shop 2 days later to confirm the information the staff from 2 days before gave you was accurate. TiT.

krungsri 1.5% only gain account?
KhunHeineken replied to proton's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
That's exactly why I don't even have the 800k baht in Thailand. The 800k baht invested in my home country, at over 5%, earns way more than the cost of the agent every year, and with the bonus I don't have to deal with immigration. The 800k baht is nothing more than a donation to a Thai bank. I continue to laugh at expats saying their extension only costs them 1,900 baht. They don't factor in the loss of interest.
