  1. Sh*t happens, seems like I missed an invitation to a party...???? - on the other hand, mai pen rai, it was illegal and with drugs, so not at all my ballgame, I would have been in the wrong place at the wrong time...???? - and hi-so parties are also often little too boring for me...???? Perhaps they accidentally got an invitation...
  2. Some airlines requires proof of credit card upon check-in - however, you might not be asked for it - if you cannot show the credit card used to pay for the ticket, you might not be allowed to check-in (it probably don't apply to self-check-in on machines...????). You can find details with potential airlines for your flight, or on the booking platforms.
  3. Probably, if the doctor's paperwork is correct - do we know if the doctor perhaps originally is educated in US or Canada? - it might also be that "work" means attending a medical conference, which for example about the potential from mixed Covid-vaccinations...????
  4. Who can legally reduce the account, if not in a shared name, or someone with some kind of authorized power from the account owner? Authorities will be alerted about death of a foreigner, and so will the foreigner's home country embassy. Bank accounts are recorded with passport number and/or Thai ID-number, so easy to find out.
  5. Bangkok Airways resumes domestic flights from Phuket August 25th, but what might happen in October is impossible to say now. The pinned thread about transport to and from the islands is better for you to ask questions and find answers, this one is about what's happening on Samui.

  7. I tried to be modest, not to defamate Bangkok Hospital, I think the message is understood...????
  8. I've had an odd ISP in the beginning of my time in LOS, they used cables from (now closed) TT&T. If me, I would choose a majord ISP like the one you are happy with, i.e True, or 3BB or TOT; I use the latter and am happy, 3BB was not good service in my area, but others have excellent experience with them. I pay 590 baht a month +vat for 250/250 Mbit fiber with TOT, including router, no set-up fees where I live.
  9. To my knowledge banks will freeze accounts upon death until the estate is settled. Best advice is always to make two last wills, one covering assets in one's home country - i.e. UK in your case - following the home country's law, and nother last will in Thailand covering assets here, and following Thai law. Write the conditions for the retirement deposit in the Thai will. Making a Thai will can be a very simple procedure, and verified at the local "amphor" district office. You can read about it in the book Thai Law for Foreigners, or search in ASEAN Now forum, there are several threads here with information about making a Thai last will.
  10. Opinion only: I don't think that any country will make vaccination mandatory, including Thailand - some people cannot be vaccinated due to health issues - but non vaccinated people might need to quarantine when travelling between countries or regions, i.e. for example US and EU could each be considered as a region, so travelling within US or EU wont need vaccination or quarantine. Also, some countries might make boble-agreements due to low number of infections, and thereby no quarantine needed for non vaccinated inhabitants.
  11. I also use her, and can recommend her (Google Street View HERE). Earlier I used the dental clinic at Bangkok Hospital - and they do implants - highly qualified dentists there, but little more expensive than Family Dental Care...???? PS: I still come monthly in Bangkok Hospital's dental clinic, as we use it for my daughter's and girlfriend's teeth corrections.
  12. From the article... “I believe that almost everyone, regardless of which vaccination brand they received, would be infected sooner or later due to new research on the Delta variant and the fact that vaccination will not fully prevent spread or transmission. We cannot live in a state of fear forever. We have to learn to live with it and do not discriminate against those who have already been recovered. They deserve to live like everyone else. We should be reminded to always have mercy on your fellow human beings,” he concluded [doctor, Manoon Leechawengwongs]. I read in my home country's news today that in Israel - which was the first country with a high vaccination rate of the population, most already in January and February, but today only 63 percent are fully vaccinated with two doses Pfizer/BioNTech - the vaccine is rapidly loosing it's effect. Monday (August 15th) Israel registered 8,698 new Covid-cases out of a population of 9 million. Compared to Thailand's population of 70 million that would relative equals 67,000 new daily cases. Israel is now giving people over 50 years a third jab as booster; it's been mentioned before that a booster might be necessary. Anyway, it seems like vaccine - even Chinese made Sinovac* - protects against severe cases and deaths, but it also shows the fact that we are going to live with Covid-19, at least for a while. A good question is then if all the continuing lockdowns are worth its costs...???? - - - - - *) A comment to that even Sinovac-vaccine gives protection. On the island Samui, where I live, a late night birthday party in pub - yes, it should not have been possible at all - resulted in a cluster of Covid cases, which seems to originate from one single lady that arrived from Bangkok, and had been partying on the island. Little more than 70 percent of the island's population had got one jab, and almost 50 percent so-called "fully vaccinated" with two jabs. Those that had two jabs were vaccinated with Sinovac, whilst the one-jabbers are AZ, mainly elder people and foreigners. The so-called "Black Club cluster" from the pub resulted in so far 171 Covid-cases, and at the same time there also was a smaller cluster from another place - the same lady had been visiting - but of all vaccinated with either 1 dose AZ og two doses Sinovac, nobody got severe symptoms... Status published 15th August... Covid-19 status 14th August... Note: The mentioned Hua Thanon cluster is another, which might have be caused by migrant workers.
  13. TAT will probably be sad to learn about The Federation of Thai Industries' prediction, it does not at all fit into their calculations...????
  14. North, Maenam Beach, which is the one on the photo...????
  15. When a Thai company limited sells property - or sells anything - the money shall be paid to the company, and be duly noted in the company's books. Business tax(es) need to be paid. There is to my knowledge no legitimate way round it - only if there are registered debt/mortgage in the property, which need to be paid before transfer - a director or shareholder cannot legally receive the money when selling a house, which belongs to a company limited. Normally a property owned by a shell Thai company limited is not sold, but the shares of the company are transferred, and payment of the shares is noted as "fulfilled", or only the foreign owner's share of shares and voting rights are sold, often for the agreed value of the property. No need to transfer the title deed, and no need to pay transfer fee and stamps, and no property sales tax implies; only capital gain tax applies for the shareholder(s) that sells shares. Sounds like your buyer is a Thai national that don't need/want a company limited. In that case the company limited sells the house, the money goes into the company limited, which can pay dividends to it's shareholders, or the company can formally be closed, and after paying taxes and debitors it's assets can be distributed among it's shareholders. This is one of the negative sides when using a shell company limited as property owner.
  16. Sweden has a population of 10 million, Thailand of 70 million. Sweden had 1.316 new Covid-cases two days ago - they haven't yet reported the numbers from today and yesterday, might be due to time zone difference - so to compare, Sweden would have 13,000 new cases if it had same population as Thailand. Active cases in Sweden right now are 19,632, which would equal 196,000 cases in Thailand, which have 210,000 active cases at the same day, so not that huge a difference. Historically Sweden had 108,000 cases per 1 million population, and 1,438 deaths; Thailand had 13,000 cases per 1 million population and 114 deaths.
  17. Sputnik is a vector-based vaccine, just like AZ and J&J. This link HERE compares all the available Covid-vaccines...????
  18. The whole island where I live has status of "town", so I must be living in a town. However, in practice I need to drive between 5 and 10 kilometers to major city activities like shopping malls and hypermarkets, cinemas, night clubs, government offices - except Immigration, which is within healthy about two kilometers walking distance - a number of hospitals, or an international airport, and more... Pros: 7-Eleven and Family Mart within 200 meters walk, together with almost everything else I need from restaurants, pharmacies, mum & dad shops, street vendors, Mini BigC and Lotus's Express, and much more. More pros: 7 meters to beach, 15 meters to nearest restaurant, 50 meters to walking street with local shops and street vendors, circa 100 meters to bakery, 200 meters to a main road, a few kilometers to jungle and water fall. Cons: 5-10 kilometers to international schools, otherwise I cannot instantly think of any...????
  19. Chicken meat is up from just under 50 baht a kilo to about 70 baht a kilo - actually as much as 56 percent up from 46 baht to 72 baht for chicken breast - it's said to be caused by closure of some "chicken meat factories" due to Covid. Gasoline is up about 50 percent compared to it's lowest price during Covid-lockdown - almost like the price I paid per liter 20 years ago, however now mixed with little ethanol - but gasoline follows international market prices. Thailand's consumer price index per end of July 2021 is 99.81 - it's been variating between 98.88 (February 2021) to 100.64 (April 2021) during the Covid-period - end of June it was 99.93, but might be more end of August, due to higher prices for sweet potatoes and chicken meat. The index has been circulation around magical 100 since 2019, so in average not much change in consumer prices, in average plus/minus one percent. The (year-to-year) inflation rate is 0.45 percent, and core inflation 0.14 percent (end of July), end of June inflation was 1.25 percent, and core inflation was 0.52 percent; so actually lower now. Back in February 2021 the inflation rate was -1.17 percent. But if you select individual items you can always find changes, and imported items are furthermore dependent of currency exchange rates. Some products seems to increase a lot - I noticed Greek yoghurt has gone up by about 10 percent - whilst others are little cheaper. There are for example lots of milk brands at lower than usual price, and sweet soda like Coke and Pepsi are cheaper now than 10 years ago, whilst eggs for a very short period about a month ago were up by more than 10 percent, also pork meat were temporary up, and now little down again, but to my memory almost doubled in price during a 15-years period. For the mix of products I buy it's between unchanged, when I compare within the last five years, and that I can fill little more in the shopping cart for little less money. However, I don't buy sweet potatoes, so you cannot compare with my total shopping value, or with how much stuff I load into to my shopping cart, your product selection might well have gone up in price...????
