  1. With Respect, if Australia couldn't deal with their floods, and every possible action was taken, what hope does Thailand have ?

Haha, right you are.....and what to think of the Gods from the USA........they are still dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Catherina, isn't it, and all those "experts" are at Don Muang now, telling the government what to do? Just make my f*cking day!

A few decades ago there was this song........forgot the singer: "Let it flow, let it flow, let it flow!"

  2. I'm from Holland and the Dutch seem to be the experts on water management. The Crown Prince is Holland's top water-manager; however.........after protecting Holland from the powers of the North Sea by building the Delta-works, the country was flooded 2 times over the last 10 years by water from............yes the rivers Rhine and Maas transporting water from Switzerland, France and Germany. The water-defense wasn't working!!

  3. Depends if you are on an extension of stay based on employment or not.

I came here on a non-immigrant B. one with which I had to leave the country every 90 days. Just before that ran out I got my work permit and a 1 year visa for which I have to go to immigration every 90 days. The visa itself is valid until some time next year.

Your permission to stay will expire the day your employment ends, you can apply for a 7 day extension(1900 Baht) or leave the country and start the process over again if I undersand correctly.

That is very bad news for me. Glad I looked into this so I can prepare a solution before the shit hits the fan.

Thanks for the quick replies guys!

IF, just if your current employer is on speaking terms with, ask him to give you a notice a bit later.

IF, just if you are able to find a job before the last day of employment, take care that an application for a new WP is done. This may give you an extension of 3 months at immigration waiting for a WP.

  4. It doesn't matter....it's just ridiculous that they charge you THB 40,90 per month and take the meter after 3 months and charge you THB 4,000 for replacing the meter.

However, a house opposite mine has 4 bills stuck on the fence and both water meter and electric meter are still there.

  5. Probably the builder thinned the paint to a spraying-viscosity.

The easiest way to dilute, if necessary, is to dilute it to the same viscosity as the viscosity of a low-fat yoghurt and that means approx. 10% dilution.

TOA, Beger, Nippon do have high gloss enamels in their program.

  6. I like Agoda myself. We're talking personal cc info here... probably not a good idea to use the more obscure or 'up and coming' sites. And yeah, they don't charge you until you show up with the card you booked with at the hotel.

    :)

    Not true.

I use Agoda a lot and they charge you the day you make the booking even if you're booking a hotel several months in advance.

Edit: the websites I've used previously that allow you to pay at the hotel have always charged a non-refundable 10% to your card immediately. I assume that's their fee.

That is also my experience with agoda.

    And mine.

  7. Sophon is offering 63 channels

BTV and TMN are offering resp 102 and 92 channels, although BTV is in the process of upgrading Khao Talo and Khao Noi area.

Problem for most True users is the regular broadcasts of MotoGP and F1 (as well as other broadcasts). Those programs are not regularly broadcasted on Sophon ,TMN or BTV

  8. Was scammed last week at the Jet gasstation along motorway #7 near the Laem Chabang intersection.

I was filled up and once ready I was asked to move my car forward; in the meantime they asked for my credit card. (2 actions that asked for attention).

I received the receipt: THB 1220 although it should have been somewhat around THB 900.

Of course, another customer was being helped (I moved out of the way).

Next time, I'll ask for a "bai set" (invoice) and stay put until I've paid. dam_n, after hundreds of tank fillings they got me after all. ph34r.gif

  9. UKJASE, don't worry.

Just go the Immigration Office, take the necessary documents with you (utility bill or house registration or rental contract), copy of your passport (all pages + departure card), 2 photo's and fill in the form upon entering the office.

Turn in the documents + THB 200 for each letter you need and the next day (or maybe even there and then) you can take your letter.

If government-officials EVER ask for your WP, you simply don't have it with you, because the WP 'says' that you must be able to show it upon request when you are WORKING.

Driving around with a foreign DL won't cause problems. I'm doing so for the last 8 years; I'm being stopped on several occasions, caused one accident and insurance accepted my DL and rent cars regularly.....no problem what so ever, which doesn't mean that you may get into trouble for not having a Thai DL.

Rumors are spreading about not needing a Thai DL, but I wouldn't bet on that.

  10. Only allow her, if you can get a family-discount on her off-fee whistling.gif

Probably the OP's wife thinks that she should get more money and if the farang-husband doesn't approve, it is pretty common that they threat with this kind of nonsense.

Just tell her, that you allow to work in a gogo-bar and she will buckle up.

  11. Along with the SMS service of Kasikorn, there is an e-mail-service.

Before you go abroad, change the OTP-option (given by SMS) in a second-password-option (not valid for ALL transactions). Best would be to keep your Thai number active with sufficient funds on the sim.
