they should stop discussing "measures"
and remove them
the "measures" are what is killing the industryPatently obvious to the crew, but once the captain has yelled "full steam ahead and damn the torpedoes", the captain leaves himself with absolutely no room to maneuver. He'd rather sink the ship than admit his decision is a right royal cockup.
And that is the fundamental problem with all governments - the inability to admit stupidity despite an ever increasing mountain of supporting evidence.

The only thing worse than the inevitable unintended consequences of government edicts are perforce the intended consequences of their edicts.
There is no doubt the dire straits the entertainment industry now finds itself in is of the latter category and the government version of Hotel California syndrome will be with them at least until Elvis has left the building.

I think they borrowed the term from the Illustrious Joseph Stalin. "Concerned Comrade" was the euphemism for describing the circa 60% of the population that were informants to the various arms of the state including local commissars, the NKVD, etc.
So in a family of 5 people, three of them were statistically an informant.
Fear and oppression applied by individuals and lowly officials in the the USSR was a far greater tyranny than ever applied directly by the government. That would never happen today in the free democratic countries that we hail from.....oh wait....

If you want a laugh, download an app called Bigo Live. It's loaded with Thai chicks (and from all over the world, but the Thais and Vietnamese are the most daring) prancing around in their underwear trying to overtly reveal their nipples while trying hard not to look as though they are overtly trying to reveal their nipples. If they get too risque they get banned temporarily.
I'm waiting for one of them to be called out on social media because ironically a good number of them have framed (in gold, obviously) pictures of royalty looking down in the background.
Some make some good money out of it.
I don't use the app myself - a lowlife acquaintance described it to me in some detail.

Still busy in town Sunday... lot of traffic heading out of town too. Damned BKK drivers are xxxx!
Your dead right there. I especially like the way they just "cease driving" in the middle of the road for 3 minutes while I imagine they're arguing over whose phone has the correct GPS directions to The Chocolate Factory.

Mixture of Vinegar and water in the tank. You'll have a constant craving for fish and chips, but it will do a great job of cleaning the windows.

Not so very long ago, three Chinese national warships sailed, unannounced , into Sydney Harbour (thats in Australia for the geography challenged... ) Australian armed forces promptly responded by launching a wooden dinghy, armed with very large sticks and some stones,, to check on them.............Though I love my country I despair at the governments feeble efforst to protect the country.
It's long been argued that a small Chinese or Russian fishing trawler with a crew of ten with only five rusty AK47's between them could rock up to the Houses of Parliament in Wellington harbor and take over the country without firing a shot.
For clarity, Wellington is the capital of New Zealand. For geographical accuracy, Australia is a small island of our western coast.

Emotional value is difficult to put into dollars and cents. The only stuff I brought was my photographic gear and my watch collection.
Other bulky things such as my twice restored RD400G and old LP's and books I still have back home and until sars-cov-2 was happy visiting them once or twice a year.
OP I would say unless you are emotionally attached to something don't bother bringing it. But anything (even a '65 Shelby) that has deep emotional value, then pay whatever it costs and bring it in.
EDIT: Forgot to add I did bring a potato masher and a potato peeler. Twelve years ago they were as rare as virgins in Patters.

Just make sure the
electricianSomchai that fits the fan for you doesn't tap off the closest light fitting (which will be his preferred option) otherwise you can't use the fan unless the lights switch is on.Don't worry about a separate switch for the fan, they virtually all now come with an IR remote control and simply need a permanent (always on) 220V supply. Mine have 3 different colored light options, 3 speeds, and timers from 1 hour to 4 hours that affect both fan and lights.
With luck Somchai can cut the hole for the fan and using anything from a trained ferret to a length of lacing wire will manage to trace a line to the closest constant 220v.
Funniest I saw was Somchai A with a large nut (as in nut and bolt) tied to a piece of string throwing the nut across about 8 metres of ceiling space to Somchai B. You have to imagine the picture - they're both up a ladder with one arm each up a downlight hole throwing it totally invisibly Only took them 15 minutes - 55555.
Even if they have to cut a big 30cm square of ceiling out to give working space or find a 220V cable to splice off, they will easily replace the square and plaster and paint it for you. Standard practice for working on plumbing and electrics in a building of the design you describe.

Is Tony, Charlie and Joe the Nigerian equivalent of Tom, Dick and Harry?
And for the headline writer, it's three Nigerians and two Thais.

If this were the 18th century we'd all be wearing wigs anyway.
But what worries me is there is more "hair product" on display on the heads of a team of male rugby players than there ever was on the heads of a women's netball team.

Not only that....many high end retailers are experiencing "smash and Grab" attacks by gangs of thieves over the past few months. They roll in with 5 or 10 people , clear out high end handbags/shoes/whatever and leave. Not much you can do and the police seem to arrive 5 minutes late every time.
It's going to mean the end of brick and mortar retailers eventually....can't violate their civil rights by stopping them either or you'll end up in court being sued for assault. Glad to be here....
I believe that California and a few other states have legalized theft of this sort by decriminalizing the purloining of other people's possessions if less than USD950.
Now that's what I call being progressive!!

I want to know why the only language I'm aware of that has an actual noun to describe a male that sits to take a pee is German.
Sitzpinkler.

The use of taxation (legalised and government endorsed theft) to incentivize an alteration in behavior is the equivalent of beating a child with a poker to achieve the same.

Dude, the right hand doesn't know the left hand actually exists, and vice-versa.
That's the principle reason for excrement occurring in Thailand as frequently as it does.

This is getting repetitious. <deleted> go and count the firewood in the wild and give me an audited and verified quantity. Oh wait.....
(insert user estimated number between 15 and 1,000+) straggly trees doth not maketh a forest (or even a jungle), it maketh firewood in the wild.
The irony is that you're debating the quantity as opposed to the philosophical argument that trees may, or may not in fact be firewood in the wild.
And now that I've extracted the appropriate amount of urine I will exit stage left. Apologies to Snagglepuss.

15? you counted them? I'd guess at 100+, this is part of the Pratumnak forest probably the only park tree area for miles around
I stand corrected.
One hundred (approximately) straggly trees doth not maketh a forest (or even a jungle), it maketh firewood in the wild.

Find me any logical decision made by any government and you're in the draw for a free condo.
The list of government success stories is extremely short.
