To my knowledge you shall apply for Schengen visa at the embassy or consulate of the Schengen-country with your primary stay. However – and do check that – you might need to apply from your home country, it might be between difficult or impossible to apply from a third country. When applying for a tourist visa, you need confirmed hotel bookings, return ticket and insurance certificate (when collecting visa; don't buy any ticket before visa is approved), proof of funds, and a full agenda for your stay. When visiting a friend you'll need an invitation letter, proof of your friend's accommodation size (big enough to accommodate you) and your friend's financial status; furthermore you need to proof you have a certain level of fund yourself, and of course return ticket and insurance when collecting visa.

The short answer is: YES. However, if you buy an electric car, it might be okay to leave the engine running for cooling air.

Living Year Around in the South - I don't get it
khunPer replied to SiSePuede419's topic in General Topics
Seems like you, OP, is better of staying in north most of the time. Others love Samui and all-year-round-summer – never too hot and never too cold – and the charm of the island, which it still has, even it's different than during the good old hippie-era. But so, we are all different, and there seems to be space for both kind: You up north and me on a lovely paradise-island down south... PS: I first wished to settle in Chiang Mai, but luckily changed my mind when I realized that i way to cold at night in the winter months, and it can still be too warm in daytime; way too hot in summertime; and not to forget the haze and PM2.5-pollution during the long burning-season, making it one of the most air-polluted places in the whole World... -
No, it's worth money for recycling, so a scavenger (waste picker) will take it, especially one that collect electronics. Just leave it in a clear bag – so it's protected and still visible, what is inside – next to normal garbage.

You normally don't need to think about dress, you'll often be offered some depending of the Thai massage-style you wish. The photo you post is "foot massage" or reflexology, where you normally need to roll up you pants – as lower leg is part of the treatment – or will be offered a pair of massage trousers for the purpose. Many places offers a massage outfit when having traditional Thai Massage, so you simply change in the massage shop (but not underwear, you keep your own). For oil-massage you only use your underwear; so, please remember that, if oil-massage is your choice. However, in certain neighbourhoods you can be offered extra service, where you don't need to remember to wear underwear for oil-massage, and if you remembers it, you might be asked to take it off...

It might be depending of genes, i.e. how strong your genes become in the mix. My mixed Thai-Northern European-daughter don't look Thai or Asian at all, but typical Northern European. Also her hair is the thin Caucasian-variety, not the thick Asian. Both my daughter and I attended the Geno 2.0-project, her first reference population is German, with second reference as Kinh (Vietnam). "You" in the graphic from GENO 2.0 is my mixed Thai-Northern European (Danish) daughter's first reference... The text states: YOUR FIRST REFERENCE POPULATION: GERMAN This reference population is based on samples collected from people native to Germany. The dominant 46% Northern European component likely reflects the earliest settlers in Europe, hunter-gatherers who arrived there more than 35,000 years ago. The 36% Mediterranean and 17% Southwest Asian percentages probably arrived later, with the spread of agriculture from the Fertile Crescent in the Middle East over the past 10,000 years. As these early farmers moved into Europe, they spread their genetic patterns as well. Today, northern and central European populations retain links to both the earliest Europeans and these later migrants from the Middle East. 2nd reference... YOUR SECOND REFERENCE POPULATION: KINH (VIETNAM) This reference population is based on samples collected from the Kinh ethnic group living in Vietnam, the largest ethnic group in the country. The 57% Northeast Asian and 43% Southeast Asian percentages are representative of migrations in East Asia, with the Northeast Asian component likely coming from the earliest settlers in eastern Siberia and northern China. The Southeast Asian component reflects mixing with groups that originated further south. However, my daughter is more Neanderthal and Denisovan than I (1.5% and 1.0%)... YOUR HOMINID ANCESTRY 1.8% NEANDERTHAL 2.2% DENISOVAN When our ancestors first migrated out of Africa around 60,000 years ago, they were not alone. At that time, at least two other species of hominid cousins walked the Eurasian landmass: Neanderthals and Denisovans. Most non-Africans are about 2% Neanderthal. The Denisovan component of your Geno 2.0 results is more experimental, as we are still working to determine the best way to assess the percentage Denisovan ancestry you carry. The evolution of this data is another way you are actively involved in helping advance knowledge of anthropological genetics! Neanderthals, the better known of the two species, left Africa about 300,000 years ago and settled in Europe and parts of western Asia. The Denisovans are a much more recent addition to the human family tree. In 2008, paleoanthropologists digging in a cave in southern Siberia unearthed a 40,000-year-old adult tooth and an exquisitely preserved fossilized pinkie bone that had belonged to a young girl who was between five and seven years old when she died.

Long Wait for 90-Day-Report
khunPer replied to parallaxtech's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
Samui Immigration has to my knowledge never used the form – nor copies of passport – for 90 days report. I have for the last about 15 years – so more than one passport – had a little slip with my address scotch-taped to my passport; they only asks for the address written on a small piece of paper. However, last time I was for unknown reason – like many others – rejected from the online system, so I brought a print of the registration confirmation, which is the form, with me for an in-person report. When I was handed the queue-number downstairs, the lady kept the form: »No use,« she said. The backside of an excellent 80-gram piece of A4 paper was blank – the office saves the environment by reusing backsides of paper for photocopies – so someone will probably get my online form on the back of an info-sheet from the immigration office... -
The easy solution is just to say "I'm sorry" and pay whatever small reasonable amount suggested by the police; in line with other suggestions above, and checking with mandatory insurance. Involving a lawyer might likely not change anything for you, apart from the fee you need to pay to a lawyer.

Long Wait for 90-Day-Report
khunPer replied to parallaxtech's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
Yes, something like that, but more than three letters in front of queue-ticket number, some letters are however more equal and called before others... The major queue problem is downstairs, where everybody are in one long line in front of two service-windows. As I mentioned above, when doing a simple 90-days' address report, it is worth coming late when there is no queue downstairs... -

can someone else register my motorbike
khunPer replied to brian2322's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
It sounds like it's the annual tax payment, for which you just needs green book, inspection approval and mandatory insurance. Other can do the service for you. I have a car with and the insurance broker always do all for me; however I need to pass an inspection and get an approval, if the car has matured enough for that kind of health-check. -

It's relative compared to your health condition and financials. IMO, the original non-OA demand for 440,000 baht health insurance seems like a fair lower amount set aside in easy accessible cash for self-insurance, when prepared to use government hospitals. Be aware to refill, if any money is used – self-insurance is not like insurance, where the full amount is available again next year or next incident – and also to regularly top up for inflation-protection, for example by a monthly amount, just like paying to an insurance company. Others. with expert knowledge about health in Thailand, have mentioned 3 million baht as necessary amount set aside for self-insurance; presumed when using private hospitals. It's also the insurance level for non-OA today. Health insurance premiums might raise to a relative quite high level for aging healthy people, especially if living on a budget, where the money seems lost. However, you need some kind of rainy day-account with a reasonable deposit to be self insured, and also still to top up the deposit for both inflation -protection and any withdrawals.

Normally it's the court in the country of primary residence that handles an estate and any last will(s); however there might be exclusion like real estate in another country than the one of primary residence, or laws about minimum inheritance for some heirs – like in my home country, where you cannot make spouse or children total heirless. So if you more or less permanently live in Thailand, it's likely Thailand. The Thai lawyers that wrote the book "Thai Law for Foreigners" suggests that you make two last will: One covering your assets in Thailand and following Thai law; and another covering your assets in your home country and following the laws there. It can be very simple to make a last will, but make sure that it's clearly written text of what you want. Inheritance tax or fees are normally dependant of the residence of the heir.

Long Wait for 90-Day-Report
khunPer replied to parallaxtech's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
There are different letters in front of the Queue-number, depending of which service you are waiting for. The 90-days address is a different desk from long-term-stay. I normally do it online, but there seems to have been problems with the online service lately. Many have complained that they got rejected, me too. So I went to do in person at Samui Immigration a few weeks ago. Came late, as I used to before online – i.e., in the afternoon after the lunch rush – then, there is almost no waiting line, so it was done in less than 15 minutes all together.
