I would not trust any bank guarantee if there is some big collapse. If the money is on the bank but you can't exchange it and the THB devalues rapid you still loose. -

No it is their internal affairs....Would you accept if China put pressure on Thailand to implement their style of civil society? That are military families battling for power...one more close to China, one more democratic but close to USA. Thailand should keep their fingers out of it. Not taking any side in the greater China/USA conflict. And in case of how the treat minorities they are both bad -

together with the work attitude..... -
yes you are right, it is not the custom...but still we have to pay it. Just now I get a bigger shipment D/O + Local charges: 2788.8...that has something to do with the way seafreight works...no escape from that Customs Clearing 2500 Baht...shipping company charges that..not custom...2500 is a bit expensive, but bad clearing can result in much bigger problems (clearing with Form E and seller who doesn't know the process is something you need an agent who knows what he does). Actually a lot considering that the seafreight itself is only 325 Baht ($8 per cbm) VAT is 12500 on it. So the handling of the documents + clearing is a big part of the total costs.

The debt is a little problem as long as the rates are close to zero....But that is changing... -
yes 7% on the landed costs.....TNT/FedEx etc. charge us every time I think 400 Baht for the clearing.... Do the mathematics next time you buy something. At the end 10% is a good estimate. And if it is bigger you have a lot of other small side fees in the harbor. On a 300 kg shipment the customs processing can be easily a few thousand Baht. On shipments per post, it also happens that we need to go ourself at the customs place which is a lot lost time.

You are right, she did not profit from it. The big corruption was from the warehouses, mills, reseller etc.. But the system came from trying to play with the global prices and additionally bad management. She did not steal money at the rice scam. Others did. And a lot rice got rotten which is only wasting money. I complete agree on the mismanagement of Covid-19...extreme bad for small business and economic and on top of it huge costs and debts. A special place in my list of the most stupid things I have ever seen: Announce that you need to be vaccinated to enter Thailand, starting with the next day 8 o'clock (if I remember right) and than stop with it at 10 AM as it is nonsense.....It was Anutin but on Prayuts watch....But that does not make Yingluck less incompetent. (Which I don't say about Thaksin, his first term was good). -

They may have inflated the amount of suicides, but there were proofed cases with letters.....Maybe not that many, I don't know but there were cases. And with the Junta...Yes I agree....They were not really helpful By no means I want to tell that the Junta did a good job.....They did nothing. -

No I have no problem doing business with anyone. -
It is complete madness and sign of not understanding economics....Instead of spending that money, they should make Thailand more attractive for business....spend the money to install more power generation to have cheaper electric, lower taxes and duties, reduce buerocracy. Not hand out money that boast the economic for an year and than the next 10 years we pay back the debts with ever increasing taxes.
-
Not for any electronics....many things are way cheaper on aliexpress. Never looked at computer things, but normal electronic parts and 3D printer parts Solar inverter are much cheaper. But not everything, it is worth to compare. Heavy items are often cheaper in Thailand (because of the shipping costs)
-
But consider that zero duty means you still pay a bit more than 10% As you pay 7% VAT on the landed costs (so including shipping) and you may pay a fee for the customs clearing.

for me yes.....I rather have money than teaching other countries what they should do.... And for some poor Thai higher prices will change what they are able to feed their children...(and not to mention that the poor people in Myanmar suffers as well not the military) You seem to have no problem with that.... -

junta propaganda???? I was in Thailand at that time....even flooded...that Yingluck caused the floods is disputed....But for the rice scam I didn't even know that someone dispute that fact. They were proud of their plans and openly promoted it.....There were life videos from the fake warehouses. Beside some twitter bubble and maybe some journalists who were never outside Bangkok no one debunks that. -

you can't say that....Hitler and Stalin weren't military....And I would strongly prefer some moderate Prayuth over them, if they had a coup in time. -

Saudi Arabia, Russia, Malaysia (Sharia), USA, Iran...... Specially on the oil and gas it looks bad and making a pipeline from Norway to Thailand might be a bit costly. Pipeline gas works only from countries that are close. Thailand produced a lot gas themself in the gulf, but they screwed up things....I didn't read what they did but there was some major problem. And tell the Thai people...sorry electric and cooking gas goes up 30% because we don't like Myanmars internal affairs....Thai people may ask why they get punished. Thailand should be neutral and friendly to both sides. -
If it is a big building and no one knows where there are wires and where not it is difficult.....Difficult if it is no always only sometimes...And the customer will complain when you disconnect all the time. I would split the cable tree and look in which half the problem is...than split that to half.....but that will need long time...and if all is like it is in many times both halfs will have a problem.....

Specially if there is a pandemic....more money than the defense minister to pocket

seems to be the plan.....

And not forget the rice scam (Yingluck)...lots of farmers killed themself in this one. It was an attempt to cause a worldwide shortage so the prices increase. Instead other countries just sold more and the Thai rice got rotten.
